It's on YouTube. I would get u a link but I'm at work & it's rough getting YouTube links on the iPhone. Search for the presser & watch one of the longer ones that shows when they first come face to face & you will see it - hilarious! Thanks for the green k!
At Mashantucket, Conn. (Showtime): Carl Froch vs. Jermain Taylor, 12 rounds, for Froch's WBC super middleweight title; Allan Green vs. Carlos De Leon Jr., 10 rounds, super middleweights; Paulie Malignaggi vs. Chris Fernandez, 8 rounds, junior welterweights; Dominic Guinn vs. Johnnie White, 10 rounds, heavyweights; Danny O'Connor vs. Travis Hartman, 4 rounds, junior welterweights; Jonathan Nelson vs. Eddie Caminero, 6 rounds, super middleweights
That's way too many fights for Frock vs Taylor to start at 9pm.
For sure the Taylor fight will be on Showtime but it doesn't say anything about the undercard if they intend to air it. It starts at 9:00, I think that is pretty early to just feature that fight.
Casual fans, gotta love em.
I've been watching boxing for years my friend. Litzau is a young exciting fighter, I don't care if he doesn't match up to the guy in your avatar (the #1 favorite of all casual fans).
The game is really fun. I do have a minor gripe though. The fights revolve around counter punching too much. A guy like Paul Williams or Kelly Pavlik would have a tough time fighting like they want you to fight in this game. I have a friend who plays & uses his special punch (ducking hook) & get easy knockdowns left & right.
Maybe I'm being a little critical, other than that stuff its a lot of fun.
Malignaggi still is the real deal. So what if he lacks power, he is still exciting to watch. He has tremendous speed & heart, but that gains you no respect with some people around here.
The night of the Hatton fight he didn't seem like himself at all. He seemed the be afraid to throw his mangled right hand. I think he realizes that he is entered a point in his career where he just has to let his hands go or hang it up. I have faith in him and I'm looking forward to his fight with Juan Diaz in August.
Paulie looked the best I've seen him in years last night. I've followed his career since early 2003. He's an elite boxer and was shamefully robbed last night.
Rubio is a tough guy. He chose to not exchange and focus almost 100% on defense. That is why he lasted 9 rounds. Pavlik did exactly what he needed to do in there. He busted Rubio up with methodical precision and dominated every single round. I give the man an A for his performance.
On another note it was great to see a real boxing crowd whooping it up Youngstown. Real hard core fight fans filled that place up and they were off the hook for their hometown hero. It was nice not to see a bunch of fake titty bitches that have no damn clue about the game sitting there with a bunch of celebrities just looking to get their name on TV yet again. Real Fans there in Youngstown!
I definately agree. I live about a half hour away in Akron and I regret not going. He's supposed to be fighting in Cleveland for his next fight & I WILL be there! NE Ohio has great boxing fans.
the best.... that rope-a-dope shit wouldnt have worked on tyson
tyson was a better boxer and a harder puncher than all of those guys imo
Well said. Ali would have a rude awakening fighting Tyson. He wasn't reminiscent of the slower powerful brawlers of Ali's day.
Thanks to everyone!
I had the interview this morning & I did the presentation on Boxing/MMA. I cited the differences and similarities of both. Of course it was bias since I love boxing & don't enjoy MMA. Before I got started I asked if anyone was a fan of either & of the 7 I interviewed in front of, only 1 was a fan (of boxing :boxing:), luckily for me it was the old man that started the firm years ago and he really seemed to enjoy my presentation.
Anyway I think I conveyed confidence and poise under pressure which is exactly what they were looking for. All in all it was a success. So, thanks again to everyone who contributed to ideas and backgrounds of both sports. I should be finding out early next week if I get the job or not!
Thanks for the tips already guys. This is helping me collect my thoughts and figure out how I want to outline this presentation. My guess is that these guys probably are hardcore fans like us and I could eat up some time on the history of both sports.
Keep em comin, thanks again
I dont think its such a good topic to do, not only because I dont like the whole debate but also because it might not be a great topic for a job interview.
thats just what I think though.
The guy told me to not make it finance related. He said pick a sport, hobby, or something that interests me to talk about. I think it's a pretty decent topic.
I want to compare & contrast the two & end with obviously more plus's toward boxing.
I'm thinking about covering the following aspects:
1. Histories
2. Techniques/Conditioning
3. Promoting/PPVs
4. World wide appeal
5. Future
I don't know, I'm kind of getting a overall picture of how I want to do this. Anyone else have any ideas?
It shouldn't have been a split decision. Floyd won decisively, albeit a very boring fight. IMO the PPV was a disaster. Over 2mil PPV buys, and they put together a boring undercard & a main event that was a snoozer. I think the split decision was wishful excitement for the judges who were probably nodding off.
Is Roach revered enough in the Philippines for him to get a statue or park named after him? I mean we all know that there are or will be numerous ones for Pacquaio but how famous and popular is Roach?
that would be pretty cool
Floyd is now a C List celebrity.... He's too busy with all the stuff big celebrities do like: wrestling, promoting a lame rap label, dancing with other washed up celebs and being bitter about his past career.
I have to agree with everyone that Floyd did start to take the fight in the later rounds. But it's one of my favorite PBF fights because he was finally matched with someone who could rival his speed.
He couldn't do things against Zab that he did with other opponents. He was getting tagged consistantly when he tried shooting in with his right and Zab is probably the only fighter that I've seen that effectively countered a decent share of Mayweather's offense.
all in all it may not have been as close as Castillo I but I think it was for the most part an action packed fight that didn't follow the same formula as all of Floyd's other fights.
At one time I had high expectations for Manfredo but he's been on a skid for a while now. I don't know if he has anything special, he looks HORRIBLE against Calzslappy.
MMA is homo

hahaha
(see my sig)
Rednecks (that are 50% in shape compared to most boxers) dryhumping in a cage for a couple rounds isn't something I'm into.
The Rocky movies are my top along with Raging Bull.
Aside from those, Cinderella Man was good.
I need to see some of these Tyson documentaries you guys are talking about
It's loser not looser.... I wanted Margarito to win so how does that make me a sore "looser"? I'm not a brainless fan though, I can respect both fighters and I feel like they shit on Cotto. I guy who fought his ass off and accepted the fight when other have ducked Margarito. The video at the end was flat out tasteless.
lol only mugs pay 50 dollas to watch a fight at home the hole concept of ppv is a joke hbo expect you to pay for the privelage of watchin there channle THEN they expect you to pay again to watch the best fights its a complete rip off, 50 dollas is a fair price if you actually goin to the live event but not sat at home why dont they just have adverts ect this is why boxing is goin down the pan , i think they should scrap ppv all together .................... its total greed
Can someone translate this?
