I mean it is pretty damn obvious he is going to sign with DAZN. I just don't know the hold up here. Maybe he's waiting to get a fight signed and they can announce both at the same time? With a Canelo trilogy or Jacobs rematch on deck, his next opponent isn't going to be that great anyways. Just announce already…….
Do you know when he is supposed to fight again? Or what is expected at least?
I have read multiple different writers saying the plan is to have him fight in May and then in September vs Canelo... I wonder if that is still the plan.
He is taking awhile to announce next signing / fight. It's been 5 months since the fight, going to be the longest layoff of his career.
Doubt he retires though. He's fought long to establish himself as a star. He's finally there, and is being pitched very lucrative deals. He'll take one of them.
Agreed. No way he is going to pass up the cash that is being offered to him.
I scored it the following:

1-10--9
2-10--9
3-10--9
4-10--9
5--9--10
6--9--10

8--10--9
9--10--9
10--9--10
11--9--10
12--9--10
---114-114 Draw
Very very similar to how I scored it.
I scored the fight 114-114 a draw. I was very very surprised to see people later calling it a robbery. I thought Benavidez clearly landed the better shots. I also thought Herrera was much busier and active. I think a lot of the stuff Herrera was doing was ineffective though. If I had to call a winner though I would have leaned toward Jose Benavidez. Just because I favor quality of punches landed more than body shots hitting the elbows and the power behind the punches. Really tough fight to score though very subjective.
vasyl lomachenko because im a biased fan.
jk
danny garcia for defeating a hungry young lion helluva fighter in rod salka
jk
but andy lee and herrera should be up there hahahahahahaha
Good call on Andy Lee.
Dont worry Vasyl Lomachenko will be up here next year after he whoops Nicholas Walters.
He had a chance to school Herrera and failed. Struggled actually. And lost on my card.
I dont disagree with that. I think in no way should this fight be called a "robbery" though. I think the scorecards were awful but imo this fight was a 6-6 or 7-5 fight either way. I had Benavidez winning because of his rally in the 11th and 12th rounds. I was very impressed with Benavidez for being 22 and fighting the way he did facing the huge step up in competition. He has a lot to work on though when he pulls straight back he is wide open for a straight right hand and a bigger puncher may cause him some serious problems. I personally think if they rematch Benavidez wins a clear decision but that is just my opinion.
Great fight. Still not buying Floyd's PPV unless it's Pacquiao. I can see Haymon putting this on the undercard.
I think so. Great platform for a fan friendly fight featuring new faces.
Why do boxers make so much more money than mma fighters?
Why are boxing gates so much higher than mma gates?
http://boxing.nv.gov/results/Top_Boxing_Gates/
http://boxing.nv.gov/results/Top_MMA_Gates/
Why does boxing have the top 6 PPV events of all-time?
Why is boxing an Olympic sport and mma is not?
Why are there more professional/amateur boxers globally than mma fighters?
How many households regularly view it.
I don't know the numbers and I have no horse in the race but that's what "bigger" means.
On a global scale that is easily boxing...
I figure boxing is bigger globally and MMA is bigger in the states.
I think that is a fair assessment. Although I would say that boxing holds a more important part in hispanic culture in the States. I think boxing is positioned very well for the demographic change that is occurring in the United States.
Ask the average person on the street who Canelo is and they will not have a clue. As for earnings... Rousey has already been in multiple movies, has FOUR films in development for her as the main star of the movie, has had a book on the NY Times bestseller list at NUMBER ONE - which I doubt Floyd has read, and is currently the highest paid fighter in UFC. She will likely retire in her early 30s and go on to a very successful film career with similar success to The Rock.
How many boxers have transcended their sport to move on to movie or other careers? And do not mention Tyson as his entire career today is based on his career as a boxer. The only one I can think of is George Foreman and his no fat grilling machine.
I think Ronda is doing just fine without bringing up any boxer's name. Now if only the media could get that through their thick skull.
Boxing is not competition for the UFC, their real competition is WWE. Same kind of hype, similar style of fan. Both UFC/MMA and pro rasslin' have huge crossover appeal and have stars who are known beyond their respective sports. Both have stars who have moved on to film careers with various levels of success.
Boxing had Floyd and seriously need a replacement. They need a well spoken individual who is fan friendly for a change. Someone who is interested in promoting the sport as a whole. There simply does not seem to be anyone around who fits that mold today.
Not in California or Texas my friend.
Because boxers are individual business entities rather than company employees
Because there are like 20 MMA events across the country every weekend
Because MMA is way too new to be an Olympic sport
Because "amateur MMA" barely exists
Dumb questions man
So what qualifications should be used to determine if mma is "officially bigger" than Boxing?
The reality of the situation is boxing superstars have been considered the top of the food chain in terms of athlete stardom. Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Tyson, De la hoya, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mayweather... The list goes on and on. Top money attracts top talent. I am not saying mma can not surpass boxing. But with the data available there is NOTHING that suggests it is a "bigger" sport.
Wow. Two states. Go to Brazil and ask the same question. Go to Australia and ask the same question.
The world does not begin and end with the United States no matter how much Yanks seem to believe it does.
No it does not. That is why boxing is a bigger sport globally than mma...
