sad, as long as he's with bob arum he WILL get big fights. I see Magarito beating down Mayweather, Pacquiao, and Cotto again.
No. Maybe Cotto since his confidence was shattered by plasterhands.
MMGAY has reached it's peak. The same one dimensional glass jawed grapplers are not improving. They still can't throw or take a punch.
Anderson Silva, Alistair Overeem, Jose Aldo, Georges St-Pierre > Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Don Frye.
You're way off.
Georges St-Pierre is also a wrestler with a glass jaw.
Because he was knocked out once with 4 oz. gloves he has a glass jaw?
A few names you from an entire sport(as they call it) doesn't support your argument.
It actually does, saying it doesn't support my argument is...just saying it doesn't support my argument, whether it does or doesn't.
It certainly hasn't evolved over the last five, six years.
Boxing hasn't evolved any faster in the last 5 or 6 years, and notice how every name I mentioned wasn't even a contender 5 or 6 years ago. Which, yet again, "supports my argument." Ha.
"Jack of all trades, master of none."
Demian Maia/Roger Gracie/Jacare Souza are not a masters of jiu jitsu? Johnny Hendricks/Ben Askren are not masters of wrestling? Alistair Overeem/Mirko Filipovic weren't masters of kickboxing? Fedor Emelianenko isn't a master of sambo? Satoshi Ishii isn't a master of Judo?
MMGAY fans tend to confuse skills with options. It's true, there isn't any kicking or groping allowed in the sport of boxing, but boxing is far more than just throwing a fist at a target.
MMA is far more than kicking or groping. Go ahead, don't be afraid to actually watch it once in a while.
MMA only goes to 3 Rounds or 5....in mma most fights finish in the 1st round...where as boxing it is an art, skill and the sweet science making it alot more better then MMA..
MMA = 15 to 25 minutes of boxing, kickboxing, wrestling (ever wrestled?), jiu jitsu
Boxing = 36 minutes of strictly boxing only
There's a reason MMA doesn't go on as long. It involves brute strength in your quads, biceps, triceps (grappling) as well as the boxing/kickboxing element to it.
there was a time when boxing fights were 15 Rounds or in the days of jack johnson or jack dempsey 20 Rounds
There was a day when MMA had NO time limits.
MMA has only had 17 years to evolve. Pretty pointless argument. Boxing is deeper and more refined, too bad the new generation fan prefers all-around fighting skill over the sweet science.
People make fun of slicksters because they want to see a brawl, so they figure the best way to get them to open up more is to challenge their manhood. Basically, they're trying to dare the slicksters to become brawlers for their own viewing enjoyment and try to belittle them after watching an elusive fighter coast to an easy victory.
Lol, boxing is a more exciting sport than any other in the worl, let alone MMgay. The most exciting MMgay fight ever is not more exciting than a couple of boxing fights produced these last 2 years alone.
You said absolutely nothing in this paragraph. Next.
When another organization rises and gets their share of top fighters and the Ali Act get enforced on them too. You won't be talking this reckless shit you are now nuthugger.
Ali Act is a boxing law, Einstein. Show me where the Ali Act was enforced in the NFL, MLB, NBA, or any other promotional sports organization. Answer: it hasn't, because those aren't boxing organizations. LOL!
Take 3 MMA fights and 3 boxing fights (with fighters at the same fighting weight) and show them in different rooms. Put 50 random people in the MMA room and 50 random people in the boxing room and I guarantee you there will be a bigger reaction to the action from the viewers in the MMA room. I'm talking about random, off-the-street every day people who don't give a shit one way or the other about either sport.
So for all those boxing purists who think they speak for the majority, you're learning a hard lesson based on how the United States has already replaced boxing with MMA on the popularity scale. MMA hasn't overtaken boxing on worldwide level yet, only because it hasn't had time to. MMA has only been around for 16 years, with only half of those years where the sport was being managed correctly. It's literally just a matter of time, especially with the UFC getting television deals and holding shows overseas in the UK, Germany and eventually Japan.
Call it humping or gay all you want, but a lot of people out there think boxing looks like two guys playing pattycake with pillows in between clinching every 8 seconds, so it goes both ways. If you think MMA is gay, I'm deathly afraid of what you think of professional football. "Blue 42! Set.....hut!"
You're an idiot nobody knows or cares about Uriah Faber or Mike Thomas Brown.Nobody cares about JMM vs. PBF either, but that wasn't the point I was making anyway. Reading is fundamental, even for retards such as yourself. :boxing:
PBF vs JMM is 2 fighters in their prime 2 top 3 p4p fighters in the world today. It's better than any fight UFC have put on this year or coming up period.
Mike Thomas Brown vs. Urijah Faber. WEC (aka the UFC of the lighter fighters)
Some may argue Penn/GSP, but Penn is overrated.
Also, Anderson Silva vs. GSP is expected to happen before New Years Eve. That is a more interesting fight than JMM/PBF IMO, since the style matchup actually favors the likely underdog (which will be GSP).
JMM vs Mayweather is much better than alot of the trash Dana has put out this year. If Floyd ain't a superstar don't say shit for his roster. 2.4 million homes. Not of Danas fighters can do half that amount.De La Hoya's purse was 2 times bigger than Floyd's, who REALLY sold that fight? LMAO!!
That's a stretch and it's too early to say.
