So, the boxer is better than the bodybuilder at boxing. Interesting
yeah, but if it was an actual fight body builder wins. boxers can't fight, but they sure can box
its too bad they're too ***** to enter the OCTAGON... except for floyd since he is man enough for the octagon and owns ireland
why do boxers fight a bunch of cans and have ridiculous records?
What is the point of that? wouldn't the sport draw more interest if it wasn't filled with can 95% can crushing?
This is why boxing fans for most part can't take MMA seriously. Just look at that GIF :pat:
A niche sport designed for white athletes who wasn't good enough to cut it in their chosen profession. One anybody of all skill types can pick up any age. You get a few wins and you're already labelled ''the baddest man on the planet'', ''a legend'', an atg etc
Its just a joke.
What about Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier, Anthony Johnson, Rampage Jackson, Rashad Evans, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva?
They are all black and are world class mma fighters and top in the organization at one point or another?
Isn't the best boxer currently a ginger haired white guy who happens to be from mexico?
Because its a sport.
If you made the gloves smaller then fighters would have broken hands and wrists all the time, jaws, eye sockets and fights wouldn't last 2 minutes. Most would be over inside a minute. Who is going to pay PPV to watch that?
8-10oz is fine when you consider how its distributed and a lot of the glove weight is in the hem or wrist of the glove.
Have you ever been hit by a boxing glove or even felt a boxing glove? There isn't actually a great deal of padding in the face of the glove at all as it is.
Even these feather-fisted punchers, you still feel their shots, believe me.
maybe then they wouldn't need to pad their records and have so many tune up fights... and they can actually only fight the elite fighters?
They can still train with headgear and bigger gloves for sparring.... but being knocked out with one combo or perfect strike to the chin vs being pounded in the head for 12 rounds seems healthier in the long run
Hardly any of those fight in the UFC anymore and that would be like 1% of their roster and none of those get star treatment.
Why do they push Brock Lesnar, Ronda, Conor, etc so much? They've never pushed a single black fighter. I am white btw just saying how I see it.
Like I said its a sport created predominantly for failed white athletes. Created by white skinheads, 99.99% of the fans are white, the entire commentary team are white. Its a racially driven ''sport'' for white folk who was not good enough at their chosen discipline. A sport where practically anybody of any age or discipline can do.
People laughed when Bob Arum said it but they laughed because it is true.
wow so you're what boxing fans are like..... salty as ****
Jones is done no denying... legacy is ****ed....however, all of boxing would be ****ed if you implemented random USADA testing year round paid by a third party
these dudes aren't even athletes..... boxers are just marathon runners on PEDs now days
atleast UFC has strict testing to bust the cheaters...... aka all of boxing.. anthony joshua 1 year in USADA would look like overeem
Lmao......
what a salty bunch of people you are....
you guys are calling out an MMA fighter because your number one guy is retired# and the most popular fighter in the world is a mixed martial artist
people will pay to see real fights... not this **** show you called boxing.. the only reason people bought this gay ass boxing fight is because of mcgregor and he won rounds 1,2,3,4,8 as a 0-0 boxer
Most definitely.
There is definitely some truth to the width of the glove offering more protection on defense, but when it comes to the amount of actual padding in front of the fist there isn't really much there.
If you get punched in the face by someone wearing an 8oz glove and knows what they're doing, you'll quickly realize it hurts like hell.
im talking mostly defense about the size of the glove. I don't see why hiding behind such big gloves should be applauded. philly shell or whatever the **** that **** is called. You should be able to slip a shot in there
I don't think the answer is smaller gloves.
Have you seen Dmitry Kudryashov? Could you imagine a guy like that with smaller gloves? Fighters would be left needing facial reconstruction surgery. I'd rather get hit by a lorry than that guy with a minimal padded glove.
Even a little guy like Rigo has shattered jaws, orbital bones etc
Fights won't go on long at all and it may even actually equate to more running and a lot less action.
It would be ****ing exciting though....

