I am just curious to see who here thought Malignaggi was the real deal before he was destroyed by Cotto?
And did his loss to Hatton prove that Malignaggi sucks?
why does this guy get so much hype. look at his resume.
he lost to cotto but put up a good fight and hatton dominated him
best win and performance is over lovemore ndou in the first fight
razor close fights against ngoudjo and lovemore ndou(second fight) guys who aren't even top fighters
bradley already beat 2 top 5 guys in witter and holt and yet malignaggi still lands big fights on hbo cause he's a cocky new yorker who pretends he's good.
at least juan diaz will beat him into retirement.
I had heard a lot about the guy, but when I saw him fight all the stuff that I heard didn't seem to match up. As a matter of fact, I made a few threads about the guy some time back because I was asking WHO was he. He did a lot of talking leading up to that Cotto fight, but I will commend him for being tough. Cotto basically killed the guy, but he never quit and he fought to the end. So, he has earned my respect as being a tough guy.
Malignaggi still is the real deal. So what if he lacks power, he is still exciting to watch. He has tremendous speed & heart, but that gains you no respect with some people around here.
The night of the Hatton fight he didn't seem like himself at all. He seemed the be afraid to throw his mangled right hand. I think he realizes that he is entered a point in his career where he just has to let his hands go or hang it up. I have faith in him and I'm looking forward to his fight with Juan Diaz in August.
He obviously has boxing skills, but does he just not commit to his punches when he throws? Does he not sit on them? What's his deal exactly?
No, seeing him work the heavy bag is one of the most pathetic sights you could ever see. The guy truly has no power at all.
I only gave him 1 round in the hatton fight, the first round than Hatton took over. He complained about his trainer stopping the fight, but its not like pillow punching man could come back with a KO after getting dominated in almost every round except the first.
I honestly had never seen Paulie fight before Cotto. I did think after that he'd have a belt in his future tho. And after how Hatton looked against Lazcano, I picked Paulie to beat him. I wouldn't say he's shit, but he's just to light hittin to be the man in his division.
Malignaggi was the real deal, it's just too bad he doesn't have any power to supplement his abilities. His boxing abilities were very impressive up until he fought Cotto then everyone could see that his heart was just as impressive as his abilities in the ring...how the hell do you box with a broken orbital and continue fighting is beyond comprehension. I can't deny that Paulie was and is a class act. He was recently saying when asked, "Since you fought Cotto and Hatton, which one hits hard?" Paulie stated, " Whoa hold on Hatton hits nothing like Cotto! Cotto is far more powerful than Hatton." I thought that was pretty interesting.
i thought he had skillz. i don't blame him for the cotto fight, i thought he put up a good fight against a beast. but then he lost to hatton who i thought he could outbox. i guess pillows can only take you so far.
