Should Lewis have given Vitali a rematch?
I don't know what everyone else say, but i was surprised to see vitali throw jab after jab and actually hit lewis with some god combo's without etting his head knocked off, but I did see vitali almost get his head knocked into a the 4th for 5th row by a dveasting upperct in one of the mid rounds and as lewis rubbed the dreadlocks in teh cut and keep uppercutting Vitali in that eye it started to look worse and worse. They rightfully stopped the fight, because his eye was utterly f*cked up, but regardless of what anyone says...Vitali would have finished the night on his back plain and simple...But!!!!!!! The God-Awful Clinch...
I am posting this to vent and to question in regards to the clinch. I was always under the assumption that clinching (i.e. holding) in boxing was technically illegal. Even though it is illegal, clinching to some degree is inevitable when two guys are attacking each other. But HOW DID IT EVER BECOME A CLEAR TACTICAL DECISION FREQUENTLY USED? In short, does anyone have any thoughts about how/why clinching has become so prevalent and tolerated in boxing today? I personally hate it. It ruins fights. I have often, in the heat of frustration, opined that the referee should have a 2 foot section of garden hose that he can whip viciously across the arms and shoulders of repeat (Ruiz-esque) offenders.

I just looked up the rules and it clearly states that hugging or wrestling is not permitted. I think clinching is what turns a lot of people off from boxing. Personally the sh*t pisses me off. Why would they expect a bunch of horrible fights to make a lot of money?I was thinking the same thing. I normally watch any boxing match that come on tv, with the exception for the Klitscho/Williamsm fight I wouldn't have watched any of the last few HW PPV fights even if they were shown on FSN...The HW division sucks right now.
