Reed, haven't you got anything better to do than sit behind a forum making threads about manny and cotto. Do you think the pair are really assed, at what people behind a PC screen think or say about them?
They are making millions of dollars and are huge superstars.
You ****ing idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He got fed by tomato cans. He dosen't have a good amateur background and still make many technical mistakes.
He's all hype.
How many amature fights did he have?
I would like to see floyd fight spadafora while he waits for the manny pac fight . Plus him and spaddy could sell! paul beat mayweather up in sparring a couple of years ago, also spadafora is unbeaten a former world champion and now trained by the great pernel whitaker.
europe man, i can't stand it, all the boys in the neighbourhood only like the usual football and kickboxing, there is only 1 boxing gym in my city :grumpy:
Were about in europe?
TOTALLY AGREED. And the same can be said for Tszyu. Thank you for finally saying what needed to be said. Hearns was extraordinary, he just didn't have the marketing team that Leonard had............or the smile. Sad but true.
So your saying the only reason Leonard was greater is because of marketing? Don't talk Bullshit, Leonard was the greater fighter due to being more consistet, having the better wins and beating Hearns when they fought.
There is no douting Chris heart. But he just got ouclassed last night by the better fighter. Chris needs to become more dedicated to boxing, and make some changes to his career and style, I would also like to see him hire a new trainer.
Looking how good he looked against JMM, I find it hard to belive that the 140 Peterson beat Floyd Up. But I have always thought Mayweather has never been a great sparring fighter, he leaves his best work for the ring.
Against Spadafora, he was out of shape and the sparring session was really close until the very end.
Leonard......
Ray's wins are incredible.........
Wifred Benitez (38-0)
Roberto Duran (72-1) x2
Ayub Kalule (36-0)
Thomas Hearns (32-0)
Marvin Hagler (62-2)
.5 Weight World Champion
Hearns in his own right is a ATG fighter, but he wasnt as great as Leonard was.
I actually think that if Hearns and Leonard had fought at 154, Hearns would have beaten him. Hearns was overall his best at 154lbs. power, speed, even better in the durability and stamina department.
lets face it...If Hearns and Leonard had fought in a 12 round fight, Hearns would have walked away with a convincing 9-3 round decision win. Which doesnt matter that much, but it should be taken into account a little.
''But, If, Could, Would, etc etc. At the end of the day when they fought Leonard stopped him. Fact, so don't try and discredit Leonard's win.
Hearns beat Benitez as well, at Benitez's best weight imo
He also beat Duran, and never lost to him
imo his win over Virgil Hill>the Ayub Kalule win
He beat Leonard right after Leonard 'beat' Hagler...he should get about as much credit as Leonard's win over Hagler
Hearns was way ahead of Leonard before the late fight KO, and imo his other 10+ wins over top ranked contenders just about evens it out for me.
Leaonrd defeated Benitez when Benitez was UNDEFEATED, that is more impressive for me.
When they fought LEONARD BEAT HIM FAIR AND SQUARE
Leonard ended the 7 year reign of Hagler, something which Hearns cound't do.
Leonard in his prime or near his prime would of never lost to Iran Barkely twice.
Kalue in his prime was just as good as Hill, and when Hill fought Hearns he froze and admitts he did.
He's a journeyman who's past it.
I think he ment how good he was in his prime, not now.
Corley at his best could always push the best and was a pretty capable fighter. Him and Zab Judah was a very close fight, him and Zab also had a fight in a bar.
He also did make 2 defences of his WBO Title
hmm, 3 or 4 years before he turned pro, about 6 years before he won his first WBO title, and 10 years before he fought Lewis.
quite a way back for him.
Do Vitali has been boxing from the age of 13..........it's not like he was just introduced to boxing in his 20's after Kickboxing. He was also a great amature boxer.
It was a supposedly a kick to the body, not a head kick.
where's the proof?
I call bullshit, I agree with Vitali, it never happened.
and if it did happen, who gives a flying fukk? Vitali was just a kid back then and only weighed around 200 lbs when he was kickboxing.
I read a interview with Pele Reid, in the boxing monthly i belive, and he says there were many witness's who saw Viatli knocked out.
and of course your going to call bullshit, because your head is up vitali's asshole!
Also interesting to know that, UK Heavyweight Pele Reid has knocked Vitali out cold with a head kick in a Kickboxing match.
Reid was nothing more tha medicore level in boxing.
I think both parties exaggerate what actually happened, much like when Maskaev claimed he KO'd Vitali while Vitali claimed he was only stopped because of he went into the fight with an injury. In truth he probably did go into the fight with an injury but Maskaev was also beating him badly enough for the fight to be stopped by Vitali's corner.
True, Oleg has claimed plenty of times he knocked out Vitali in a amature bout, and I belive the result does go down as a KO loss for Vitali not, a corner stoppage so i belive.
Reid may actually be telling the truth, a Head Kick is most likely more powerfull than a punch and if hit clean with one, 99% of the time any man will be knocked out.
And Vitali was no different.......
I don't think Vitali was ever knocked out cold. Vitali claims it was a leg kick, from what I've read it was a spinning head kick that dropped Vitali but he was on his feet when the fight was stopped.
Check out the spinning back fist at 9:15.
Hmmmmm.........Interesting, Reid claimed Vitali was out cold. Reid says he hit a direct kick on Vitali's jaw which put for Vitali out.
Reid also said, Vitali makes out like the fight never even happened. Do you think Reid would make all this up?
Hmmmm. It won't be nothing to serious or hard a fight. I would like to see him maybe fight against Yusaf Mack, or Troy Ross.
Or a Sakio Bika fight would make sense, Bika is pretty well known from the contender and it would be a pretty interesting fight.
You probably didn't understand what I was saying. He did not focus on his boxing career until after his kickboxing career was over and all of his accomplishments as an amateur boxer were achieved in the mid 1990's when he was already well into his 20's.
I never denied that he started boxing at age 13, in fact I brought it up in an earlier post.
Ahhhhhh. I understand now what you were saying.
Vitali was actually ment to go to the Olympic Games in 96 but tested positive for a banned substance.
"When 13-year-old Vitali put on a pair of boxing gloves for the very first time, nobody could have imagined that he would become one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time. Vitali started his career as a successful Kickboxer – he became a six-time Kickboxing-World-Champion, twice as an amateur und four times as a professional. It was not before later when Vitali discovered his passion for boxing and quite fast he was very successful too: As an amateur he became Ukrainian Heavyweight Champion three times, champion of the first World Military Games and winner of the silver medal at the amateur world championships."
http://www.klitschko.com/eng/vitali.html
So why would he say he started boxing at 13 then? If he kickboxed first then turned to boxing, he wasn't a kickboxing world champion 6 times, before the age of 13, that is impossible.
so it's not making no sense..........
He only began to focus on boxing instead of kickboxing in the mid 1990's however.
No, Vitali has always devoted a big part of his life to boxing from the age of 13. He was a great boxing amature and in his early 20's he won a silver medal at the world championships.
He had 210 boxing amature fights
He won a silver medal in 1995, after he had already discontinued his kickboxing career.
All of his amateur boxing accomplishments were achieved after he had stopped being a kickboxer.
Agreed. He seems a bit more agile but not as strong and likely less durable.
No, he had won amature boxing title at junior level aswell. He has always boxed. But just always mixed kicboxing in aswell.
