can't really argue when a promoter says you gotta go where the money is. if it doesn't make dollars, it doesn't make sense. i'll give it to froch though, he knows what bad hometown decisions are like. hahhaa
katsidis is strong and tough. but i don't think he has the speed, skills, or reach to beat khan. he might make it entertaining with his determination though. and khan might not be as brave as he was w/ 5KO paulie. he would just hope to land something big. id pick khan all the way. but it would be a decent show.
The only reason for Bradley to sign with Top Rank is to get a shot at Pacquiao. If he was smart, he'd fight Khan while he still has his contract with Shaw and then go to Top Rank. GBP might try to black mail him though and say that they'll only have Khan fight him if he signs with them which would suck. He should be able to choose whichever promoter he wants to sign with.
sounds right to me. or he could finish his contract w/ shaw then go to goldenboy. with goldenboy he has a chance of landing khan and mayweather. goldenboy sounds like the better bet
Arum said that the decision is ultimately Pacquiao's. So no more of this Bob Arum this Bob Arum that. If Manny wants to fight Floyd then hold out until it gets done. And the last I checked Margarito fought Mosley free on hbo. Cotto fought Foreman free on hbo. So what is this big ppv attraction bullshit talk? Pacquiao fighting an undefeated young and hungry fighter wouldn't be an attraction? Give me a break Arum don't wanna lose his cash cow.
i agree that i would love to see pacquiao in there with bradley or any of the top 140ers. Paul Williams not so much, dude is just too damn tall for almost any welterweight, will he just rematch martinez already? but to correct you, margarito and cotto didnt fight "free" on hbo. hbo is a cable network and they offered money to show a fight and the fighters took that guaranteed money instead of running the risk of losing out on a ppv show. i think pacquiao needs to get in there with some tough, young, hungry fighters too, but that doesnt mean what arum said isn't true. i mean, look at williams last fight at the home depot center in carson, ca. the place was almost empty. and all i could think of was, none of these guys are hometown fighters, what was the promoter thinking?
But yet he fights Margarito to a decision who was KTFO by Shane and caught cheating in his fight before Pacman and Clottey who had just loss to Cotto the fight before Pacman, but somehow after both of those fights you Pac fan's say Shane isn't worthy please explain that logic? You can't no way around except to say oh Shane he old or Shane didn't look good against Sergio give me a break you are starting to sound like Mayweather fans more and more.
i won't say shane isn't worthy. but i will say it doesn't help pacquiao to fight shane after floyd wooped him and a lackluster performance against mora. let's all be real, shane has lost a step. id prefer to see pac in there w/ one of the young guns at 140.
Hatton will dominate Marquez?
Are you fcukin retarded?
Marquez would humiliate Hatton
i dont know about that one. i dont think marquez is a speed demon or even a serious puncher at 140+. He came in at 142 for the Mayweather fight so he's not used to the extra weight. but i think it would be a good fight. one that hatton could actually win. marquez can take a punch though. i think hatton could grind out a decision. but i can see marquez counterpunching to a decision or even getting a ko too. seems like a pretty interesting match to me.
ariza is nothing more than a short order cook. He is not important to any fighters susccess. Ariza is a leech a hanger on and a mooch. just an unnecessary expense. ariza is worthless.
im pretty indifferent to ariza. i would imagine there are plenty of qualified athletic trainers to hire. but if you have a contract, you have to honor it. if they weren't satisfied with the results, pay him for the work done and find someone new. it's not about liking him, it's about business ethics and integrity.
arreola isn't a one punch KO artist. he's a grinder and he needs to land combinations in order to take his opponent out. i see adamek boxing his way to a UD. yah arreola is bigger and stronger, but he takes a lot of punches too. minto was landing clean on him and lasted 5 rounds takin his punches. we can all agree adamek is better than journeyman 218lbs minto. i think arreola will definitely land shots but i dont see adamek sitting there waiting for the combinations to happen. arreola will never be in shape, EVER. yah he's pretty fast for a guy his size, but theres no way i see him beating adamek to the punch or getting off faster. theres going to be plenty of action because adamek is a warrior but i see a clean UD over arreola. if it's in ontario im there!
