Good Comparison. However Ward doesn't have the skillset Mayweather is blessed with. Ward may be hungry, but i think his chin and defense is suspect. This is his test. I hope he passes. He got the toughest fight first in this tourney. Kessler is extremely accurate and has power, great boxer/puncher. If Ward can stay out of the way of Kesslers right all night and use the ring he has a real good chance to grab a decision win, more so since the fight is in his stomping grounds. But i just see Kessler catching Ward, and winning by 8 round TKO.
whether hes the PPV or king or not will be dealt with @ the end of his career. What we do know is Mayweather IS THE CASH COW, thats BEEN proven. Lets compare bank accounts, shall we.
first knockdown was a very nice shot. the position of the shot that KO'd Andrade was more luck then skill. good for Bute that it didn't go into deep waters. he needed to do that to win.
Opinions are OK. Ignorance and stupidity aren't worth respect. That is an incredibly stupid and ignorant statement.
Well put. If anything was close to fixed in Mayweathers career it was the first Castillo fight and thats well in the past. I don't get how people "boxing fans" w.e. you wanna call em can't comprehend or appreciate what Mayweather continues to do. And im not talking about winning. Im talking about his uncanny ability to make adjustments on the fly. His timing and accuracy is impeccable. Because of Floyds athletic talent people forget how intelligent he is in the ring. Probably the most intelligent fighter i have ever seen. He reads fighters and can anticipate there next move, he interrupts every fighter from establishing rhythm and counters beautifully. Every fighter hes faught in the last 5 years he as frustrated and discouraged them unlike they ever have been in their career. And to be honest besides De La Hoya in recent years he's embarrassed everyone of them. But i forgot they're always too old, too small, fight was fixed, or maybe the other fighter was drugged.
Guzman is troll. Dude messed up his biggest fight by not making weight and seemed to have no clue as to why. Then he apparently had such a great camp fer this rematch and he dropped the ball again? What a bum. Hope Funeka smokes him tonight. Do fighters teams not weight watch anymore? Or has the business got so comfortable knowing they're not gonna throw away an HBO fight let alone Funekas chance at becoming a name that they just dont care anymore.
Guzman your a washed up :wank:
Fair, but i dont understand how a new trainer is to make that much difference in terms getting Paulie to move his hands in fight where he should be moving them. You said yourself there is nothing your trainer can do to get the fighter to move his hands so i dont understand how changing trainer impacts on that side of things.
Well, the bottom line is Paulie needs to let his hands go, otherwise yes it won't make any difference. But trainers do more then provide a gameplan. A trainer is supposed to have a certain relationship with there fighter. A "intimate" one. Mentally its obvious Paulie is lacking, a trainer is an important tool to get a fighter prepared mentally as well as physically, its a very safe assumption that Buddy never did that. Im guessing there was a missing link there, one that Paulie needs. Buddy just wasn't fer Paulie??? It happens. We won't know if this will make a difference untill fight night. The work needs to start with Paulie HIMSELF. Bringing in a new trainer is kind of a no brainer when a fighter himself and others dont feel he's performing how he should. It might not be right or fair but its the way it goes.
True dat. Malignaggi should focus on what HE did not do. Not blame Buddy and not give Hatton his props.
He knows what he didn't do he's admitted in a few interviews after the fight, he admitted he's gun shy come fight night. That sub-conciously he's worried about his right hand. It's obvious. And important that he needs to deal with this because it almost cost him a few times, and def. did him in against Hatton. It's not about blaming Buddy. Buddy could have been the best trainer in the world(he's not close) and if your fighter ain't gonna throw leather he's gonna lose. Paulie knows what he needs to do. Getting rid of McGirt was the smartest decision he's ever made in his career. Maybe get rid of DiBella next.
