1. A McGregor win does not = MMA > boxing. Why not? Well McGregor is light years beyond the typical boxing standard seen in MMA. You've got heavyweights in 4oz gloves in those cages and even they can't come close to his 90% KO rate.
2. McGregor began his fighting career in boxing and is a student of the game (his coach says McGregor has for as long as they've been a team showed him video of boxers / fights / techniques) - He is NOT a wrestler or jiu jitsu expert that did some pad work.
MMA fans won't get to gloat should McGregor win, as huge portions of them resent how McGregor's success has been built on his boxing foundation and seeing his boxing handle the wrasslin from the likes of Chad Mendes and Eddie Alvarez.
McGregor is the closest thing we have to a boxer in MMA and his rise to the top is bothersome to many an MMA "purist"
3. McGregor's no nonsense "make it happen" stance with regard to matchmaking will see the best want to fight the best and challenge themselves. In the UFC Jon Jones is now finally prepared to challenge himself at heavyweight, calling out Brock Lesnar. Jones says this move out of his comfort zone was "McGregor inspired"
Anyone looking for the spotlight in the same sport as McGregor knows they must make big fights. We've already seen lomachenko rigondeaux hype picking up steam since McGregor mentioned them. He will be a catalyst for change, a welcome detour from the current and jaded record-padding, must-stay-undefeaded mindset.
So everyone needs to relax and understand that this isn't MMA > boxing and should McGregor do the impossible it will not only be not a disaster for boxing, but it might be just what boxing needs.
I cant honestly say that Conor winning vs Floyd will be the worst thing to happen to Boxing since promoters choosing when they allow their fighters to face guys based on money and opportunity vs the be best fights the fans want to see.
To hear Conor talk about boxing as if it isn't a respectable form of fighting, even though he wins his fights by boxing, is just a corny thing to hear. He is using many different aspects of the fight game to get himself in a position to win. Not just in life, but financially. He knows many components are on the line as to why people want to see it.
He doesn't take the craft seriously. There is a reason for that, for as talented as he is in MMA, his boxing is amateurish at its absolute best. He looks terrible on a speedbag. His striking looks slow and telegraphed. His sparring is awful against lower level nobodies. He is literally, trying to cheat his way into contention and all for what? Not to challenge Floyd to be the best, but to get his money up because he knows that fighting rough customers like Diaz.....while potentially having to face a guy like Khabib, Woodley or even Masvidal is potentially devastating to his health. Guys who he is bigger than have almost no shot in MMA, but when he faced a guy his size, he uses too much too early and fights with a bad pace.
In the end, why let an outsider disrespect the fight game? For what?
Fair enough like I said, cuz I don't expect someone who doesn't understand what the word experience means to understand.
And yea yea I know boxing isn't really boxing unless its boxing under these certain boxing conditions. I get it man. You need to buy a dictionary or better use your online options to look up meanings to words.
Jesus Christ mate :lol1:
Get a grip.
Don't spin that on me. Thats your goofy definition of "experience" not mine. Fair play doe.
Spin what?
Like I have said three times now you have your stance I have mine. I don't expect someone with your stance to understand. That's cool.
Ask anyone who has fought if sparring equates to Boxing experience and you might be suprised by their answer.
Fair play. Just make sure to not waste your time doing much sparring in the future since that experience isn't worth anything. Good luck bro.
It's funny that you would think that just because sparring doesn't equate to Boxing experience that would somehow mean sparring is a pointless task.
Spoken like a guy who truley has no experience in Boxing :lol1:
Like I said, you have made your stance very clear. And by doing that I do not expect you to understand this stuff.
a McGregor win IS bad for boxing but In this case it really doesn't matter because Mayweather is equally bad for boxing.....
Lose/Lose we all lose with this sham
Still sounds retarded to actually read that "boxing" doesn't equal "boxing". Yea okay whatever.
I don't expect you to understand mate.
You have made your stance very clear.
To say Floyd losing to McGregor won't be that shocking is insane. And for panda to say that Floyd losing to MC would be good for boxing is pure insanity. Its the worse thing that could happen to boxing because every media source and the UFC would force it down boxing's throat as long as the sport exists.
STOP with the trolling! 3 people on here have ethered your a$$!!! You IDIOT - Floyd doesnt have to be the same guy he used to to beat MC!!!! That is WHY THIS IS CALLED A CIRCUS ACT, DUH!! This is a guy with ZERO Pro or AM fights going against an ATG who is 49-0!!!! I dont give a SHT what you think will show up in the ring, this is about FACTS!!!! Get out of here you fuking troll! 3 people called you on your crap! I'm not wasting any more time with someone who flaunts their trolling and stupidity like it is a badge of honor. You a$$ was cooked by 3 of us and now I am ignoring your obvious trolling or bad drug trip!
To say Floyd losing to McGregor won't be that shocking is insane.
