Last Saturday night in Atlantic City, Andre Ward outclassed and outmuscled Nottingham's Carl Froch (28-2, 20KOs) to win the Super Six super middleweight tournament. Ward, who added Froch's WBC belt to the WBA belt he already owned, was the winner on all three judges' scorecards.
According to Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn, Froch is now looking at a two-fight blockbuster against IBF champion Lucian Bute (30-0, 24KOs) of Canada. Hearn does not believe Ward will ever face Bute.
Hearn said: “I think it is a natural fight [between But and Froch]. I am very confident we can make that fight ASAP. I don’t think Ward wants to fight Bute. I don’t believe he would fight him in a million years.
"They are going to look at that fight and we think he can beat Carl. He has owned up that he was outclassed and taken it on the chin. I think they will fancy the fight and the terms we talked about after the fight were very favorable. We agreed on everything within a couple of minutes so I don’t see why we can’t get that fight done next week.”