To be quite honest i could give a flying fat gurl how many buys the fight did. The bottom line in boxing right now is if Mayweather v. Pacquiao doesn't happen its a slap in the face to the history of the sport and its purpose. I feel as if we haven't really seen the best two fighters in boxing face off in too long of a time. I agree with Mayweathers terms of the testing as well as Manny's. However i feel the tests shouldn't be an issue either way. With that said my personal opinion is that if the fight falls thru its Manny's fault based on a few different arguements. Everyone cross their fingers.
iagree that the fight was fixed and this is why...mayweather made mosely wait 10 extra minutes in the back ..that right there is out of character for mayweather when has that happened in all of mayweathers fight...???NEVER...mosely and mayweather went all out against each other in the first 2 rounds and we know what happened there..but this is where you need to look ...after mayweather had got stunned in the 2 nd time mosely had whispered sumthing in floyds ear..wut did he say??no one knows but i would assume that he said IS IT TIME YET..REFEERING TO HIM TO LET MAYWEATHER BEAT HIM..AND WE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED next...how can some1 who had the best round evr against floyd mayweather not have the confidence to fight back in exchanges and just let mayweather step it up without throwing back..LET ME KNOW...not he WARRIOR SHANE MOSELY that weve seen for years.. think about it mayweather fought the same way the whole fight so how can we say mayweather adapted...the only thing that happened was that the roles were reversed and mayweather paid for his legacy with a win over froyd mayweather mayweather prob did this so he can continue to think hes the best and fight a little pacman and think he going to whoop pac...but pac is a machine and if we see the fight and pacquioa all of a sudden dosent fight and mayweather DESTROYS pacman then his legacy should be questioned... FROYD MONEY GAYWEATHER IS A BITCH!GET HIM PACMAN!
Your 3 post count should end there. You clearly have no knowledge of boxing. I said this in another post but it applys here as well....

The naysayers must have sh!t on their Oakleys. Embrace greatness. Deflect hateness. PacMan has a punchers chance, and to be honest thats all anyone has against Floyd. I dont think any gameplan will suffice besides a chin checking gameplan. You will not go 12 with Floyd and win. You must land that perfect shot. Mosley tried to capitalize in Round 2, Mayweather weathered the storm and when the stars cleared he finished the Round strong. After a 3 punch combo early in Round 3 landed my Mayweather the fight was finished.
p.s. fer those of you that throw around Gayweathers and PacTards, all those other un-creative names.... Whether your on Mayweathers d!ck or PacMans d!ck, you're on a d!ck. Take a break get, off the d!ck and get honest.
I think the last straw was the throwing in of the towel. But I think DiBella's done good job with Paulie. Got him fights with Cotto and Hatton. Who how many other fighters can say they have done that.
Throwing in the towel was mos def the last straw. That was a tough decision and i can't say it was a terribly bad one but still. Ya DiBella isn't half bad. You're right with those 2 fights. From my understanding DiBella was severly neglecting Paulie for Berto, which makes sense completely, from a business stand point. And even tho Paulie had to wait for Hatton DiBella still got it done and Paulie didn't hold up his end.
How did McGirt ruin Gatti's career? If you are going to make a comment like this then at least provide more information.
Proof is in the pudding, he tried turning Gatti into a pure boxer. Gatti was a good boxer but McGirt didn't do anything but neglect his strengths it was obvious in his performances. Mayweather is Mayweather but, he tried boxing Mayweather, which 99% of fighters can't do let alone Gatti. And your going to tell me that had nothing to do with McGirt. And that was just an obvious example.
Trainer of the year in 2002 thats ONE positive, too bad its 2009 and in that 7 years he ain't did nothin.
Heres some food for thought, or "information":
" After his career as a boxer ended, he became a trainer. McGirt trains many top ranked fighters, including Antonio Tarver, Timo Hoffmann, Paulie Malignaggi, James McGirt Jr., and A'Kaytai Lionking Jones. He has recently taken 3 English fighters, Paul Smith, Brian Mihtar, Matthew Macklin, and Audley Harrison. He won the Boxing Writers' Association of America Trainer of the Year Award for 2002.