Machida arguably hasn't lost a round since coming into the UFC. Very few guys go undefeated in the UFC, but even fewer (zero) have arguably never lost a single round they've fought and we're talking about 7 fights he's participated in. That's a lot of rounds. Hardly anyone besides Fedor has been this dominant in MMA. The guy Machida defeated for the title, Rashad Evans, was one of the OTHER aforementioned undefeated fighters in the UFC, who won his first 10 fights in the UFC. Going 10-0 is also VERY RARE, even if he arguably lost to Tito, still, going 9-1 is nothing short of incredible for a guy whose frame is small for his own division.
You are fooled into believing that Machida is the second coming of Jesus Christ. He's not and Shogun has a very good chance at beating him.
"Very good chance"? No way.
"A chance"? Yes. Absolutely.
Machida may not be Jesus, but he's arguably the Fedor Emelianenko of the worldwide light heavyweight division.
Nice to see a fellow MMA fan, BTW.
No matter how you try to color it, Mosley is as much a cheater as Margarito, they just tried different methods. End of discussion. Everything else is just excuses, spin and bullshit.
If boxing wants to to catch MMA in North America, they need to make average Joe Sportsfan aware of WHO THEIR FIGHTERS ARE and WHERE THEY CAN SEE THEM FIGHT FOR FREE. Period.
The UFC shows a ton of free, full-length replays of recent fights on ****e TV via their program UFC Unleashed. Imagine if boxing showed full length boxing fights on a cable network constantly, showcasing some of boxing's top fighters. Fans would finally KNOW the fighters out there and would have a frame of reference by actually SEEING them fight before. Boxing does a horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE job of making their sport accessible to the average television viewer. The UFC, on the other hand, is all over the TV.
Boxing just needs to pull its head out of its ass and get in front of the consumer for once and quit hiding in the shadows!!
This fight proves that a fat, out of shape Ray Mercer knocked out an even fatter, more out of shape Tim Sylvia.
Honestly, most MMA fans hate Sylvia and recognized his terrible stand-up long before Mercer exposed him for what he is. Shit, even Fedor Emelianenko, a sambo submission specialist, clowned Tim Sylvia in their brief exchange before the fight hit the mat.
Depth on the cards, having prospects like Korobov, Gamboa, Boytsov, Lara,Rigondeaux etc the face of the guys who will be at the top in a few years time so fans can get to know them, follow their career, and get invested in the fighters
and marketing, the UFC owns all and that's a big reason why they have so many casual fans and why alot of them turn into real fans
for every event they have a countdown show like 24/7. They show you the fighters, their career, a glimpse of their lives.
Knowing the fighters makes it more interesting, their career progression gets the fan invested in them and that's how to get your hooks in them and keep them fans
how many would know who Clotty, Kessler, Williams, Chagaev, Darchinyan are? Those are big names and most people wouldn't have a ****ing clue, even someone like Cotto^^ Dude gets it.
Seriously, boxing - with all its corruption and problems - is really VERY CAPABLE of rivaling MMA's meteoric rise in popularity if they can just GET THEIR PRODUCT IN FRONT OF THE CASUAL VIEWER'S EYES. That's boxing's biggest problem, in my opinion.
If you dont think an elite boxer could go into K-1 and defeat with the best you are once again out of your mind.
Let me guess, a pro boxer would also hit for a better average than all baseball players too. Lovely! I bet Floyd Mayweather would crush Usain Bolt in a 100 meter sprint as well.
Face it, kickboxing is a 4 point striking sport, boxing is a 2 point striking sport. Remy Bojansky would kick the living bejesus out of any professional boxer under K1 rules, with a big smile on his face while doing it. Imagine Miguel Cotto trying to defend a head kick, he would look no less awkward than he would trying to kick a field goal from the 35 yard line.
Would Remy Bojansky get smoked in a pure boxing war? Yes. I realize that because I'm secure with the fact that a boxer wouldn't win every type of fight out there. Especially a street fight against an MMA fighter, which almost goes without saying. But I'll leave it to Boxinghomer McGee to dispute THAT one.
MMGay is not on the level of boxing. That's all there is to it.
Wrong. MMA fighters are not on the level of boxers...in boxing. I'm pretty sure a boxer would get clowned in kick boxing, muay thai boxing, wrestling and submission grappling competitions against MMA fighters. DOH!
Bottom line is boxers are paid 50x the money and mmgay fans like to watch semi nude men "grapple" with each other.DUHR, my naim is boxingfanboi, DUHHHHRRRRRR! Gay nude wrestling DUUHHHRRRR.
Actually, most pro boxers make less than MMA fighters, it's just the money-stealers at the top (aka "Money" Mayweather) who make the big bucks while the undercard boxers are getting the shaft.
I laugh at the "boxers have a punching chance in an MMA fight, but MMA fighters don't have a puncher's chance in boxing" argument. Makes zero sense, since anyone with a powerful punch - boxer or not - can connect on anybody and score a flash knockout.
In fact, boxers would get smoked in a pure stand-up fight against a Muay Thai or kickboxing-styled MMA fighter. Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida would completely overwhelm any boxer of similar size in a 4 point stand-up fight.
P.S. Ray Mercer vs. Kimbo "D-level MMA fighter" Slice. YouTube it!
Well this post is stupid for a variety of reasons.
If you honestly think an MMA'er can KO a boxer in a boxing rules bout...Reading is fundamental. 'Nuff said.