I have just agreed to disagree with you man :lol1:
Just shut the f*ck up and don't reply I can't be bothered to argue with you about this you think sparring accounts to Boxing experience I don't simple as that.Panda is as clueless as a dead horse. I'm going to enjoy not ever reading another pea-brained comment from him.....I blocked that pinhead.
You are so f#cking stupid I'm amazed at how stupid you can be. Its like your super power. Full Retard Man.
What I'm trying to illustrate to your dense ass is that 40 year olds who've been out of the ring for 2 years, even if they are the betting favorite, don't always show up being the same guy they used to be.
Hell Manny looked pretty nice vs Bradley that last time I thought & recently he looked like garbage (despite still deserving the decision in my book) vs a worse fighter, Horn, & I believe all that happened inside of a 2 year window.
If Floyd don't show up to the fight he could very well lose. Nothing at all shocking about that..,again even if Floyd is the betting favorite. This ain't as complicated a concept as you are making it out to be.STOP with the trolling! You a$$ was cooked by 3 of us and now I am ignoring your obvious trolling or bad drug trip!
And I was saying there's levels to experience so again I got no clue wtf you are going on about experience counting if it's under this umbrella, but not counting as experience if it's a similar but different level of experience under this other umbrella.
If you're a licensed plumber or are just an apprentice you got experience with the toliet bowl, but obviously your not a licensed plumber at the same time.
Kinda lost as to wtf you are even disagreeing with unless you just feel like a bigger man than me cuz you got amateur or pro experience or some weird ego issue like that.
I have just agreed to disagree with you man :lol1:
Just shut the f*ck up and don't reply I can't be bothered to argue with you about this.
You think sparring accounts to Boxing experience I don't simple as that.
I have said this many times before? Win or lose, this is not going to be Conor Mcgregor's last boxing match! There is nothing left for him in the UFC, I believe he will face the winner of Golovkin vs Alavez.
Agree to disagree.
Experience is experience to me not just amateur or pro fights. I mean thats how experience works its doing the thing its not doing the thing via just this small window of approved ways to do the thing.
That's fair enough.
I'm just saying you can spar all you want it's nothing like actually fighting.
There's a reason some fighters are called "gym fighters", because they perform great in the gym and can't translate it to the actual fights. And these are people who have actually had fights too let alone someone who hasn't even had one.
Illegitimize?!?!?! Are you sh^tting me? You guys just can't see anything that doesn't entail a half empty glass lmfao.
I'm saying Floyd is gone win or lose. His "rep" isn't going to do anything for boxing anymore. A new guy knocking him off, MMA guy or nah, is simply a passing of the torch. Conor coming to boxing full time, & he would cuz its too much f#cking money not to & he's not a dummy & getting knocked off by Thurman, Spence, Pacquaio or Horn is only a overall + for boxing. And if Conor somehow gets by active top guys than he's the legit mfing man & boxing fans will say holy f#ck this guy I thought couldn't fight can apparently f#cking fight & they'll be dick riding him like they dick ride non-MMA boxers when they beat top guys.
Its the circle of life bro lol. Guys come in the sport, they lose, new guys take over, then that guy loses & then some other new guy takes over. Floyd kinda ripped off boxing fans by not losing during his prime. Losing post-prime would be the next best thing he could do for the sport in many ways. Kinda like if he'd had lost to Manny it'd have been better for the sport to cuz thats what people wanna see. The only difference now is boxing fans wanted Manny to beat Floyd, now its sports fans, MMA fans & casual fans who wanna see Conor beat Floyd.
Don't worry doe its highly unlikely to happen, but unlike many cats here I'm just not under the delusion its impossible that Floyd could lose,
Though i get what you're trying to get acrossed, it's really just not the same. Floyd's rep in boxing is still too big, and 2 years ain't a very long time. He can fight GGG-canelo winner and it'd still be the biggest fight that could be made, he can fight spence and still get more than a mil. Those fights would still be intriguing, and those are even against top boxers, not a 0-0 fighter. The buzz for this fight is big and 90% of it are from casuals. And for them its mma vs boxing.
I really dont know if this guy is trolling or what. He claims to be a fan yet he's okay if the sport's reputation will tarnish.
He said earlier its okay if mc wins so that *we can have fresh eyes to the sport then he's now saying "who cares about what the masses say" lmao!!!
Goodluck arguing with that dude 🤣It must be either trolling or crack abuse cause he is all fuked up.
So you're willing to illegitimize the sport for bunch of new eyes?? You'll hear stuffs like "oh conor would have beaten everyone in floyd's resume too" you like that??
"Conor maybe would've beaten leonard, duran, hagler and hearns too". Stuffs like that.
If you're concern about the future of the sport then you should be concern about its reputation. If conor wins, it'll be interpreted as mma wins.
And it'll be damn too funny that it is in boxing rules.I've asked the panda bear to put the crack pipe down. No doubt if a guy with zero pro or am boxing bouts beats an unbeaten ATG with 49 fights, the boxing world will be slammed hard.
