At the Mayweather vs. Marquez card at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Mike Perez won a unanimous  decision over Richard Ellis to improve his record to 5-0-1 with 2 KOs.  Ellis drops to 4-3 with 2 KOs.

Super  middleweights were up next as “Neon” Dion Savage would impress the crowd walking in with a 4th round stoppage over Loren Myers to improve his record to 6-0 with 4KOs while Ellis drops to 7-7 with 2KOs.

Next up is junior welterweight Jesse Vargas of Las Vegas.  Trained by Roger Mayweather, Vargas showed good skills in keeping opponent Raul Tovar from sustaining any type of attack as he would cruise to a unanimous decision by scores of 60-52 twice and 59-53.

Hot Cuban prospect Erislandy Lara wasn’t in the ring very long as he dispatched Jose Varela in the first round.  Varela was clearly outclassed by the hard hitting southpaw as he kept eating shot after shot with little return.  Finally, a straight left ended the bout at 2 minutes 12 seconds.  Lara improves to 8-0 with 5KOs while Varela, loser of 5 fights in a row, drops to 23-7 with 16 KOs.

The final bout before the telecast features fringe contender Said Ouali out of Las Vegas by way of Morroco taking on Francisco Rios of Phoenix AZ.  First round saw the southpaw Ouali drop Rios twice, one by way of right hook, the other with a beautiful straight left.  The end would come in the second as Ouali pressed Rios dropping him two more times before referee Jay Nady stopped the bout at 1 minute and 27 seconds.  Ouali improves to 26-3 with 18 KOs while Rios drops to 17-11 with 12 KOs.
