Haye's preparing to fight a mandatory now. Valuev-Haye wasn't competitive and I really hope the WBA doesn't have him make another defense before he starts trying to unify.
Juanma is still being protected and his team doesn't want put him in with Caballero yet. Cab's right, he can't get get a fight against top opposition and I can understand why he's talking so much. Juanma still won't fight Caballero. I think fans would be dissing him on message boards whether he was Puerto Rican, Brazilian or Scottish.
wow, he sounds immature. he's still in a position to fight top fighters and he's fighting one in Martinez. opinions will change once he gets back to winning big fights.
i don't fault Khan for that, but.. I actually thought Froch edged it out and it was a close, competitive fight. Amir still got knocked out in the 1st round by a a guy who went on to lose 2 of his next 3 fights.
haye was UD CW champ and now HW champ. and you my friend are a bitter hater. grow up
Haye has talent, but he talked about fighting the Klitschko's and ran his mouth for a long time, and now he's avoiding the fight. Haye and his people aren't even trying to defend that. People wanted to see the fight, he opened himself up for this kind of criticism.
he needs to stop stalling, he's supposed to fight a Klitschko this summer. he's an exciting fighter and i've been rooting for him, but I really can't anymore b/c this is pathetic.
floyd has the ppv numbers on manny if you look at their last 4 or 5 fights. i don't know how else they actually keep track of the revenue, but if he's worth more, make it 50 Floyd - 45 Manny, 5 to winner and let them both take the tests,
don't take blood right before the fight, maybe a week or a little less.
if the reasoning really is to keep the fighters off guard, i could see why the USADA wouldn't want to make a guarantee. in the Mayweather-Mosley fight, if the latest blood tests they took were really 17 days before the fight, they're not likely to take blood from either of them right before the fight, which is when it matters.
floyd's supposed to get a lesser deal b/c manny's a more likable guy?
Pavlik is gonna talk that BS after he pulled that shit with Williams. even all those made-up stories were true, he pulled out twice and put Paul in a bad position. now he's going to keep talking about still wanting to fight Paul, but he's criticizing him and saying some BS trying to get leverage in case they try to make the fight again. not cool. A 50/50 split would be more than fair for Kelly at this point.
it's a dirty game. I hope Oscar steps up and tries to do the right thing with GBP and fight for their boxers, so it doesn't turn out like every other promotional company.
He wasn't just brushing over the idea of a Calzaghe fight and saying a sentence. Even if the question was preposed to him, he's still talking about him and he went on a little bit. He's saying he's going to prove more than Joe ever did. It's not as though he really said nothing or a sentence. He's trying to entice him into a fight without actually saying it or being blatantly disrespectful. He can't get off Calzaghe. Not a big story, but it's not hard to see that either.
Haye's HW performances haven't been great either. I think he has the skills to beat a Klitschko but I'm not sure about his mental toughness or his chin. Questionable stamina too. Haye needs to get rid of Ruiz and do what he needs to do to get Vitali or Wlad in the ring as his next opponent for a big fight where he'll get paid properly now that he's a beltholder. Too much talk, too much wait. Get it done.
Saying that Haye has the skills to beat a Klitschko, implies that Klitschko doesn't have the skills to beat a Haye.
Your letter reminds me of the Jackie Mason skit, where he said that he'd boxed when younger.
In describing his fighting persona, he said "........ Yes I was a fighter; in the ring I'd throw a left, a right a left another right, an uppercut.......
Then my opponent would get into the ring....."
I didn't think it really implies he doesn't have the skills to beat Haye. Haye's the obvious underdog, but I think he's good enough to pull an upset if he can find a way to deal with Klitschko's size and strength. It wouldn't surprise me much if Vitali or Wlad beat Haye either, they're the top 2 heavyweights right now. I didn't think I needed to say that much. I'm just rooting for Haye to pull the upset, and I think it's possible.
Pavlik did more than either guy at Middleweight, but he was considered the best at MW, and AA was considered number 2. Pavlik didn't want it with AA. I don't feel like he's treated that unfarily. He wasn't at his best for the Hopkins fight and he was against a bigger, slicker guy, tough fight.. but he shouldn't have lost like that. Pavlik's speed and stamina wasn't enough for an old Hopkins. Now he complains a lot and makes excuses.
Marquez doesn't want to be a welterweight, he had two close fights with Pacquiao he wants a third. Let Manny fight Berto, who else is he going to fight?
a lot of effort if you're being tested randomly. it would make it a little more difficult to cheat at least. it could cut down and prevent some cheating.
