We know he has 1 punch KO power but else does he have to his arsenal? He doesn't have the fastest foot or hand speed, he's got pretty good timing and feints but certainly not the greatest in history, he seems to just be overpowering guys with his above average skills and his deadly power, is there more to his story
The answer to your question good matchmaking and solid skills.
This should be very similar to the Abraham fight.
I wouldn't doubt it. I could see Ward pitching a shutout, but I think the one wild card is Pavlik's jab. I don't think he'll retreat into a shell like Abraham. At least not initially...
did i mention how hard pavlik hits...?
Yeah Pavlik is a banger, but Ward's been in with a number of quality guys who can throw sledgehammers. I don't know if that alone is enough to lose any sleep over for a Ward fan.
Yeah, reach is the only thing I can think of as well. But Ward's so good at measuring and closing distance and slipping that I can't imagine it being much of an issue. Has he fought anyone with that kind of reach before?
up to this point, I hadn't really noticed a bias, not to say I was happy with the magazine content-wise but I thought it was fair to Arum + GBP, but now this:dunno:
This is boxing, and there is a ton of money involved. The bias was going to surface sooner or later.
don't know how any one can say Ward cleaned out his division he beat Froch which is a great win but other then that he has fought any of top 5 bute or Dirrell brothers.
except for Kessler over 3 years ago I wouldnt call beating Bika and Green cleaning out a division
Great sig. Who is the old man sticking his hand into the frame?
Simple question, will Floyd duck Canelo?
He is the only legitimate fight out there for him, will he take it, or will he find himself a blow up lightweight to fight?
I use to think Canelo was a hype job, but I have come around to the realization that he is brutality.
Its been a long time since I have seen a fighter with the variety of punches that Canelo comes with in smooth combinations like he does... and those body shots... They make me piss blood just watching them...
A few quips:
the speed of the video seems to have been sped up in at least a few instances to exaggerate Canelo's speed. The vid doesn't show where Cotto had Canelo on queer street. The vid doesn't show Canelo's sub-par footwork, which is often plodding.
I highly doubt Floyd would duck Canelo based on any sort of threat he posses. I think he might decline fighting him because it would leave him open to criticism for cherry picking. Floyd doesn't have that many fights left, and fewer still which could add to his legacy.
Will Canelo keep ducking Trout?
Oh absolutely. Way too high risk/low reward. The haste with which Canelo left the building after the Trout-Cotto fight tells you everything you need to know.
I thought that doing that type of disrespectful nonsense was more of an MMA fans thing. But it really wouldn't surprise me if the fools of this site start adopting that atrocious nonsense as well.
Probably an ESB poster...
One of the few commentators for any sport who really can't be replaced. It's unfortunate that the mainstream sports media are so intent on relegating boxing to fringe status -- Larry probably won't ever get his due. One of the true greats. Gonna miss him.
