thats just plain ugly and looks childish, like some kind of pinata material. Ring may be credible, but you cant compare that belt with the professional look of the rest.
Hitman - rocky should fight for the OAG belt - Old Ass Geezer :D
I like it. It looks old school and powerful. IMO a belt doesn't have to look like it belongs on a wrestler to look good. Oh, Rocky had a Ring belt. Maybe the producers thought that it was the best belt too.
I guess WBC but I think Ring is the most fair of the bunch......and should be more highly reguarded than these ABC corrupt orginizations.Don't get me wrong everyone is on an agenda but I think the Ring is relatively fair. :boxing:
I thought that Ring was without a doubt the best. I also prefer it's look. That Olympic style red, white and blue is tight. It looks like a boxer utility belt.
I say Freddie Roach. He has trained at least 17 champions in his stable since he started training. He holds the record for being the youngest trainer to ever have a champion. Next to Manny he is more active and he's been quoted saying that he has many more years of training to do regardless of his condition. BTW I picked up Freddies DVD on TITLE and it had allot of good training info.
I am a MMArtist myself and I don't kick. Not because I think it's pussy but because it is not my preferance. I prefer boxing and BJJ. I've fought against kickboxers as a boxer and I've won. I admit that they didn't have devastating kicks like that guy did. If that were so, I would have lost. I wouldn't fight in K-1 as a pure boxer because if you do and try to get on the inside the kickboxer would simply clench, knee strikes and they would seperate then he'll kick you again. That's why I prefer fighting rules where you are allowed to grapple if your boxing ability becomes absolite.
I agree. 99% of the heavies are just that...heavy! Most don't even know the rudiments of boxing. The fundamental basics..the side to side..the counter...the block...and, wait for it..COMBINATIONS! The last heavy to fight with combos was Ali. Hollyfield in his day wasn't too bad as well.
I believe that the entire sport of boxing has been killed by:-
1. Too many different boxing bodies. ie. WBO, WBC, etc.
There should be only ONE body. This would sort out the
chumps from the champs. For instance...how much longer is
Calzaghe gonna run from the true hitters and that goes for
a lot more of the other guys.
2. There is far too much money being paid to boxers. It's no
longer a case of the sport being bigger than the man.
The promoters should be brought to book for their ridiculous matchings...bodies should be fined for allowing these fights to take place.
The only exciting fights today, are within the lower weight divisions. I rarely even watch the blundering heavies! This latest European 'invasion' may just be the wake up call that is needed in the division. Rahman? Baaaah..he's a joke!
Good post. Boxing experts are always saying the heavyweight division is flooded with champions for a day and that's the reason that boxing is dying out. I disagree with those folks because I believe that the lower divisions are producing better and more exciting fighters which attract a different boxing fan. It used to be that the Heavyweights were the featured event but now I see them in undercards like any other weight class. I also believe that Eastern Europeans are gynetically taller and that along with lifting weights can make you a fit heavyweight. I havn't payed to watch a Heavyweight PPV since Tyson lost to Lewis.
one thing about the european heavyweight boxers is that they are generally schooled better than american heavyweights. ive noticed that a lot of the eu heavyweights double up on the jab which gives them a chance to get their bigger shots of. brewster kept throwing single jabes from what i saw, and sergies duoble jabb would push brewster back and give him space to get his shots off
Yeah, in my opinion most of the Eastern Europeans have a fundamental grasp of boxing. There text book style is plain as day yet american boxers aren't adjusting to it as efficiently as they should.
Ok listen guy. Who ever says Cotto is one dimesonal is stupid. It's like saying Floyd Mayweather is one dimesonal. It's like saying Jose Luis Castillo is featherfisted! It's stupid. so they deserve bad K and you for saying that deserve it also. It's stupid. It's absurd! Don't watch boxing if someone thinks Cotto is one dimensonal.[/QUOTE
BK stand up!Us Brooklyn natives gotta stick together on this. I'm a Cotto fan just the same but I can see why some of the haters might see Miguel as one dimensional. He never really gets the chance to show how diverse he is because he keeps knocking them out. I've seen some fights with Cotto where he actually went 12rnds. He showed resilliance and composure as well as ring generalship. If that's not proof of a well rounded fighter then what is? With Malignaggi, I doubt it's gonna take all that. So don't get so mad, Undefeated. There gonna hate no matter what.
Los Boricuas se respetan!

Well, Trinidad had to fight in Las Vegas allot because of his promotion(Don King). Had the Trinidad camp exercise some acertion they would have fought in Madison Square more often. As far as Cotto, his promotion team(Gary Shaw)is slightly more flexible. Gary Shaw's willingness to do better than his competition(Golden Boy)which incidently is showing a PPV fight the day after has worked out to Pual Malignaggi and Miguel Cotto's favor, especially since the Puerto Rican day parade will take place the day after.
Gawd man, don't remind me .....
LOL!I cried the night of the Trinidad VS Hopkins fight. Just kidding. I watched it with a bunch of Dominican friends at work and when Tito lost, I was extremely angry. They did not sympothise with me.
New York is more of a house for Itlians, than Puerto Ricans, he is right about that. Their white, ex-mafia, and dont forget that they are pretty good fighters, Paulie is gonna be a big test. I've seen Mexicans go to NY and get PR descions....
I disagree. I think it's even in most ways. I'm from Brookyn myself and I could honestly say that it's gonna be crazy with the Paisans and the Boricuas. The Boricuas are gonna be yelling Cotto! Cotto! Cotto! While the Paisans are gonna be chanting Paulie! Paulie! Paulie. Just like that. It's gonna be B-A-N-A-N-A-S!
I'm going to be really disapointed if cotto loses!!! He has some good fights lined up like castillo and Hatton and both fights could be Fight of the year type of fights for sure. I really hope malignagi doesnt outbox him.
You sound unsure. Why? If you have seen both fighters in action, I think you should rest asure that Cotto is the clear winner. If Paul had some better defense than maybe I would say that he can get away with out boxing Cotto. That won't be the case though. I'm confident that Cotto will find a way to KO Malignaggi. I keep saying this. Paul's weak and injured right hand can't generate enough power. His jab is outstanding but will it be enough to stop Cotto. I seriously don't think so.
An avid New York Yankees fan, Paulie "The Magic Man" Malignaggi (21-0, 5 KOs), has returned to the heart of Boston Red Sox country to train once again with famed strength-and-conditioning coach, Mike Boyle, in preparation for Malignaggi's breakthrough June 10th mega-fight against World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (26-0, 22 KOs) at Madison Square Garden. details]
Wow, Paulie's talking allot of KaKA. But it's cool because he's generating much publicity wether he wins or not. As a Brooklyn native I'm happy for Paul Malignaggi for getting this chance. As a proud Puerto Rican I'm shocked that he would say that Cotto is stepping into his domain when Cotto is welcomed there by his PR fans. As we say "Mi casa es su casa"! I admit that Cotto is my favorite boxer but as a realist I still have to go with Cotto. I won't make the same PRcan pride driven mistake I made with Trinidad vs Hopkins. I've thought about it rationally over and over again and I see Cotto winning by KO before the 8th.
