Boxing’s pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather is now in the second half of his thirties, but he feels he has made the necessary adjustments to keep his crown on Saturday at the Las Vegas MGM Grand.
“It’s just starting camp a lot earlier now,” the 36-year-old Mayweather (43-0, 26 KOs) told Showtime’s Steve Farhood heading into his welterweight title defense against Robert Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 KOs). “I make sure everything is in place like it should be.”
Mayweather, whose father Floyd Sr. will be lead trainer in his corner for the first time in 13 years, expressed to the media that this was his best camp ever—even if the actual blueprint for success this weekend has not yet been revealed to him.
“[I’m going to] go out and execute the gameplan,” he said. “I really don’t know what the gameplan is at this particular time, but [I’m going to] go out there, be sharp, and be very smart.”
