Just seen the news regarding the WBA rejecting the super status sucks to be Martin Murray he really cant get a fair crack.
I disagree with Murray ducking GGG though. Golovkin already had a fight lined up Murray is fighting on the under card in Monte Carlo. Richard Poxon states in the interview it would be an easier fight to make than Martinez or Quillin as they fight primarily in the U.S and Golovkin is willing to fight in Europe where Martin has no Visa issues.
If Martin goes through Fletcher then i would like to see him fighting Sturm and GGG in his next 2 or 3 fights but who knows.
Im guessing this will be broadcast on boxnation in the U.K so i have no problems with it shaping up to be a good card. You guys in america really do get shafted on your prices for PPVs
No one cares about Queensbury and Francis Warren. Also, this card looks awful. Personally, I think they (the Warrens) get too much coverage on BoxingScene.
That's your opinion and I respect that. I think this card has a lot of promise if I am honest though good domestic level fights 50 50 in most cases and good matchmaking. Matthews vs Ormond, Butler vs Montoya and Heffron vs Selkirk should all be decent fights. Stephen smith vs Sykes if the fight happens also should be a nice match as well. Paul smith is always fun to watch as well.
GGG takes a mid round stoppage Golovkin has been tested he has fought fighters with a winning record since his 9th fight and still has around a 90% KO ratio. His recent stoppages over usually durable Opponent's in Ishida and Macklin proved a lot to me about his power and his ability to pick and time his shots effectively.
Boxing fans put too much in to being undefeated. Undefeated fighters rarely give classic matches that you want to watch again and again. Alvarez will bounce back its not like he was hurt or took a horrendous beating in that fight like Ricky did when he decided to open up and go for broke Alvarez did the opposite and protected him self in the late rounds by standing off Mayweather and due to this he was just out thought, out hustled and out boxed by the greatest in the game in and around that weight. at 23 I see him coming back stronger than ever with the right training and the right encouragement from his cornermen.
I couldn't stop laughing after Golovkin has been tested.
Coming from the guy who is singing the praises of a fighter with a 65% KO ratio against guys who most of the time have been stopped previously, who has been stopped by a tomato can himself in the 8th and been out boxed on 2 occasions saying how much of a "Beast" he is.
You had me in stitches throughout this entire thread so. I wont take your opinions to seriously don't worry I realize you're a much better comedian than you are a boxing analyst.
They are both very good talented fighters. The main difference I see is Canelo is much gamer and tougher. Canelo seems to have a much greater will to win and tries so much harder to win. Lara can be lazy and not let his hands go often enough. Canelo also seems to punch harder and take a punch better than Lara. I think Canelo beats him either on points or by KO. Lara is a good boxer but I don't think his boxing skills or ring smarts are even close to what Mayweather showed me on September 14th 2013.
You think Saul would have fought on with the haematoma that Williams gave to Lara?
Lara is tough as nails and a great boxer this would be a bad first fight back for Alvarez he needs a confidence builder against some one who's gonna want to bang with him and let him land shots. So he doesn't have the same sinking feeling he will no doubt have got every time he threw at Mayweather and missed some one like Cotto or Molina who would get him a belt right away
The thing is I don't consider the fights Golovkin has fought tests. People like you are sold on Golovkin but if he loses you get no punishment. I've never acted like any fighter is unbeatable. Golovkin is just to hittable, his hype ends with a brutal KO.
I'm not a fan boy I don't think that GGG is unbeatable I doubt he will get beat by KO as i have seen him eat shots and keep coming with out even a bending of the knees you will have to outbox him and really box out of your skin to beat him.
Macklin, Rossado and Proska are tests most definitely they are like the gate keepers before stepping up to world level where you are expected to go rounds and see the fight out on points and when he is knocking these guys out or stopping them that says a lot about what could be in his future..
I cant see anything Curtis Stevens has that could worry GGG outside of his initial few left hands, but this is boxing I've been wrong before and i will be wrong again
He's looked surprisingly good in his comeback.
Watch the first round of his last fight. It looks like he's shaken off the ring rust
@2:45
He is still massively open to shots still, drops his hands from his chin with every shot and loads up on every shot also. He will get picked to pieces by guys that time him and throw when he throws hes also a counter punchers dream apart from the fact he wasn't throwing singles.
Watch you jump off that Golovkin bandwagon.
Hey how come PWill didn't get all this credit when he beat Ishida, cause he black?
Paul Williams took 10 rounds and won a decision Nobuhiro has a good chin, heart and endurance and GGG walked in touched him in the 3rd and Knocked him out he was the first to do this there's a difference between winning and winning in destructive and impressive fashion.
Same with Macklin, Macklin is durable when he had been stopped he had been stopped late 10th 11th round and against Martinez at that but Golovkin treated him like a school girl KO'd him in 3.
I agree Matthyse was a hype job.
I had Garcia for that fight from the day it was announced but Golovkin is a punching Machine and he picks his shots carefully there's no waste in motion and he is always ready to throw a little like Sergey Kovalev in that respect they are always nice and compact, every shot is a power shot and has hurtful intentions.
Sergey has a higher work rate and his shot selection is a little worse and could probably be beaten a little easierif you can make him fight more rounds.
Cheers.... and thanks for a good interview.
