everyone go watch the contender. High ratings means they will bring the Budwiser Sat. afternoon fights on NBC again
Hell yeah, they need to bring back those Saturday afternoon fights on network TV. They had some pretty good bouts, including Panchito Bojado coming up.
Now that Juan DIaz is out you still gonna order that espn PPV,i know theres other good fights on there, but this was the one i was looking forward to the most.
Yeah I'm still gonna order the fight. I'm looking forward to watching the Margarito - Cintron fight. Cintron is one of the top two current Puerto Rican fighters (him and Cotto) and Margarito is a tough Mexican WBO champ that has a really high punch output. He's fearless and gets busy. Hopefully Cintron won't run around and will get down and dirty to make this an exciting fight. From what I've read, Cintron took it to his last opponent who had decent punching power. I wanna see him try that against Margarito. It should be a good fight. Whoever wins this fight is gonna be propelled to superstar level and both of these fighters know it. A lot is riding on this fight.
I was looking forward to watching the Diaz title fight too but now I'm looking forward to watching my hometown prosepect from San Antonio, Raul Martinez, who's fighting instead.
That's good ESPN is getting in the mix with pay per view fights. The more competition for pay per view dollars, the better for the viewers. It means cheaper PPV fights with good matchups.
Who wins this war?
Im goin with Cintron, I want him to win, he's exciting to watch..
If they mix it up, Margarito by KO or stoppage, if Cintron gets on his bycycle, Margarito takes it UD because he was busier & landed more.

To Cintron and boxing fans, Margarito had this to say: “I hope that he is true to his word and stands in front of me and trades punches so that we can give the fans what they deserve, which is a great fight. I know that I will win this fight and hope that people watch it so that they can see a true champion at work. The Mexican, Puerto Rican rivalry is big, and I hope to continue the tradition of great fights when we meet.”

Danny-Skelton who? What kind of crap is this? Give it to guys who deserve it or have a chance...
As it is, I don't recognize most of the names on that list other than Golota, Klitschko, Toney and Rahman. And probably with the exception of Klitschko, the other three mentioned are either washed up or second-rate fighters.
Simply put, the heavy division sucks.
Niether do Mexicans, atleast both are Champions, where are your Mexican champions at Heavey?
There might not be any Mexican heavies in boxing but here's a few in other fighting arts ...

Yeah, you can't blame me for getting them mixed up, can you? I made up an alphabet belt the other day and no one noticed.
Hahaha
Anything beyond WBO and NABF is fringe territory IMO; and those are barely passable, if that, to most probably. From there the waters get murkier than they already are and I could see how it would be easy to make a belt up and not have it's integrity questioned; just too many of them out there.
Just out of curiosity, what alphabet belt did you make up?
and LOL @ this ---> "If Ruiz was fighting in my back yard I would close the curtains"
Un Mensaje
yes i agreee to your point of view, coz of that headbutt the reason why he was kuckier that night... And Pac says better luck next time... :p
On one of the undercard fights, Jorge Arce got cut bad -- he had a deep gash over his nose and he didn't hesitate to keep fighting, even losing all that blood, he told the ref not to stop the fight. And Arce went on to win by TKO btw. Pacquiao by contrast, took a relatively long time with a far lesser cut to decide he wanted to keep going. Pacquiao's cut was minor compared to Arce's. So that's just another excuse by Pac fans in a long line of excuses you use to justify Pacquiao getting beat up by Morales.
And the bottom line ...
All you Pac fans and even the "pundits" who had Morales as the underdog, were expecting Pacquaio to beat Morales and look like he did when Pac beat an out of sorts Barrera. And when that didn't happen you start making all these excuses why Pacquiao was outgunned by Morales.
Pacquiao's corner kept telling him in the middle rounds to back Morales up. But instead, he was the one getting backed up by Morales. I've never seen Pacquiao backpedal as much as he did in that fight. He usually keeps going forward, but not in this fight.
I wanna see Pacquiao rematch Morales, Marquez or Barrera, so they can bring one-dimensional Pacquiao and his fans down to reality.
A hungry Barrera would pulverize Pac. Barrera looked like he was just going through the motions against a hungrier Pac. Juan Manuel Marquez is a far superior boxer and has more heart than Pac (it showed when he got up from his initial 3 knockdowns to put on a boxing clinic in the fight). And Morales, well he would just flat out beat up Pac AGAIN, if they rematched. It's coming. I can't wait for a Pac rematch with either one of those aforementioned 3.
compared to this one... fighting w/ only one eye...
Arce's cut was worse than Pacquiao's and he didn't hesitate one bit to continue fighting like Pac hesitated. I brought this up in my first post on this thread because some Pac fans were claiming Morales got lucky Pac got cut and that's the reason Morales won his fight. The point was Arce got cut worse than Pacquiao and he still won his fight. And the point I was making to nadz in my last two replies to him was that contrary to what he was saying, Arce's gash did pose a problem to his vision (on top of it sapping his energy).
Morales had Pacquiao spitting out blood in his corner by the 3rd round, and in the 5th -- that's when they clashed heads and Manny got cut OVER his right eye.
But a lot of the damage Pacquiao took on the eye (UNDER the eye)happened because of punishment that accumulated over the rounds, unlike Arce which was a major gash from the outset that he got cut up ...

