I get what your saying, but there shouldn't be any excuses if they fought at 147 either if they weigh the same on fight night at both weights. Doesn't bother me whether its at 140 or 147... I am just saying, you get what I mean?
of course there should be excuses, the only reason manny would fight mayweather at 147 is because mayweathers a coward. I bet you'd make excuses if mayweather lost to a bigger guy like kirkland when there about the same size, but that doesn't make the fair right. the fact that floyd didn't even want to fight marquez at 143 shows how scared he is. Now if he fights pacquiao he'll have to fight him atleast at 143 and that something he didn't want to happen.
Miguel Cotto should fight Pacquiao because then Mayweather will be forced to fight the winner. Unless he too scared, because you know that if he fights Pacquiao he''ll retired or have one last bout against a smaller fighter.

I heard De La Hoya got caught cheating in his next fight and that he also put tape directly onto his skin. He was also seen giving tips to Margarito on how to win. I don't think so. that would mean he wasn't able to hurt Pacquiao. If Pacquiao can take Cotto punches he wins. Pacquiao should be cruising along if its a decision, because he's the faster guy and he has better stamina than Cotto. Pacquiao can take the win by K.O. too.
Cotto will likely be taken to deep waters and then drowned by Pacquiao punches.
This is assumming that Cotto fights the same way he did vs Clottey. If Cotto can pace himself he has a better chance.

Cotto must not rush things too quickly or he might risk losing steam early in the fight. He can't try to go for the knock out unless he gets Manny hurt. but at the same time if he doesn't K.O Pacquiao he loses. He must not underestimate Power or he'll end up being the one knocked out.

After the Castillo fight Floyd was never fought as an underdog because there wasnt a fight in his weightclass that would be the fav. in the fight against him.
Mayweather is doing the same thing that hopkins did fight big names but from smaller divisions asking them to go up, but always looking bad against fighters from his natural weight class.
Mayweather has fought washed up fighters, from baldomir, mitchell, gatti. He was taking breaks fighting shot fighters while others have been going through wars. Now a win to marquez does nothing to his resume. He will be fighting a smaller fighter whos going to be over weight and is old. But marquez surely saw the marquez vs diaz fight and saw he was easy pickings.
