Koki, Daiki, and Shiro Kameda would make the Mayweather, and Judah family look like saints!
Koki's got one of the best ring entrances i've seen in boxing, i used to like him and his brother, i thought that their bizarre bad boy antics were all showbiz entertainment, like their after-fight karaoke serenade.. just part of the show.
i guess not, their street gutter behaviour is genuine!
father/trainer, Shiro, previously had his licence suspended for abusing a referee! Daiki, was suspended for punching Naito, MMA-style, while they wrestled on the canvass. Koki ordered Daiki to elbow Naito in the eye! as a consequence, Kyoei Gym was also stripped of a licence for failing to control their fighters.
For all their toughie antics, they all ignored Nonito Donaire's challenge!
For this fight, Koki would probably dethrone Naito who's really nothing special, except being noted for his twin victories (in a 4-fight series) over a badly faded Pongsaklek Wonjongkham, who btw previously knocked Naito's arse out cold in 34secs. of the 1st round (the record in the flyweight division!) during Pong's prime.
Sad to think Wongjongkam is faded at this point, he never had a marquee fight outside of asia.
yeah but mijares got beat up by darchinyan like a ragdoll and we all know what happen to larios vs the pacman....lol...nothing to be proud of there with them bums....actually larios is ok...
Pac isnt japanese, and by large believe it or not, i dont think pac is held in the same regard in japan as say, a koki kameda or a Hasegawa, they dont exactly think highly of pacific islanders.
yea, a Pong-Darchinyan/Arce fight coulda, woulda, shoulda been entertaining..
He wanted to fight Arce, and Darchinyan, but his promoter wanted to protect the image of their sponsor - Red Bull (Krating Daeng). They were businessmen, they wanted to protect their fighter, twas part of their corporate risk-management. And they had another agenda to promote their brand name, that is for Pong to set a new record for the most number of successful title defenses in the flyweight division!
His battle vs Hussein Hussein was his last genuine challenge where the risk of losing was there. Pong manhandled Hussy! even before Arce got the credit for their crackling 2-fight duel highlighted on HBO, remember that poster of a smiling 'warrior' Arce with a bloody nose, cowboy hat, and a lollipop?!
Yea. i know the whole story. Arce and Darchinyan were calling out Wonjongkam but the fights just never happened. Seemed like nobody was really willing to spend the cash to get that guy out of here.
I saw both Arce/Hussein fights, the 2nd fight wasnt as good, it was the on the undercard of Corrales/Castillo 2. The first fight was a war, Arce was dominant but hussein hung in here.
Pong though, i remember how he basically dedicated his life to the sport and had an enourmous amount of defenses, but on here he was always rediculed for not fighting outside of asia or avoiding the hot fighters at the time, but honestly i already knew it was the promoter protecting him, thats why i said a guy like that who was so good for so long is now about to toil to gatekeeper status.
link some of their fights please... wanna know what all the hype is about.
you wont see it from his fights, its the fact that hes a homegrown youngster who was groomed for stardom, hes a media darling and very popular there.
Kassim Ouma, such a precipitous drop from being a rising star in the sport to losing to Gabriel Rosado.
it started with his loss to roman karmazin and showed signs of it with his descion win over kofi jantuah
Like real talk, they should set it up on here where the same person can ONLY make 2 threads a day about Floyd..RATHER A FAN OR A HATER...As a FAN OF BOXING, I am SICK of these same old tired threads .....bring back the OLD NSB..these new guys have ruined it..
hate to break it to you, but the old nsb was basically the same thing it is today. haters, lovers etc. the landscape changes, but the concept is still the same
I like this era of WW but I just don't see Pac or Floyd moving up to face someone like Hearns or Leonard in their prime at WW. And even though Floyd might move up to WW even with them there, I doubt he fights them. It would be funny hearing him get out of fighting them with them not being worthy and all.
I was thinking about this when I was going over some past and recent fighters move up in weight and how timing is everything. Some fighters are lucky they don't have to fight certain fighters on the ATG list in history in those divisions. Like if we were to list all the ATG and put them in a division in fantasy world, how many fighters could continue to move up and beat ATG fighters so they can claim they were legit 2, 3, 4, etc. division Champs?
Imagine just one belt also.
Cotto, big fan but he gets KTFO by Tommy Hearns.
