It was a good night, overall. There were some enjoyable fights over here in Britain (Lee Selby vs. Stephen Smith, in particular) before the American card kicked off.
Shame about the way the Mayweather-Ortiz fight ended, that's all. It looked like it was going to be a really good fight.
I taped this fight live on Sky Box Office. I watched it again a couple of weeks ago.
The Sky commentators said that the entrance was originally going to be twice as long as it was, but the American network had it cut down.
After the fight, it was said that Naz was kept behind the screen longer than intended and he was getting frustrated.
Whatever the case, the fight itself was very entertaining.
he only fought like that to get the Mayweather fight...
Hello, Mr. Snipes. I enjoy your work when you're not in prison. :)
Sergio probably thought Barker would be an easy ride. I definitely don't think he expected the fight he got.
I'm disappointed this fight was put on hiatus too.
I think Guerrero would have won a comfortable decision. As someone has already said in the thread, I think Guerrero is a great boxer and underrated by the majority. After his performance against Morales, I don't think Maidana is the talent some people thought he was.
I think one of the most exciting things about this fight is that it really could go either way. I'd want Pacquiao to win, but I wouldn't bet my house on it.
Adamek has nothing to be ashamed of. It was a tall order from the very beginning. Adamek tried his best, but it just wasn't good enough. There was nothing he could do against a man with that kind of size advantage and those kind of skills.
Unlike my fellow Brit David Haye, Adamek acted like a gentleman in the build-up to this fight, fought like a warrior and had absolutely no excuses after losing. A class act all the way.
Nothing but respect for Tomasz Adamek.
Yes, Lewis' win over Vitali was legitimate, but it wasn't convincing. I would have loved to have seen a rematch.
As far as Wladimir is concerned. There's no way he'd be able to withstand Lewis' bombs the way his big brother did.
I'd like to see this happen.
I can actually see a lot of British fans being hostile towards Haye if it happened over here. Haye's actions before, during and after the Wladimir fight did nothing to increase his popularity. On the other side of the coin, the whole affair made both Klitschkos very popular in Britain.
Black and orange, uh? Surely, black and blue would be more appropriate for the beating he'll get.
But seriously, I actually want Adamek to win this but I don't think he will.
Also, I'm obsessed with ring gear! I make a mental note of what boxers are wearing in fights just so I can update their attire in Fight Night Champion. Yes, I'm a very sad human-being. :D
If I recall correctly, even though I wanted Groves to win the fight, I think I had DeGale winning it by one or two rounds. Oh, well. Boxing is very subjective.
I still see DeGale becoming more successful than Groves in the long run. It is a bit ridiculous that his first fight after a loss is for a title though. :D
