and one more thing. i wud like to ask one question. does any1 here know how they measure professional boxers necks? is it while leaning ur head back or just standing straight normally. becoz it increases ur neck size by an inche or so?
thought i would just bump this up instead of re-post the thread.. is this true? do you measure it normal or flexed? if thats true my neck is about 19.5" flexed but I feel like it's your regular size they record
wow that was the most disgracefuly funny thing i think i've ever seen.. when ali was on the turnbuckle bicycle kicking him:lol1:, the guy wasnt even trying to kick him he was just falling on the ground.. wow good find
idk i asked this same question, im like almost 6' 205 and i was trying to ask if i could knock out a pro bantam or a flyweight witha lucky punch, just to provoke thoughts. i still say i couldnt do it, and i got flamed kinda.( idk wat ur saying about 5'5 200lbs, i bet the people on here if their not in shape are skinny not like that but idk)
but yea dude if he gets inside you your done. ur gonna be all tied up and foolish trying to hit him as he just works the shit out of ur body with hooks then when u keel over u get 1 rite in the face
ur reach doesnt mean shit its ur timining. ur prob be scared and nervous of being beat up by a guy half ur size. hes gonna keep fainting at u
then hell jump in when u fuck up or rite after u jab and go to work
They believe because you can use hand, feet, elbows , and whatever, plus the small gloves, that it is some how tougher.
you actually get hurt more with the big gloves
they only wear those little tiny 6 ounce gloves or whatever in MMA to protect hands.
if u get rocked with those little gloves u go down but then its over, its not the same as getting punched in the face for 30 minutes with padded gloves.it rattles your brain way more does way more brain damage you just cant tell cause you dont bruise up as much its all internal.
they just think boxings not as entertaining because its more like chess then checkers... but i disagree nothing is worse than watching two dudes just lay on the ground trying to get a better hold.
alot of the guys in the ufc say they like wrestling cause then their face doesnt get all fucked up, thats y they take it to the ground instead of trade shots
I see boxing as a man's sport, and MMA as an animal's sport (not that some animals don't exist in boxing)....to me boxing is tougher, even if the MMA is more violent.
well put well put... i think thats the discrepancy the mma guys dont see what gets tougher than knees to the face, but really nothing gets more violent
lol it aint that funny if you can wear boots i dont see y basketball shoes would be so weird. sounds weird saying it tho and i had a feeling they werent just reg shoes
you ever wear jordans? you could def box in them
cool, do you mean lose weight down to 175? sorry if i misunderstood you, im just trying to figure out if an amateur of my status would get his ass beat by someone professional a few weight classes lower. i was fighting at 155 for a while, then i gained all this weight all of a sudden this summer. I only have about 20% fat so its not excess, and i do much better with this weight cause i like to work the clinch, but who know maybe i should try 190
Ill take boxing as far as it can go, im still young, i like it as a hobby but id go pro if i get good enough, but do you think id do much better as a middleweight? I guess i can see its better to be the big guy in middleweight class then just make the cut at 200 pounds or so for heavyweight. who knows now i mean im the same size as joe frazier in his prime and he did fine as a smaller heavweight, although the games different now so theres no telling. and then again, im not joe frazier
You'd get knocked the fuck out....how u gonna insult a pro... take ya azz to the store and buy me an iced tea....
first of all, i have mad respect for any professional athlete, especially boxers, and i didnt come off like im some tough guy who thinks they could actually do this, the part about going after roy was a joke, and anyways i was confident i would lose to any pro, if you actually read my post instead of stop at dude vs pro u would see that. idk man its a pretty valid question... if i landed a few lucky shots i could do some damage, i mean its very very highly unlikely-but i mean im talking about outweighing a guy by like 70 pounds and a 6 inch reach advangtage... the ice tea part is just over the top(to add to it, it doesnt really make any sense either, just seemed like a weak attempt to belittle me). its not like im asking if i could roll with james toney.. like im saying ive never fought a professional thats why im ASKING
amateur heavyweight vs pro lightweight isnt that rediculous or insulting.. who do you think pros spar with? most likely not all of them have a professional career in boxing, . sorry bro
ps
u must have let all the ***s over the internet(not here u no who i mean) u no, the internet warriors who talk all that shit get to your head and make you believe that everyone on line is some fat deush bag who could never have a shot at doing anything great..uve never met me how u gonna tell me what i can and cant do
You'd need to be 147 pounds to make welterweight in pro boxing. If you got down to 175 pounds, you'd be light-heavyweight.
Or, you could fine-tune your skill sand be decent in the weak ass heavyweight division.
yea i mean really, on espn they were saying boxing is just waiting for someone to step in to the heavyweight division, its just pathetic now, but, i could do 175 then i could go after Roy :boxing:
but back to my orignal question, if i stepped in the ring right now with a professional welter or middleweight, say maybe same height same reach (72) how do you think it would go down?
it's very different, when jens pulver ( my favorite MMA fighter ever ) left martial arts for a while and became a pro boxer he said it was a lot harder than MMA and after only 4 fights ( he won them all ) went back to MMA. jens is punchy now, i think it's because of the damage he took when he was boxing. boxing is harder than MMA, the fights are longer, the gloves have more padding so u get more brain rattling shots
oh its def more brutal, i can tell the difference between the guys i box with and the guys i kickbox with.. the boxers are a little more tapped and appear more like fighters the other dudes appear to be every day ppl, you really dont get that much head trama in KB.your exactly right about the brain damage from boxing, thats why shane mosley wants kids to stop wearing headgear, it only keeps you standing longer to take more head trauma.
correct me if im wrong but dont way more people die from boxing today then the bare knuckled days? bare knuckling is SIMILIAR to a real fight, i mean how many kids have you seen in a street fight die that only involved fists and stops when the kid hit the ground? the bare knuckle fights only lasted a round or two, compared to todays boxing that usually go 20 to 30 minutes.
anyone see pros vs joes with roy jones? the joes were all like 6'2 well over 200 pounds, and roy made them look like complete pussies. although none of these guys seemed to have any boxing experience, roy could easily make it look that way. they didnt want nothing to do with it by the 3rd or 4th shot roy landed on their domes despite all the trash they talked about the size difference. ha 1 guy goes wow roy your little. i was kinda disapointed actually, no one even stood their ground at least.
oh no offense taken at all, if u see my first post i predict i will die, but i was fighting at 155lb 4 months ago, and personally dont think ive slowed at all at 205, just became alot stronger. i was pretty quick too, my sparring partner then was a legit black belt(10 years plus) from my school, not some 'hey heres a black belt for 200 dollars kind of deal', i understand the belt system has no merit and was created entirely as a way to give little kids an incentive to stay with it, but anyways hes about 5'8" 145 pounds, reminds me of bruce lee. hes really really good at point sparring but he just started boxing. any solid punch i landed when i weight 160ish would send him reeling, and that began my thought on the subject. we usually kickboxed as well, if i landed a solid roundhouse up top it would be all over. im trying to figure out how much different kickboxing and boxing really are