but in my opinion arces cut is better than Pac, Arce's cut not affect his vission while Pac, damn you know what i mean...
Here's a recap of the Arce-Hussein fight ...
"On the undercard, Jorge Arce scored a very controversial stoppage win over Hussein Hussein in their WBC flyweight title elimination bout that turned into a barn burner. Arce was the harder puncher, but Hussein had cut Arce bad on the bridge of his nose with a devastating shot. Not only was Arce losing a lot of blood and weakening, but the fight could have been stopped at any time from the blood going into Arce's eyes. Both fighters were going toe to toe and hurting each other throughout the entire fight, then all the sudden in round 10 Hussein gets knock down, but beats the count and is ready to fight, but his manager Jeff Fenech jumps in and stops the fight."

Who gave you the idea that it took Pacquiao a longer time to decide if he wanted to continue or not?
Review that part again, and you will notice that a Filipino boxer simply could not understand a referee speaking in SPanish.
It doesn't take a moron not to understand a language simply foreign to you. The same would happen to you if I spoke to you in Chinese.
Pacquiao looked worried when he got cut; there was trepidation in his eyes and in his actions. Compared to Arce, who didn't flinch and fought on with an even worse cut than Pacquiao, Pac took a longer time to continue the fight. He wasn't exactly eager to get back to the fight for a while. Even Merchant (who isn't a Morales fan) commented about Pac taking too long.
are you serious for this? Blood from the nose affect his vision
damn im out for this nonsense arguing

With an open wound like that, blood splatters all over including from the opponent's gloves into the eyes.
The only way Juan Marquez can recover is for him to fight Pac again :p It's either he redeem himself from that cowardly act of refusing to fight or he'll live under Pac's shadow the rest of his career.
Marquez is far from being a coward. He showed a lot of heart in his fight with Pacquiao, which I thought JMM should've won on points. It was close because of the 3 knockdowns in the first, but JMM won enough rounds collectively and accumulated enough points the way I saw it, and should have won. Marquez put on a boxing clinic and exposed Pacquiao as a one-dimensional fighter. Pac looked like a rookie for most of that bout. His head was getting snapped back viciously from the jabs and straight rights Marquez was slamming into Pac's face. They need to bring back 15 round fights; Marquez would've won it hands down if there were.