Truthfully, if these guys were at the top at welter, 140 would likely be stacked with all the guys not willing to move up to 147 to face them.
yeah pac picks guys like barrera/morales/marquez/hatton/cotto... his resume speaks for itself
people are regarding him the best of this era and of all time for a reason
the dude keeps on fighting the best @ different weight classes. is all
golden era of fw, pac fought them all... golden era of ww, hes trying to fight them all
leonard/hearns, he would fight them as well
..no he wouldnt. roach is smart enough when to say when. Hearns has a jab that would lay waste to pacs angles, the height to fend him off, and a devastating cross that would drop him. I dont see pac going against duran, hearns or leonard.
None of you put stock in floyd unless he says something that suggest hes going to duck him?
Pretty much oscar is pushing for it, if oscar is pushing that means hes willing put money up to do it, i just think mayweather is mum on the situation until all parties sit down.
Trinidad was too one demensional. De La Hoya used his movement and his jab and basically left tito dumbfounded for nearly 9 rounds. I see little reason why floyd wouldnt do the same. I was such a huge fan of trinidads, but he if you didint stand and brawl or leave an opening, he always had trouble with guys who had movement and a tight defense.
He was trying to counterpunch lock and take advantage of locks wild swings, but the left hand over the top, he simply couldnt stop it. he often times let lock get distance on him and he followed him around the ring and got dressed up several times. On the punch that knocked him out it was a case of a punch that he didint see coming. The guy really needs to work on either learning to cut off the ring and fight on the inside, or some type of defensive posture to where he can be comfortable at the center of the ring with a guy thats bigger than him
i can honestly say, knocking someone to the ground and standing over them, in a fight you didint start, is a very thrilling moment. I havent experienced that since school, but you definately feel proud when it happens.
As for hitting him on the ground, he was trying to send a message, and that message is dont fukk with me. His adreinline is pumping, and i dont think hes trying to think about what he should logically do at that point.
If you know that than every single Therad with his name in it you're in as well . I tend to hit the nerves with peckerRyders like yourself!
I just dont understand why you would bother watching or talking about a guy who is so boring, such a fraud and such a disgrace to boxing. If i thought that about a certain fighter, i wouldnt even waste my time discussing him is my point.
Im a fan of mayweathers to an extent, his conflicted additude is the most intruiging in boxing, and it shows when the same people who claim to not find his fights exciting, who claim he is such a fraud, who claim they never buy or watch his ppvs, continue to give him the attention he warrants. Ill never understand that.
umm Tito was a good fight early on in Occar's Career. Not enough yet to be as big and known as he is even today. That was a long time ago. Chavez/Whitaker...great fighters liked the fights, fighting a young DLH...come on, you think back then PPV would have been big with a new oscar?
Just the idea that the star of DLH was fighting an undefeated fighter and P4P #1 guy made more people tune in .Also because of the hype 24/7 and the promotion was great pushing and shoving in the press conference...It was hyped. Mayweather had his chance to deliver. Instead he nearly lost. and it came down to a split decision. lol ... One hit wonder. The shit Mayweather did talk he couldnt back up and hes boring..... After JMM fight what casual fight fan would have friends over to see Floyd. Hes not exciting . Hes predictable . And the things hes known for are becoming more true now.
Bob Arum hit the nail on the head in this video......
I think floyd excites you to some extent because every single fukking thread with his name on it, you are in.
floyd is not a dangerous fighter. he's a potshotter.
cotto and mosley are more dangerous for pac because they are harder punchers and are willing to brawl with pac.
the fact that those two would try to brawl and make it a war is exactly why they arent as dangerous, they allow an oppurtunity and an opening to win the fight, floyd does no such thing. He may not be dangerous in terms of devastating power or brawling, but you do risk looking foolish and clueless during the fight.
It was not wrong of Mosley to get on the microphone and say that a fight between the two of them would be a mega event. He did not get on the mic and say 'I'll beat you any day of the week, Floyd.'. He was invited into the interview by HBO and he was respectful, said his words and was backing off.
What happened was all because of Bernard Hopkins and his big mouth.
The article is just trash, making it out like Shane is a bully. He never disrespected Floyd. All he disrespected was Floyd's precious ego.
And why would Shane 'concede the stage' at the post-fight conference. He's a member of GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS. He's ALWAYS on the stage post-fight.
Just a dumb article in my opinion.
Anyway I'm glad that what happened, happened. Floyd had cheated on the scales and I don't blame HBO for instigating a fight with a real welterweight.