Some of his high-profile fights have ended in defeats for his fighters, including Lamon Brewster who lost his WBO title in a rematch to Wladimir Klitschko, (IBF Light Heavyweight champion), Antonio Tarver who lost to Bernard Hopkins, Paulie Malignaggi who lost to Ricky Hatton, and Arturo Gatti who was KO'd by Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Carlos Baldomir. put "e.a.s.t.s.i.d.e." where the *'s are, it won't take the link, must be because its a "rival" site, thats stupid.
rude awakening? scared? You guys are talking about Miguel Angel Cotto not a subpar Daniel Santos or Cornelius Bundrage. Foremans circus movement is only chance @ winning this fight. But Cotto is superb @ cutting off the ring, look fer the hook to the body to slow down the orthodox Yuri.
Never said that, to compare fighters across how lines of performance against another fighter is not possible. Cotto easily outboxed Mosley for 12 rounds why wouldn't or couldn't Floyd??? Who is the best PURE boxer of this era. And thats exactly what he did. I think PacMan woulda KO'd Mosley and that Mayweather could of if he wasn't so cautious and if Mosley wasn't hugging him. And Marquez gave PacMan all he could handle. Floyd has done this for years. I re-watched the fight 4x. Mayweather stayed out of range from Mosleys right hand and rolled the rest off his shoulder. Which he has done fer 41 fights. Watch Mayweather survive Round 2. Then Round 3 Mosley came out agressive missed a right and Mayweather landed a three punch combo. The look on Mosleys face the rest of that Round and the rest of the fight and in the corner was one of confusion, discouragement and a beaten fighter. As many of Floyds opponents look like after Rounds 3-6. Mosley was 38, Floyd made him look 48. Which is what Floyd SHOULD do. Mosley had a close fight with Mayorga, you knew then it wasnt the Shane of old. His fight against Margarito was his last hoorah i called it right after. Margo was mentally shaken by what happen with the wraps moments before the fight and was tailor made fer Mosley. Every one has a punchers chance but If you didnt see this outcome of Mayweather/Mosley before this you are borderline Boxing illiterate. Mosleys increasing loss of balance and footwork along with jittery hesitant hands have been highly noticeable.
I don't see people denying that. Floyd is brilliant. Peoples problem is that he refuses to back up any of the trash he talks.
He talks all kinds of shit, then wins a dominating, safe, fight. He doesn't showboat, he doesn't go for the kill... he just fights the same conservative no frills fight.
He is the boxing equivalent of blue balls, and nobody likes blueballs.
he backs up the trash he talks on his terms, never steps outside of himself like so many other fighters have done and lost. Conservative is your opinion. Mine is intelligent. Smartest boxer ever to grace the sport. He goes for the kill but is sure not to put himself in harms way. You might not respect or agree with it, but you should learn to recognize it. He isn't as articulate as you want him to be with his mouth, but in that squared circle he's articulate as you can get. You don't need a KO. You need to impose YOUR will on your opponent and thats exactly what he does. You should be thankful he gave Shane 12Rds to land "the shot" he needed to win. Going 12RDs in the fashion he does is alot more impressive IMO. He's always been a cautious fighter. And why not? He knows his strenghts and his weaknesses he hold his strengths close and executes them to perfection while he exposes and capitalizes on his opponents weaknesses. How is that not backing it up? Don't worry ill wait.
Cotto is def. a different breed. Someone a person can rightfully admire. I'd have to say watching the Margarito fight and Pacquiao fight hurt me as much as it did him. He's someone you want to see @ the top of the top.
He's the guy Floyd Mayweather will fight instead of Cotto, SSM, Margarito, or Williams.
....Margarito? he shouldnt be in any conversation of a title shot ever again. He will be. But anyone that gives him a shot at a dime is a disgrace to boxing. Cotto is shot, he's got 1 maybe 2 fights. Why would u wanna watch Floyd starch Cotto? Pac-Man put a bigger dent in him. Floyd finishes him. SSM is looking for a payday, let him worry about Berto. He has an explosive young fighter in front of him. A fighter that didn't just get caught with plaster of paris in gloves as well. Who wants to face Williams thats at 147? Guy based on punch output and size alone is difficult. Especially when you can pick who you want to fight. Everyone should face Williams huh? If Floyd beats Pac-Man and happens to fight SSM or whoever. Wins both then retires. Everyones "ducking" Williams and no one needs him for their "legacy."
Lol, ok Salita.
Who is Salita by the way?