And Marquez WANTS to rematch:
“I’m as good as Morales and Barrera, and just need a good promoter to get me fights against those guys to prove that I belong with the elite boxers of the world. I also want to finish my business with Manny Pacquiao because I know that I beat him.”-Juan Manuel Marquez
"I expected a tough fight, and that's what it was, a very tough fight. But you don't win the fight in one round. He did win that round big, but I thought for the rest of the fight I dominated. They gave me a draw, but it should have been a victory. I feel good because I thought I won, but more than anything, I know the people enjoyed this fight, and I am happy to have given this performance." - JMM
Undefeated San Antonio, TX bantamweight prospect Raul Martinez has been inserted into the opening television slot for the April 23 ESPN pay-per-view fight card from Caesars Palace, it was announced today by Main Events CEO Kathy Duva. Martinez, who will challenge Downey, CA native Larry Olvera (5-3-2, 4 KO’s) in a six round bantamweight bout, was selected for the opening bout following the cancellation of the Diaz-Elder WBA world championship contest due to a cut suffered by Diaz in sparring. details]
That's cool, a hometown prospect. I wanna check him out. I read he's stopped 3 of his 7 opponents in the first. I hope ha pans out in the long run, maybe like another Robert Quiroga.
Obviously Bernard Hopkins could take out 2 strippers. Obviously he could go 12 rounds with a mountain lion. But could Bernard Hopkins win against 2 strippers and a mountain lion?
This isn't in the fantasy fights section because the fight is not fantasy. It is being discussed as we speak as a replacement for Jermain Taylor.
.
.
.
Excellent point. Strippers do have steel pipes for legs, he would have to stay out of range of those or keep the fight on the inside.
.
.
.
Hopkins may be old but he is still hungry too. Back in the ghetto and prison they didn't have no food. A mountain lion was good eating back then.
If you could get it.
LOL funny posts man. My vote was for Hopkins.
Like the saying goes, you don't have to be faster than the predator (lion), you just have to be faster than your neighbors. And Hopkins could outrun two steel pipe-legged strippers any day, especially if they're wearing high heels.
Juarez
Juarez has the biggest fight of his career ahead of him with the current WBC champ In-Jin Chi. If Juarez can win the belt -- and I think he can -- a Juarez vs Guerrero matchup would be a good one.
I think Juarez would work his way in and throw body-head combos and eventually unleash his killer left hook and hurt Guerrero. I think Juarez would take it, KO in the middle rounds after he got Guerrero's number.
Dream Fights
In no particular order, these would be some of my dream matchups I'd like to see ...
Jimmy Wilde vs Ricardo Lopez
Julio Cesar Chavez vs Sugar Ray Robinson
Mike Tyson vs Muhammad Ali
Jack Dempsey vs Rocky Marciano
Salvador Sanchez vs Willie Pep
Benny Leonard vs Joe Gans
Tony Ayala Jr. vs Marvin Hagler (or Hearns or Ray Leonard)
Not to digress from the topic of the thread, but on the general topic of dogs and represials for attacking them. First off, yeah it was a cruel thing to muzzle the dogs and allowing them to be butchered by a pitbull. But I most definitely, by no means value an animals life over a human beings. I don't believe animals have souls like humans do.
Back to my point -- where I live there's a bunch of stray dogs and dogs that aren't tied up and roam freely. A bunch of these dogs are pitbulls and other similar types of fighting breed dogs. It boggles my mind how people could be senseless enough not to tie up these dogs, and more than that it pisses me off. I can't go down the block without these vicious dogs lurking around barking menacingly and I'm not sure if I'm too close to their turf and if they'll attack. I've called the dog pound before, but there's still a bunch of these vicious dogs around.
I just wanna say, if a fucken dog came at me and attacked me, I'd kill that fucken dog and if the stupid owner got pissed about it and tried to step in the way I'd retaliate against the dumb ass owner as well. If you're an animal lover, that's fine, but if you value a dog's life over a human being, or if you keep a pitbull as a family pet because you think it's cool or it makes you look tough, or if you don't properly tie up your animal, you're a fucken moron.
