With the odds stacked up against Miguel Cotto: the issue with the catchweight, the belts at stake, the referee (Kenny Bayless), and the lucrative Mayweather fight against Pacquiao, are the odds too stacked up against Cotto?
Can he actually win a decision against Pacquiao at the MGM Grand or are the powers-that-be too strong?

wtf is cotto doing trying to win a decision?
i'm simply stating the fact that IF there is NO ko for either fighter, what would happen... im saying that cotto can pull off the decision if he doesn't ko pac but he would have to beat him convincingly to get a decision because there are too many variables that would convince the judges to favor pac slightly (for example the dream of a super-fight with PBF)... but cotto does have a good chance of stopping PAC IMO...
id definitely have to agree with you on this one... i feel cotto basically has to annihilate pacquiao in order to get the decision... or kayo him...

I don't know why some people keep bringing up "featherweight", "former 106 pounder"
It is not relevant at all. Pac is a jrWW who is trying to work his way into WW.
But I have to agree with mangler, cotto should do all he can to ko manny, it truly is in his best interest.
He could win a decision but he would have to drop manny multiple times and avoid being dropped by manny.
I would like to say yes...but considering the fact that Cotto seemed to have everything stacked against him from jump, Money, belt, Weight, and all that, even considered the "underdog".
It smells a bit fishy to me,I think Cotto MUST and Will KO Pacquiao within 4-6.

thats not cottos problem that pacquiao started out at 106 lbs. all he has to worry about is fighting his fight, that being: counter punching pacquiao as he comes lunging in with the straight left, and using his timing to offset manny's speed. cotto has great timing and a great jab... thats gonna make the biggest difference in the fight for cotto and i believe too many people are counting cotto out on this fight IMO...
I don't think so. that would mean he wasn't able to hurt Pacquiao. If Pacquiao can take Cotto punches he wins. Pacquiao should be cruising along if its a decision, because he's the faster guy and he has better stamina than Cotto. Pacquiao can take the win by K.O. too.
Cotto will likely be taken to deep waters and then drowned by Pacquiao punches.
This is assumming that Cotto fights the same way he did vs Clottey. If Cotto can pace himself he has a better chance.