Who is Khan? Overrated, overhyped Brit? Looked good against a shot Barrera. We all know about his chin. Which is supposedly solved by the weight move up according to Khan. Salita might not beat con, but don't count on him not to. Even if Khan does win, he will get put to sleep on his way to the top. I don't care if Freddie was feeding him wheaties and making him drink his own "peeleft:
Lara should fight Danny Jacobs, who was Jose Varelas last opponent....difference in amount of fights however, Lara was internationally regarded whereas Danny was Golden Glove regarded....Hence Lara moving up in opposition faster, but i think it would be a great ShoBox fight.
theres no comparison between steroids and plastered wraps on any level. As a college football player and boxer i've seen the juice and the results, taking steroids is not much different then taking a something like a complete BSN cycle and busting @$$. Results are extremely similar and you don't get negative side effects, weak ligaments and tendons, dehydration...the list goes on, as you would with the juice. Steroids are huge in sports such as baseball, football, more muscular strength dependent sports. THEY ARE NOT BOXING FRIENDLY, Vargas may have learned that. I've seen others who have. Regardless come fight night, your not going into the ring with bricks in your hands. It's a crime and one that should be dealt with in federal court. And Margo should never fight again. Mosley should be suspended for his but a slap on the wrist compared to what Margo should get.
Hey jexy , nice avatar i made that graphic.
I've worked with a member or two of Team Malignaggi fer 2 years just prior to the Hatton fight. Did his myspace site, helped with things like that. I didnt collect no money or nothin just did it because i was able and Paulie is one of my favorite boxers. I remember having conversations with a member of his team on various occasions talking about Paulie wanting the Hatton fight when i first started. Paulie really wanted Hatton. In fact i talked alot with one of his team members and it was always about Boxing, and rarely about what kind of work they needed me to do for them. Paulie looked real good against Edner and great in his first fight against N'dou. From there he had sub-par performances leading up to the Hatton fight. I knew how bad Paulie wanted Hatton but could tell he wasn't ready. He wasn't throwing his right hand nearly enough no body work, he was trying to win his fights on jabs, and some occasional combos. He just lacked to show any sort of ability to keep Hatton at bay. The first round of the fight it looked like Paulie could mos def beat Hatton. And we all saw what happened from there. I ironic as it was, went away during the fight fer some trouble i got into and couldnt help the team at the time. And i remember making a phone call the next day to find out what happened, and i always had hope and thought paulie COULD beat Hatton. But i wasnt suprised when i heard the news. I watched the fight later on. Bottom line, Paulie has come up short to World Class opposition. Hatton and Cotto. I wouldn't call his Wins from Bums. Thats clearly ignorant. He beat some good prospects soundly working up to the Cotto fight and earned that fight. He showed a ton of heart and determination in that fight. Beat Edner Cherry a solid gatekeeper, contender as is/was Lovemore N'dou. And Herman Ngdoujo was a hot prospect when Paulie fought him. Beating Jose Luis Castillo(well should have) as well as Randall Bailey. My question is where is the Paulie that faught Miguel Cotto? If he is broken, thats where it happened. Paulie not only showed tremendous heart. He threw punches. Right hands, uppercuts. He boxed extremely well. Cotto was dried out at 140 but thats neither here nor there. Paulie just hasn't shown what it takes to be what he wants to be since that Cotto fight.
Paulie has what i think is the best jab in boxing or at least top 5. But he needs to throw that right hand, he needs to put combos together again, and throw behind the jab like he used to. He don't have power we know this. But he can box with the best. Paulie was at the least discouraged in the Hatton fight. Fighting a "bum" like this is what Zab Judahs been doin inbetween getting starched by belt holders. And he's still gettin title shots. Judahs a washed up punk. Paulie talks, thats Paulie. But he's a humble dude. I would think hes re-evaluated where he's at, otherwise Paulie would have called it quits. He obviously believes he got somethin left, i think so to. Buddy McGirt ruined Gatti's career and as "Great" of trainer as he is has ruined many. I knew this was a bad move from the get go. So all you haters wanna throw Paulie under the bus. Thats fine. I'll watch on 4/25. And decide after.