Browne seems like a dead nice fella, maybe a wee bit too nice despite all the warrior tats?
Both of these guys are bubbling beneath the surface and now need to make some kind of move and there's a decent clash of physical skills and attributes which might work pretty well. But reckon the ref will still have to help the fight to stop it becoming a maul.
I am edging towards Towers, but if Browne can soak it up and take Richard into the later rounds it could go the other way. Seen Browne on You Tube a couple of times and he has a more than decent motor for a massive guy and he'll do much more damage than Tony did if he's still there and punching in the later rounds.
He is genuinely a really nice guy he was just about to go asleep when i Arrived had a nightmare day that day with transport issues preventing me travelling to the Kell Brook weigh in and this interview made up for a bad day really nice chap to talk to and he knows his stuff as well.
Got a couple of other questions from this interview coming him talking about James Toney and discussing the Mosley vs Mundine cancellation will post them on here when they are ready.
Actually it's not really new. Saul Alvarez probably got it from training in Mexico somewhere.
I use two foam sticks, use them the same way he described Alvarez. Richardson uses the towel, it's all the same concept to keep you sharp and nice and tight in your defense.
I know this I wasn't saying it was new you just don't see many U.K trainers using the technique so i thought I'd ask Ricky about it, it gives an insight to people who maybe hadn't seen it used before
Depending on how his Jaw heals I can see Ricky coming back stronger than ever if it heals right we cant judge to harshly on the Beltran fight as he did battle a high percentage of the fight with a broken jaw so probably couldn't go through the gears as he would have liked.
Lightweight is a top weight class in the U.K at the minute lots of talented fighters same with super bantam as well with guys like Quigg, Galahad, Frampton and the guys coming up into that mix like Gavin mcdonnell and Michael Walsh.
Also some great talent for the future in various weight classes with the Evans brothers from Wales, The Uptons, Ryan Burnett who I cant say enough good things about just to name a few.
The future looks bright as well as the present with fights like Froch vs Groves, Haye vs Fury, Kell Brook vs Senchenko plus numerous other decent bills all taking place over the coming months in the U.K.
Angel has been through the mill in his life and come through it. People don't like how much he talks but i think it is great for selling a fight. Danny Garcia is one of if not the most under rated American fighter out there. Maybe not so much now he beat Matthyse but i would still say he doesn't get enough respect
Even with his father playing up he seems totally genuine and only wants to do right by his dad and make fans proud. I don't see how he isn't appreciated more.
if broner can't get out of the way of paulie's punches he won't get out of the way of pacs either ... difference is he can't stand there shaking his head and doing jack when he gets hit by pac
Do you think that Broner would fight the same fight against Pac that he fought against Malignagi I highly doubt it he would be more defensive I think. same with the Maidana fight I cant see Broner walking Maidana back the entire 12 rounds
joshua vs leo fight video
Joshua looked great on his debut nice counter work leading up to the finish nice shot selection and finished with accuracy and power
Hopefully he's finally in good spirits
Seems that way Rick seems to be having fun training his fighters and has a great team around him with Mike Jackson and the team down at Hatton Health and fitness.
yeah can be the case he had over 300 amateur wins with 1 loss that he avenged. his first pro fight on boxrec is listed to be against jose ramirez who is 25 - 3 so thats a tough debut and will tell us a lot about him.

Garcia vs Matthyse is a tough fight to call i like Danny's style he has power and can box as well Matthyse has great power and a solid pressure game so it will be interesting. I think Garcia has more options though and there will be a pro Mexican crowd so unless Matthyse can stop Garcia i see Garcia taking the fight on points.
Mayweather keeps his 0 but is pushed as far as he's ever been pushed no easy to score rounds and possible calls for a rematch
Neither Lucas or Danny are mexican so I don't see where your going with
This. Although I think The mexican crowd will be backing Lucas over danny.
True but i think a lot of Mexicans and especially a high percentage of Mexican Americans will cheer for a guy with puerto rican decent that was born and raised in America than they would for a guy from Argentina. Just my opinion but I could always be wrong Mexican fans tend to cheer the guy making the fight so you could very well be right in your theory that they will get behind Matthyse.
I like B'hop but personally think Marquez's accomplishments outstretch Hopkins. Not to lessen what Bernard has done because he has cemented his legacy. Just think Marquez has given more to the fans. It is a close decision though like others have said.
I see this as politics to make the draw less damaging Quigg fought a great fight and the right fight against a Cuban with great amateur experience over 4 rounds he took Salinas deep and worked hard and well in the middle to late rounds Salinas struggled with the pace when Scott started to step in on his punches and throw in flurries.
I scored the fight a draw and had Quigg 1 round up going into the 12th which Salinas won with movement and the more effective work.
A fight with Vic Darchinyan and Quigg might be an interesting match stylistically
He is his brother got an interview with Ronnie from the band of brothers press conference to upload on my channel soon if you wanna subscribe and keep up to date with the U.K fight scene subscribe link to my channel is my sig
The whole Matchroom vs Warren fiasco could be as damaging for British fans as the top rank vs goldenboy feud is for americans there are fights that wont get made due to this. I hope the needle between them subsides over the next few years Warren closed his company to start a new promotion along with queensbury promotions but i hadn't heard the debt owed to debtors was so high. Crazy money.
