So it's a little hard to answer your questions, for the obvious reason, that we may have differing opinions on "ELITE WW". But to make you feel good about yourself, I will dare to say NONE with the exception of Cotto, but that was at SUPER WW so hmm, maybe I'm reaching. The only ELITE level fighter that I guess Mayweather can prove himself against is MANNY PACQUIAO. And while I'm not a huge fan of Pacquiao, he has done enough in his career to be considered ELITE. But Pacquiao had a lot of trouble and even got Knocked out by a gent' named Juan Manuel Marquez (another one of my favorites), and well he fought and lost........you know what I'm not even going to get started. I like Triple G, but lets be honest, everyone he's fought lately has lost the fight before the opening bell. They are all scared of the Boogey-Man, and they go in there with a survivors mentality, and guess what, they get clocked and the rest is history. Like I said I like Triple G, and I do hope that he wins, but there are some flaws in his game, and assuming Rubio isn't only in there for the paycheck, this fight could definitely not go as expected. Now if Rubio goes in there like Castillo did against Hatton, well then, I have to eat my words. ;). BTW ,Garcia doesn't sound too sure of his own fighter either though, so we will wait and see. :angel:

I wouldn't mind seeing Bute vs Medina on the undercard of Degale vs. Jack- Winners fight each other in the first quarter of 2017. Both gave very good accounts of themselves. I like Bute, but I can see Medina outworking the Old Man.

The only fight that can really overwhelm a Cotto - Canelo match up that weekend is Mayweather - Pacquiao. Shit, put them on the same card. Wanna talk about blowing the roof off? But that's just wishful thinking. My thoughts exactly. Imagine that. Mayweather versus Pacquiao, and the co-main event Canelo versus Cotto. That my friend is a boxing fans wet dream, regardless if you are a "casual-fan" or "die-hard fan". All four fighters will get a handsome guaranteed paycheck, and I’d let the promoters split the PPV however they see fit. I'd pay $120.00 for that card on a Tuesday night!! And to get even more carried away, feature some of Mayweather’s stable versus Cotto’s Stable, and some of those TopRank kids versus the Golden Boy kids. I can think of a million possibilities. To be honest, I wouldn’t mind seeing Cotto Vs. Lara. I know it sounds silly, and that fight is definitely not on anyone’s wish-list or radar, but I think it’s an interesting match-up. I think stylistically it wouldn’t be a bad fight. Lara is a great boxer who likes to move and use the ring, and Cotto, is a great boxer-puncher who loves to cut-off the ring. Lara has enough power to keep ‘em honest and Cotto has enough power, to slow Lara down and possibly hurt him. I know Lara schooled Trout, who beat Cotto, but its two completely different styles of fighting. I think Canelo vs Cotto is a little interesting, but Canelo isn’t really all that special, even if he can beat Cotto. Canelo is great at absorbing shots and walking right through them, and clearly has the weight and power advantage over Cotto. Canelo vs Cotto is a 60/40 in Canelos favor because of his youth, power, and size. This is coming from a COTTO “Stan” btw. Let’s see COTTO VS LARA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That route Floyd took is a full time job, he's got nothing else going on between bouts so he can promote all he wants if he wants and when he wants. Other boxers don't have that kind of time nor do they want the stress that comes with it. I say making $20 million a fight is more than Pacquaio ever expected to see and if he's happy why mess with it. I understand there is more money to be made but also a lot more demand of your time. This guy can dedicate four months of the year to the sport and have 8 months to do anything else he wants. Other boxers have tried that promote while being active career wise, it's only worked out for two people. DLH and Mayweather, Haymon's first foray outside of manager/advisor was in the mid 90's when he partnered with a boxer who launched his own promotional vehicle. His career came undone not that long thereafter. Some people need their focus on one thing at a time...ain't a knock...people just operate in what zone makes them the most comfortable.
