Aside from the expectation that Tyson would knock guys out in round 1, and other scenarios like that, have you ever seen a fighter publicly state on record that he's going to finish a guy in a round, and then actually do it?
I remember a couple of close ones.. Floyd predicted he would finish Ndou (I believe it was round 6?) and then finished him off in the very next round
I'll never forget Holy saying he was going to take Lewis out in round 3 and he came out swinging! Although Lewis was really in no danger of going out. I mention this mainly because I thought it was hilarious that when asked what he would do if he couldn't get Lewis out of there in 3, Holyfield responded with "There is no plan B."
I remember Roach saying Pac was going to beat Oscar in the round that it actually happened, although I did not hear it from Pac.
Anybody else?
Yeh Ali did that as well as Naseem Hamed.
Those are the only two people that come to mind for me too.
I think Naz had more correct predictions than Ali.
:boxing:
I have a different question.
Did any fighter ever pick the round that they would get knocked out in? :lol1:
Hearns said he'd knock out Hagler in 3 and ended up getting knocked out in 3.
ali would always do that shit
"he must go' in fo'!"
lol I knew Ali stated that kind of stuff in his "poetry" although I did not know how often it actually happened. Pete McNeeley also said: "I'm Pete McNeely from Medfield, Mass. and on Saturday night I'm gonna kick Tyson's ass!" LoL
