First his mandatory, and then Shumenov. That would make a lot of sense. I would love to see Cleverly-Shumenov. Erdei or Diaconu would be great, too. That's the level he should be fighting at now. Warren said that it wouldn't hurt Cleverly's career if he lost to Hopkins because he's young and can rebuild. Perhaps Warren knows that he's going to lose, so why not make the loss a big payday. But as a fan, I want a more evenly matched fight.

let's see him fight fres oquendo, ray austin, michael grant or dom guinn. Sounds good. Guinn's very durable and would give him rounds. Grant would give him height and reach, he wouldn't tower over him like his other opponents.

That is exactly right, that is exactly what Bute is. He is "the top choice by default". He gets to walk-around all of the Super-6 competitors straight into a shot at the champ. Ward is the man at 168, and he should not be "required" to do anything except fight his mandatory. Bute next would be fine, and that fight has to happen if Bute remains relevant, but it aint gonna hurt Bute to get a notable defense on his resume' in the meantime, because he aint done fuk-all to date. Indeed, Ward is the man. He's the Ring champ, and that's exactly why he should fight the Ring #1 contender, Bute. Do you really give more credence to his alphabet title mandatory, Anthony Dirrell? haha. That's funny. That's fine as a *soft touch*, but his real obligation is his Ring #1 contender. If both sides want the fight, anyway. We'll see.

so what do you guys want? A Johnson rematch or a bout with Cloud? make up your damn minds. It's a no-brainer for me. Dawson/ Johnson II and Cloud/ Woods. It's good for everybody. Dawson gets a chance to silence the doubters. Johnson gets another big fight which he very much deserves. Cloud gets his title shot, and against a weaker opponent than Dawson. He should have no problem with that! And Woods gets one more shot. Sounds good to me. The only drawback is that Dawson loses his trinket, but he can always fight the winner of Cloud-Woods if he beats Johnson, or possibly look for a fight with Diaconu or Garay (it's unlikely Erdei would ever fight him, as we all know.) It's too bad that Hopkins won't fight him or retire. If they fought, it would be for the Ring Magazine belt. Or if he retired, Dawson-Johnson II would be for the Ring belt. If Dawson had that, he wouldn't need the other belts.

People should stop nitpicking potential fights. Ward-Dawson may not be a barn burner, but it's champ vs. champ, who doesn't want that?! Ward-Dawson is great, Ward-Bute is great, Dawson-Pascal/Cloud is great, they're all great fights. And personally, I think Dawson-Campillo would be a very interesting fight! These are all good fights. Just be grateful if any of them happen!

Sergio's stamina pulled him through. Macklin was right there with him for 6-7 rounds, but when he lost a step, Sergio didn't. He was so fresh and energetic down the stretch.

you realize ouma was 1-5 heading into this fight right? vanes was shown to be very average against an over the hill, declined fighter. stop nuthugging. vanes will be crushed by martinez, or williams. I thought Zaveck won at least three rounds, but Berto hit harder and that was ultimately the difference. If Zaveck's skin held up, Berto would've been in serious trouble down the stretch.

Rubbermatch vs Williams at 154. I'd rather see him fight Lara or the winner of Kirkland-Molina.

oh really ? guess what, Pirog won the vacant WBO title after the organization stripped Martinez, so he never really beat the champ either I'm not defending Pirog. His championship "reign" was very poor, no doubt about it. But at least he beat somebody for the belt, and defended it three times. I was just telling that guy that N'Dam never really got to "championship level." Obviously Martinez is the real middleweight champ. We all know that.

Guys, there's nothing to worry about. People need to calm down about sh*t like this. Cloud is not getting ripped off. Not only is he getting a title shot, but he's getting it against a weaker opponent than Dawson! With his relative inexperience and long layoff, he should prefer this fight. He can build his name by beating a respectable opponent and picking up a belt in the process. So what's the big deal?! As for Adamek, he should have done what was best for him. If he had a bigger money fight elsewhere, he should have taken it. If not, fight his mandatory. Simple as that. The alphabet trinkets are just a means to an end. Their purpose should be to advance a fighter's career, not to be a shackle. If Adamek vacated, Dawson would have simply fought someone else for the belt. It's Dawson and his promotor's responsibility to build his reputation and his career, not Adamek. A fighter doesn't have to let other fighters build their career off of him. Of course we all want to see the best fight the best, but you can't force a fighter to fight. They're the ones taking all the risks. They risk their lives, their brains, their futures, their careers every time they step into the ring. It can be frustrating for us fans, but fighters are entitled to fight who they want when they want, whether we like it or not. Maybe it's different for guys like Mayweather and Calzaghe, who were good enough to beat everybody out there. It's not as much of a risk for them. I love Adamek, he's so entertaining, but he wasn't the best light-heavy. We all know that. He would've been better off fighting someone like Woods, and then moving up to Cruiser. It was a good decision to not fight Hopkins. There, I said it. And as for Dawson, this is clearly a good fight for him, and a good fight for all of us. Don't we all want this fight?! God, a fight fan is crazy if he doesn't want to see this fight! For those of you who don't like Dawson and just wanna rag on him, don't you want to see him fight the guy who gave him all he could handle? I, for one, thought Johnson beat Dawson (seven rounds to five, it was close.) I respect Dawson's abilities, but I wouldn't call myself a Dawson fan. So Dawson-Johnson II should be a fight we all want to see.