So, a BoxingScene.com writer is trying to apply pressure on Mayweather to agree to Arum's terms, with "Blame Mayweather" in the title. They didn't get at Pacquiao when he supposedly wasn't agreeing to a 50/50 deal with the drug testing now later than 2 weeks before the fight. They're still negotiating, we don't even know the details yet and we're supposed to blame Floyd just because this writer says so without making any points. This guy's trying to threaten Mayweather's legacy with media influence and saying he'll be regarded as a safety-first guy instead of a defensive genius, etc, etc. It's BS that Arum has this kind of influence, and that the media hates Mayweather so much they try and pull things like this. I don't see how it's justified. Everyone's supposed to be quiet until the deal is done or falls through. This article is shameful. At least right now, Mayweather's team is being quiet like they're supposed to be during the negotiations.
Dirrell fought like a punk and he wasn't just evasive... he ran and held and did whatever he could to avoid a fight. He looked more impressive than Froch athletically, but he didn't do enough. He could have won fighting that way if he had just thrown and landed more punches. Dirrell didn't want it and he didn't deserve the decision. You can't really compare what Dirrell did to what guys like Calzaghe and even Mayweather do. Even Calzaghe was evasive and threw a lot of small punches, and had a questionable looking style.. but he never ran and he stood his ground.
what a bitter asshole. maybe calzaghe was bored, maybe he was unhappy he had to put part of his life behind him. itwho cares if he had a lot of free time before. it doesn't make it a great thing to do, but what else could he really say was the reason he was doing cocaine. who cares if joe gave up on promoting or he wasn't comitted to it? i don't think he owes it to anyone to be more commited to being a promoter, he did a pretty good job as a boxer. that's supposed to raise questions about his character? joe calzaghe's not publishing articles on boxingscene dissing Frank Warren for being a petty little asshole who managed to make a lot of money doing nothing other than setting up other people's fights and ripping them off.
calzaghe was living his own life, doing his own thing quietly until the UK's intrusive tabloids did an undercover investigation not to discover anything significant and uncover any kind of dirt or for some kind of greater good, but to drag a retired athlete down and trick the man into admitting he does cocaine on camera so the world could know. seems strange, and frank's slimy ass was probably part of it. Calzaghe KO'ed your ass in court, they took his side. Move on.
What is clear to me that if you're anyone not named Cintron you deserve justice and fairness.
If you're Cintron, people just pretend you never schooled Williams.
sad....
"In almost every other state in the nation, the fight would have been ruled a no decision because it would have been fought under the Association of Boxing Commissions rules, which say a fight must go four complete rounds before you can go to the cards for a technical decision. Those are the rules the Cintron camp wanted before the fight, but they were rejected. The geniuses in California, however, have a rule that as long as the fourth round begins, a technical decision can be declared if there is an accidental foul. So this one ended early in the fourth round and it went to the cards, which included having the judges absurdly score the partial fourth round in which nothing definitive happened other than Cintron being ejected from the ring." from ESPN
I thought Cintron was up 2-1 after 3 rounds. Even if he didn't dive, which it really looks like he did if you watch the replay, it was only 4 rounds in, which shouldn't have been long enough to have a decision. He had no serious injuries and told the doctor he didn't want to fight after he hopped out. He tried to run away with one.
There's evidence that there was tampering, not that Margarito was aware. Oscar thinks Margarito should be held responsible for whatever is in his gloves.
If Golden Boy is so righteous they'll donate their Manny Pacquiao money as the cheater continues to fight? Golden Boy's not perfect either, but they're not wrong here. **** Margarito. I don't think it's surprising that Arum's angry and saying stupid things about Golden Boy, but he's doing it as he supports a guy who was loading his gloves. Stop BSing, this isn't a morality contest and Oscar has a point.
"Pacquiao had agreed to the 14-day cutoff date demanded by Mayweather before the talks on a May 1 fight fell through."
No, he didn't. That's wrong or at least misleading. He was saying 21 days, Floyd was saying 14 days before the fight fell apart. That was the reason they couldn't come to an agreement and the May 1 fight fell through. His team proposed that 14-day cutoff this time around.
:wtf1:
If Hatton wanted a payday, he'd fight Marquez. Hatton doesn't get into the kind of shape or have the kind of focus he'd need to. Maybe if he actually took care of himself, he'd have a chance at some kind of a comeback, but that's not something he does. If Hatton wants a chance at Mayweather again, I would think he'd have to pull an upset and beat a guy like a Cotto or Berto first. I don't Hatton will ever even be what he was before Mayweather. Huge waste of time, especially if Mayweather's not fighting very often. I could see why Mayweather could say easy fight, big money and do the rematch, but there are other fights out there. He knows it wouldn't look right when there are better boxers out there if he wasn't fighting them as well. He can make money fighting any of those guys and I think at this point, he does care about proving himself, his legacy, and he does care about cleaning out Welterweight.
