Finally, a mega fight to attract casual fans and showcase the sport at its finest. Manny Pacquiao, the ultimate action boxer, shows up and performs terribly. Mayweather lives up to his end of the deal, does what he does, and Pacquiao basically does nothing to change that.
Not only that, but Pacquiao and his team do not disclose his injury and cast doubts on the result and the performance of the fight. You have so many potential new followers for the sport, really paying attention for the first time, and now they feel cheated. People spent their hard-earned money, and now they have a result that Manny and his team are trying to discredit.
The only way this could have been solved, is if Manny just humbly accepted defeat, instead of whining like a jerk. The best case scenario is that he entered the ring with a minor injury and aggravated it during the fight. Then he can accept the loss and say that's the nature of the sport and people don't feel cheated. Once he complained that he was hurt going into the ring, trying to discredit the result, people felt like they'd been cheated.
Good job Manny, Roach and Arum. You screwed up bad. I hope the class action suit against you succeeds, Manny gets suspended, his lawyer loses his license and Roach never has the opportunity to mouth to a journalist ever again.