Thanks for the gifs, Medved. I hadn't seen those. I do think that Berto hits harder, even if the swelling was caused by a head butt, but we agree that Zaveck was out-pointing him. It's just sad that we didn't see the rest of the fight. It was very fun to watch, and it would've been interesting to see Zaveck take Berto into deep waters. The commentary was some of the worst I have ever heard. All Kellerman talked about was how entertaining Berto is. They barely talked about what actually happened during the fight! Maybe they weren't paying attention. haha.

I would also like to see more "doubleheaders." Take four of the top ten ranked fighters in the division (they have to be highly ranked,) and pair them off, winners fight each other. If you win both fights, you would move way up in the rankings, and create a higher profile for yourself. And the logistics would be so simple, since it's only two fights. This should be done a lot more often.

I'm cool with this fight. The winner against Shumenov would be great. Or maybe Grachev, that could be interesting.

um no. travis walker could take it. Adamek KO'd Walker in 5. Price hits much harder than Adamek. In fact, Walker has been KO'd six times.

for a guy that just won a historic tournament, he sure is getting a lot of hell. Bute does not deserve a shot, realistically. Ward just proved he's the best at that weight. let Bute beat at least one fighter that was in the super six (and not Glen Johnson lol). Ward beat Froch. Ward beat Kessler. Dirrell is getting ready to fight for the first time in a year and and nine months. Who else is out there? Bute is clearly the best option.

I thought that was the best way to score that final round. Neither of the two did anything conclusive to win that round. And to sway a whole round to one side for 26 seconds seems silly. Agree 100%. 10-10 was the absolute right call.

How is fighting Lebedev "high risk/ low reward?" Not enough money? He's ranked very highly in his division, and his only loss is highly controversial. A win over Lebedev would be very significant for any Cruiserweight.

Does anyone seriously believe Pavlik started camp at 195lbs "of muscle"? Yeah, I scoffed at this, too. He just doesn't have the frame for it. Recently they said that he came into the training camp with Garcia weighing 172. That was his walking around weight. So 23 pounds of muscle just vanished somehow. Don't buy it. I still think he can be a very good fighter at 168 or more likely 175 without giving up his lifestyle, but he's most effective at 160. Well, if they're telling the truth, he's walking around under the LHW limit. Meanwhile, his opponents would be coming down from 185-190 or whatever. He wouldn't want to give up that much size, especially as a guy who does much better when he's the bigger, stronger man. Pavlik is tall, but he has a slender frame. If he truly is walking around at 172, I don't see why he can't fight at 160.

Congrats to Peter, but I'm really frustrated with N'Dam, how did he ever make it to the champ level if he is so easily knocked down? He became a champ when they stripped Pirog. He never beat a champ and he never successfully defended the belt.

I'm making all the sense in the world and I would say the general public agrees that Bute hasn't done anything but watch the SS for the last few years. Everyone knows this. Where have you been? Once again, at this stage "no one" deserves a shot a Ward. They all need to fight each other to determine the next contender. In other words, you know that there's no one out there more deserving than Bute, but since you don't like him, nobody should get a shot! Just let the undisputed World Champion sit on the sidelines instead of staying active. Ridiculous.

My guess is that Booth's cut was caused by Haye swinging that tripod, rather than a bottle. Booth was right in front of Haye when he did it, and then immediately ducked and slipped away afterwords. Chisora briefly brandished a bottle at the end of the skirmish, but dropped it immediately. I think Booth was injured by his own guy.

Scoring a KD does not automatically give a fighter a 10-8 round. He has to win the rest of the round. It was a close round, but other than the KD, I felt like Vanes did better. So I scored that round 10-9 for Ouma, and scored the fight a draw. Good, close fight, regardless of the wide scores. It's a great learning experience for Vanes. We have to give him some credit. He was fighting an aggressive, granite-chinned southpaw, and he got busted up with some headbutts. Hopefully Vanes will make some improvements, and hopefully Ouma will get another good fight from this, because he's earned it. And man does Ouma have a great chin! That last left hook that Vanes landed would've dropped just about any other fighter in the division, including Martinez and Williams. Not that Vanes could beat those guys, of course, but he would've hurt them with that shot, if he could land it.

I really want Haye to win (even though he'll probably lose) if only because he's bringing excitement to the heavyweight division once more. But Steward said in that interview that they are looking for exciting fights against Haye, Povetkin, and Arreola. And Vitali's in the picture, as well. So regardless of who wins, we should expect better Heavyweight fights in the future. Now if only we could get rid of the Valuev-Chagaev-Ruiz debacle!