What kind of moronic comment is that? scrap him out? are you an idiot? I don't blame Angulo, he's always been treated as a second or third tier.
no doubt hes always been an undercard guy his career, but let's face it. he's not a headliner, at this point at least. any exposure is good for him at this point, especially after the cintron loss. even if his role in the promotional part of the show is small, he needs to make the most of it. newsflash angulo! nobody beyond hardcore fans know you are. and most were introduced to you by the cintron loss. arreola and adamek are selling the show! they actually have real fan bases. even if you dont wana take part in the presser, make up a better excuse next time.
check your pm
check youtube while it lasts. let's give isida his due, the guy is a former champ and went in there with no fear. to all you saying kirkland was 'exposed', you're all idiots. everyone knew goin in that kirkland has no defense. it didnt take ishida to 'expose' that. this was just a wreck waiting to happen, not a fighter getting 'exposed'. i'm sure kellerman feels dumb now for mentioning kirkland with martinez. at the time he said he was 2-3 fights away from martinez. now it's probably 5-6, and by that time, martinez will probably be retired. let's hope his handlers get kirkland to develop some defense before feeding him to one of the real lions at 154-160.
wow! this is the first time i've seen bute. He looked fantastic. Great boxing skllls, decent speed and some formidable power. hopefully if taylor bows out of the super six, bute can take his place. I'm always shocked to see someone get knocked out by a body punch, the first thing I thought of when Andrade went down was the DLH-Hopkins fight. Andrade seems incredibly limited. Slow, but tough. He did land some solid shots here and there. Great job by Bute, can't wait to see him again.
I've heard enough of this about Pacquiao. Bottom line: Hatton was coming off of what a lot of people at the time called his best performance since Tszyu after stopping Malignaggi. Clottey beat up on Judah and then barely lost a razor thin decision to Cotto.
agreed. its not pacquiaos fault that his opponents couldnt give a competitive fight. but look at margarito, cotto, and clottey. those are 3 full blown welters that mayweather didnt come anywhere near when they were in their respective primes.
Dawson needs to learn to talk smack, he has to be the most boring interview of all time.
Either that or his management better think of a way to promote him, his last last few fights had a lot of empty seats.
I've seen local fighters outsell him.
Agreed. The kid is talented no doubt, but he can't even sell out his hometown arenas. Of course he says he'd fight in the opponent's hometown, no one would show up otherwise lol. I don't like that he's trying to call Calzaghe out of retirement, but at least he put Ward, Cloud, and Bute out there. Ward is tied up until the end of the Super 6, but a fight with Bute sounds pretty interesting.
its unfortunate, but in the sports world, once you're under suspicion it's up to you prove your innocence when it comes to steroids. yes he has never failed a test, but it's not enough to say your clean in the eyes of the media and some fans. and if the commission refuses to pay for such extensive testing, take it out of the fighters purses, or take it out of mayweather's purse for demanding it. i'm a huge pacquiao fan, but if he doesnt understand this political move by mayweather makes him look bad, then he's not smart enough to go into politics. just take the tests. its supposed to be random, so it can be urine or blood testing at any point in time. they wont be testing you everyday or to the point where they drain you. and the point of this whole thing is mayweather is willing to do the same thing. michael phelps was tested after every race, granted we dont know what method urine or blood, but he performed fine. here's the compromise: mayweather pays for the testing out his own purse, pacquiao take the damn tests!
i hope its not mosley, there would be no point to that fight. mayweather already beat him badly. i dont see a point in fighting marquez again. now a fight with one of the top 140 guys would be a great fight. someone brought up an interesting point though, that maybe floyd is just letting pacquiao take these fights and let the wear and tear of fighting these guys slow him down so he can beat him. it actually makes sense when you think of it. id also like to see berto get beat hahah
I have no problem with Valero calling out Pacman. It's the thing to do. It helps get your name out there. Nothing wrong with that. While I would love to see a Pacman-Valero fight at 135 or 140. I don't see it happening for a while. Pacman is only interested in fighting the big names to make the most money right now. Again, nothing wrong with that. Give Valero a few more fights to build up his exposure and clean out the division. To say he is ducking him, no way. There's just not enough money in it right now and not enough fan interest outside of hardcore boxing fans. For him to be ducking Valero he would have to refuse to fight the guy when fans want to see it and theres plenty of money to be made, ala PBF ducking Margarito after being offered 8mil!
lol that moron said Marquez is not a warrior. BAWAHAHA i also stop reading after that too . one thing is to hate on JMM and another is to say he is not a warrior. JMM will never quit like other boxers he will go out by knock out
First of all I never said Marquez wasn't a warrior. I'm a big fan of his. I loved his fight exposing Diaz as nothing more than an above average pressure fighter. I'm just saying, don't criticize Pacman for fighting at catchweights when Marquez does the same thing. I guess since you didn't read the rest of the post, you didn't see the rest of my logic. I know my stuff.
Lol Kessler doesnt fight good backwards either.