Have you ever heard of Kevin Lee? He fights at LW and got a title shot recently and has been getting a big push by the UFC. He is black by the way and only 25 years old. You might like him
It maybe evolving but not at the rate I'd like to see personally.
Most of them haven't even discovered what a feint is let alone a jab and its been around for how long? 20 years?
The sport will not truly evolve until you start taking genuine world class 'strikers' as they call it or a boxer and teach them how to sprawl and teach them a sufficient groundgame and so on.
Lets face it you can learn that in no time at all. You ain't teaching a 30yr old wrestler much in the stand up department apart from how to wing an overhand right and leave themselves wide open now just for every punch but every kind of strike imaginable.
They have improved from when it first started for sure but its still at the caveman stage.
That's what I'm asking for. I'd like to see boxing evolve the way we can see some exciting and technical stand up fights without some of the BS boxing currently has in their sport
Shiddd, with lighter gloves Paulie might look like GGG lol lol I kid I kid, but I love the troll thread bro. You a MMA guy right? Still left over from the Conor fight? Thought you guys had left lol.
nah... i'm lurking and trying to look past a few things that really annoy me... i still lurk, i tend to troll, but i can't help it
yes mma guy, but i like stand up fighting... prefer pure boxing over kick boxing

you wouldn't pay to see this with no kicks or takedowns?
Look at his posture all hunched over, ploughing in squared up, head first. Look at his feet and look at what I presume was an attempt of an overhand right?
If that was the Street and you seen that you'd laugh and say the guy had never had a fight in his damn life and that is honestly what it looks like and nobody would argue it.
He looks like a literal caveman. You ever see a mong or special needs kid lose his **** in school? That is exactly how it looks.
when he got knocked out in that GIF he was like a 46 year old man... dan henderson is a legend
I know of him and know he trains at the Mayweather gym, not seen him fight though.
Are they building him up to be a superstar? Or are they just building his profile to feed him to Conor, Khabib or somebody?
If he wins the title he could be big. He could take mcgregor down and beat him to a pulp if he wanted
GTFOH casual b1tch
how do you become hardcore when there are so many flaws with it? i really want to like boxing... but it seems like they need to implement some changes to make it somewhat realistic or interesting
If I wanted to see that I'd stand outside of my local chip shop on a friday night. That is all I honestly see two roided up drunks there is no skill or technique in any of that. What even is it? Its embarrassing. My little sister has a better fighting I.Q and never had a fight in her life.
Its just trash.
I'm a fan of strategy, smarts, skill, adjustments, adapting, finesse there is only so much of watching two neanderthals just swinging for the sheer sake of it I can take.

"Safety"
Started out bare knuckle, then gradually moved on to the pillows we see today.
It does help prevent more acute injuries, but there is some conflicting information about whether or not it is actually better for brain trauma.
I actually think it is an interesting topic because the size of gloves, at a certain point, drastically affects the way a fight plays out and the styles that develop around it. It could even have an impact on the success of certain fighters theoretically.
thank you for the informative post even though i sounded like i was trolling....
i really want to like boxing and I think it would be way more interesting with smaller gloves....
where do we see people in real life walking around with these giant gloves?
Giant Gloves... Giant Shorts... its just strange
This is why boxing fans for most part can't take MMA seriously. Just look at that GIF :pat:

that gif is of Anderson Silva sonning a TUF 1 winner.. forrest griffin is from like 10-15 years ago and fighters today have evolved and are much better strikers today
:lol1::lol1:
I actually agree with you about the glove size. I'm laughing about the comment about the shorts. I like the old style trunks and gloves.
Do you think boxing will ever make changes? how does it go about doing that?
is there anything we as fans can do....?
Thanks
The stamina problems are real
that is the name of the game for boxing....too big of gloves prolong the fight and its really just a battle of who can out cardio who
we never find out who the best fighter is and y'all are constantly *****ing about score cards because SIZE of gloves and retarded rules
Just re-watched the fight, in 12 rounds, GGG landed 3 flush punches. His work was messy and inaccurate
Canelo landed clean uppercuts, bodyshots, right hands, hooks, combos
Why couldn't GGG land clean, Canelo was on the ropes, there for the taking, he even stood in the pocket,
You GGG fan boys need to STFU and stop crying, if i were a judge i would be awarding the guy doing the clean work, not the guy walking forwards like a human punchbag and only throwing a ****ty jab
Canelo landed the more QUALITY punches in each round
he was wearing big pillow gloves and his opponent was as well...
when you combine the two its hard to find the chin
in a real fight you don't wear big ass pillow gloves so we will never truly know who the better fighter was... i have a feeling it was Canelo though
Dude why are you still here? I thought after Mcgregor lost you would've off'd yourself.
lol I'm being serious... who gives a **** if you can throw hands with great out put for 12 3 min rounds?
why not reduce the glove size to UFC gloves and see who the better fighter is?
then all of you boxing **** would not be *****ing about score cards all the time
