Great post. This is why I consider GGG a middle weight GOAT. At 37 he's up there p4p with the best. Roy jones jr was getting koed by journeyman at 35. It's called consistency. According to the racist trolls, GGG can never be past his prime. He'll be in his prime till 45. LOL for a moment there I thought you said Golovkin was the GOAT in a weight class that includes SRR, Hagler and Monzon.

Can anyone explain how someone goes from being staggered by cottos brother and unable to walk down floyd to taking flush shots off punchers like ggg and jacobs without flinching whilst walking them down seemingly with more strength. Is it elite level neck training or something that can enhance chin? Experience and age. The great Salvador Sanchez was dropped by two unknowns when he was 18 (he turned pro at 16), and never touched the canvas again. Years later he walked through the best punches of Little Red Lopez, the Professor and, most notably, Wilfredo Gomez, arguably the hardest super bantam puncher ever, without even flinching. It's hardly unusual, honestly.

The first video I posted shows Jacobs missing about 20 straight punches while during that same 15 sec video canelo threw 2 punches landed both clean first a hard jab and then ending the round with a hard uppercut. Jacobs didn't block either lol I can post tons of videos of Canelo landing clean he obviously landed more then Jacobs the punch stats prove that and he landed at double the connect rate (canelo 40% of punches he threw landed while only 20% of what Jacobs threw landed). But this thread is about canelo making Jacobs look foolish so I'm talking about his defense. It was a boxing lesson. It's hard to make a professional fighter, let alone a champion, look clumsy and uncoordinated, and Canelo did just that. I do think though, that Canelo got a little too enamored with his defense, got a little bit too cute, and that prevented him from attacking more and scoring an even clearer victor, even a stoppage. He was so much in control that he got overconfident and a bit ****y, I think.

Judges score clean punching, effective aggressiveness, ring generalship, and defense. Does anyone honestly believe that Jacobs bested Canelo in any of those factors during the whole fight? Some people here appear to think that the boxer who lands the best shot wins the round, and it's just not the case. Canelo took Jacobs to school for most of the fight. Sure, Danny eked out three or four rounds, but this was a fight with a very clear result and the judges got it right.

Salvador Sanchez & Julio Cesar Chavez Will always rank above Canelo on skill set and resume alone. I agree with this. Canelo will never be as complete a fighter as Sanchez was (very few in history were), and Chavez basically has the same skill set as Canelo except he did everything a little bit better.

Wow! The Canelo hate is very strong in Mexico. Even the legends are jealous of him. Before his career is over he will be in the top 3. Chavez is not wrong. Himself, Sal Sánchez, JMM, Carlos Zárate and maybe Olivares and MAB are still ahead of him. Canto possibly, or Finito if you care about straws. I believe though that he's going to surpass everyone on that list except the top 2.

I am an African American, not a Mexican, so if I am wrong, feel free to correct me. I feel like the legendary Mexican fighters are hating on Canelo, JMM actually attempted to claim that Jacobs won the fight, now Chavez is saying, that Canelo, who commercially has surpassed any Mexican fighter ever, and is developing into an All Time Great, is not a top 3 or 4 fighter of all time in the context of Mexican fighters. That's BS, crap, of course he is, there has never been someone like him, he crossed over to a level superstardom that is unprecedented. Chavez was beloved in Mexico, and greatly respected in the US. Canelo is beyond that, he is a crossover mainstream sports star, much more marketable than Chavez ever was, there is a massive difference, and if he continues to develop at this rate, he will be seen as the greatest Mexican fighter of all time hands down. He's the most popular Mexican fighter ever outside of Mexico, if that makes sense (he is not as loved here as he totally should), and also the only one who's been any good above welter. To finally and decisively conquer the Mexican fans he still needs to have a classic all out Mexican battle. JMM only became a fan favorite after he beat Pacquiao. Terrible and MAB had their trilogy and we loved them both for it (beating Pac and Hamed didn't hurt them too). Chavez was always Chavez. Notably, Sanchez shut Wilfredo Gomez up, and so he instantly reached legend status. While GGG is arguably better than any of the fighters Chavez ever beat, we hardly knew him and didn't hate him at all, like we did Gomez or Camacho. So Canelo needs that. But purely as a boxer, he has yet to crack the top 5. Chavez, Sal and Zarate are clearly still above him, and maybe a couple more as well.