In their next fight I see Kessler winning a UD over Green and Froch getting KTFO by Abraham
thats exactly what i was thinking! why didnt froch put his foot on the gas pedal and bring some damn pressure. i dont even like froch but i thought he was winning when kessler was stepping back. someone tell froch hes not fast enough to a be an effective boxer-counterpuncher. he needed to hold his ground more, move forward, and let his hands go. he was no doubt the stronger of the two. i see froch goin down against abraham too.
no way haymon lets this happen. i think mimicing mayweather's style doesn't seem like so hard a task, you just have to stick that left sholder out all day and keep the right tucked under your chin, but you can't mimic his speed. there doesn't seem to be a big fuss about mayweather's sparring partners. doesn't seem like he uses the big names.
can't wait for this fight! mosley is one of my favorite boxers of all time. he always makes for an exciting fight. he'll do his best to push the action but i see floyd stinkin his way to a UD in this fight. i can only hope mosley catches floyd somehow and gets a KO. floyd will just stick that sholder out all night and slip punches while throwing an occasional straight right. i can also see alot of manhuggin goin on in this fight. floyd does it, and mosley did it alot in the margarito fight. its effective but damn does it slow the fight down.
mosley is right though, mayweather wouldn't fight the guys that beat him, hell mayweather wouldn't fight most of the guys that mosley beat.
Paul needs to shut up, he got whooped by Martinez and now he talks like he is the best in the world, he belongs in the middleweight division. Fight men your own size
i agree he lost to martinez. but if the man can make welterweight. why not? yah he lost to quintana, but he whooped quintana after. yah he's a big dude, but you know what tommy hearns was 6'1. the late vernon forrest was 6'1. tall welterweights are nothing new. i think what we all want is the best to fight the best. and that doesn't mean fighting blown up lightweights.
90 days? seems a bit of a rush. then again its not like khan took alot of damage against salita haha. businesswise it makes sense for khan to vacate, why risk his first big payday against marquez, hatton, or whoever and fight a dangerous fighter like maidana? and its not like anyone puts much stock in those titles. but you would think a decisive victory would build his name up even more and increase the payday against the bigger names. i for one hopes he takes the fight. but he prob wont
jermain taylor is a grown man and he has the right to make his own decisions. while the past 3 knockouts were quite brutal, you can't say that taylor is a pushover. he more than held his own against pavlik, froch, and abraham. does he belong in the tournament with these super middleweights? that's questionable. but does he have the ability to compete? absolutely. i don't want taylor to suffer any permanent damage either. imo, taylor should hang em up. but it's his decision. i wish him the best of luck.
i think pacquiao would win personally. but i would love to see that fight. i can't blame him for calling out pacquiao but let's be real, bradley aint gettin that fight. that indian casino ballroom wasnt even full, in his own hometown! at least he mentioned the other 140ers after. and im glad he said 'tear down this wall'. top rank and golden boy are a bunch of greedy pigs with their in-house leagues as kellerman called them. let the best fight the best! that's how stars are made, thats how you make money. don't pitch to me 'winner of diaz/marquez gets khan next'. and shame on hbo for actually going with it. for the network with the biggest budget, you would think they had more clout in demanding better fights. if showtime could do the super 6, why not a 140 tournament with bradley, alexander, maidana, and khan?
i dont particularly like angulo, but the guy puts on good fights. id like to see get coldclocked by martinez. but if not, damn, put him in there w/ kirkland, cintron rematch, cotto, margarito, chavez jr., canelo. damn any one of those fights would be awesome.
I'm sick of all these hometown fights.
Aren't these guys supposed to be international fighters? Fight somewhere neutral. It's not that difficult.
fighting in neutral territory sounds like a good idea from a competitive standpoint, but not from a business standpoint. these guys have fan bases and built-in audiences. asking those people to go to a different country means less money at the gate. fighting in someones hometown guarantees a certain level of return. its a tough call but you gotta go where the money is.
do i have to be the first one? i'll just come out and say it, ward is a dirty fighter. call it crafty, call it tricky, whatever, i can't stand how he fights. the guy is just dirty i hope he gets ko'd soon
Pavlik's a one-hit-wonder who had his soul taken by Bhop. Stick a fork in him, he's done.
Anyone in the Super Six beats him.
i agree. it looks like he's the mayorga of the middleweight division. he'll live off the one big name on his resume for the rest of his career. and when other fighters just want to stay busy and need a decent name to sell a fight they'll say 'let's just throw pavlik in there". sad but it's starting to look that way. put him in there with sluggers like abraham, andrade, and miranda. he might win, he might lose, but they'll make for entertaining fights. bute, ward, and froch would take him apart. kessler seems faded enough to make it a good fight though.
Froch can't complain, he got a home descision in his last fight so it was Kessler's turn to get a home descision. Every fighter that has fought away from home in the super six has lost. Froch to Kessler, Kessler to Ward, Dirrell to Froch, Abraham to Dirrell, Taylor to Abraham which makes me think why does Ward get to have all his fights at home. All the fights should be held somewhere neutral like MSG & I know that would mean tickets could be hard to sell but it would make it fair for everyone & stop any complaints.
that is interesting. don't forget that dirrell-abraham was supposed to be held in california until dirrell's back injury set it back. why it wasnt just kept in california i have no idea. it definitely would have sold more than that empty michigan arena.