I agree alot of it was hopkins, so i can see where you are coming from. Boss Hop was in there pushing his guy so he can cake off of the fight as a goldenboy ceo. In all honesty, that type of disrespect does fuel interest though, i certainly dont give a sh!t about a pac/mayweather fight after saturday. I have been waiting for SSM and PBF to get it on since they were both on the cover of ring magazine togther, it was either ring of KO monthly.
Him choosing guys who have no chance in hell may be part of it, but what you can not hate on is his skills. Defense wins championships, and this is why I was once a fan of Floyd before he lost his heart. It really saddens me that full body defense is a dying art form. The only two active fighters with this attitude are Floyd and Hopkins. Long live defensive technitians, and I hope Floyd gets the heart he lost after the Gatti fight back.
Street Bully mark my words, floyd is very insecure, and his insecurity usually pays off with a fight that he knows hell be respected for taking. I would be shocked if his next fight wasnt against an opponent who serves a purpose in potentially challanging him. Have patience.
I don't think he should be, or at least it should have a great impact.
It was a fight no one wanted to see, and I don't think Chad wanted too either.
Dawson has great physical tools, and has yet to put on an true A performance, IMO. As good as the first Tarver fight was, he still took rounds off, which is my biggest gripe with him.
Tarver forced a rematch nobody wanted to see and he was dominated a second time, i see no reason why he should be judged.
Id rather people think of me as 'I dont want to **** with him(they like and respect me)' more than 'I better not **** with him(I fear him)'
its no good going to school constantly watching your back, waiting for someone to try and get revenge one day.
not too many people at my school ever got these 'messages' anyway. losing a fight didnt mean you lost the war to them, they just needed more troops. I dont feel like I even went to that bad of a school, but people still got mugged in the bathrooms and garbage.
honestly, Im amazed other people didnt jump in in this fight situation. fights never stayed one on one when they used to duke it out by the 7/11
I grew up in the ghetto also and i live in oakland. I know full well what the circumstances are to doing something like that, but the reality is, getting in a fight and winning will lead to that sh!t no matter what. Unless you yourself run with a crew thats feared, losing a fight and losing face is enough for that to happen. If someone has a problem with you, winning a fight is enough to have others jump in days later etc. I dont understand why you think an act of chivalry like "not hitting on the ground" would prevent that.
Everyone I talked to about the Mayweather-Marquez card, did not feel like they got their money's worth, and did not enjoy the card and especially not the main event.
Where do you live in the bay area? I live in oakland, the consensus was certainly the opposite. Alot of people i know saw it in packed movie theaters in union city and in san jose. I was suprised to hear how many people were in the theaters myself.
Exactly the reason why i feel he didn't put on his best performance and even still, the fight was no where near close. Its hard to motivate yourself after you completely shut out someone in the first fight. Dawson will look better against people who are not as defensive and cautious as Tarver was.
somehow i knew you were going to post. lol. I swear you go M.I.A for weeks on NSB and your dawson radar goes off and you are right here. Its good to see you posting.
Terrible article. Mosley's respect and class hadn't gotten him any fights, it was obvious that he needed to do this.
I remember Floyd Sr. saying a while ago that Shane Mosley was a "real fight". I guess he has changed his mind now.
It got him fights, just not the ones he wanted, he didint want williams, berto etc, he wanted pac or mayweather, he wants the huge payday and didint do anything to stay busy in between that. I cant say i feel super sorry for him because he wanted the hugest payday, while thats understanable, there were other fights in between he could have taken to help rise his stock.
Via http://twitter.com/AndreBerto
Guy ain't got the balls to fight any of the top welters yet has something to say. He should worry about getting back in the gym and fighting Collazo or anybody with a pulse.
Berto should actually follow his own advice on that one.
That was one of the worst articles I have ever read.
Why do you feel that way? You dont think it was out of place for mosley and hopkins to do something like that? I certainly did.
I'm not sure that at his age, fights with Berto and Williams would do much more for his status. Paul Williams maybe but that's someone no one below 160 wants to fight and he isn't exactly a name.
I also find it interesting that Ellerbe is saying here that Mayweather and Mosley will fight. Could the other article be wrong?
http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=22329
he might have been quoted in the heat of the moment. Ellerbe may be a yes-man on camera but i have read that behind closed doors that he is mayweathers closest advisors and he tells mayweather exactly how he feels. i see this fight happening very soon.
