What PEDcquiao does not understand is that he's the Bside now. Horn beat fair and square , you have to go to australia and take less money
That's not quite how A-Side vs B-Side works. Horn isn't the A-side because he won the first fight, although he does have more negotiation power than he did in the first fight.
Jokes about DeGale's sister aside, I think he does actually want him as a boxer. Mayweather is trying to get fighters in each division, like most promoters. It's not a coincidence that Jack is moving up to 175. This definitely happens if DeGale signs with Mayweather...
Flanagan hasn't fought anyone near the top of the division. He's too busy fighting the Cruz's and Petrov's of the division. Now that the division is taking off (and I do believe it to be one of the most talented in boxing), he wants a shot at the top dogs. He should stand in line for that Linares fight. Garcia-Linares would have priority for me. Flanagan can fight Easter Jr to unify and that would be interesting. It would give a better idea of how people stack up in the division. I think Flanagan is a step below Garcia and Linares.
eddie hearn is a lie? you are a clown my friend. team wlad is actually confirming everything that hearn just said, it's just not hearn. they have said everything was agreed upon but wlad had a change of heart and wanted the WBA instead. in other words wanting lucas browne as his resume is riddled with these types of opponents.
do you have no pride my friend? this is shameful and wlad should be told about himself not just by hearn but his team/fans because he's embarrassed his team.
not fans like you coming out playing games and creating smoke screens. no one has time for playing games in this day and age in boxing anymore. fights falling through. guys not wanting to fight each other. fighters being offered 25%. 1 million for fighting bums. you think boxing fans have time for you or wlads games of squeezing out of a fight? NO. no one has time for games at this point in boxing my friend. if you want to play games tell wlad to go bowling & f*ck off.
I don't know how to give you one of those green gems. But yeah, all of this!
I don't respect you continuously overlooking Spence. He's just chasing money fights. I don't know why he thinks he can fight Khan before he fights Spence. He has earned his shot, so Brook needs to focus at the task at hand. It will be much harder to convince Khan (who I think is ducking Brook) to fight him if he doesn't have a belt. By the way, Brook needs to move up anyway. He is obviously squeezing himself down in every way possible to make 147. You would think he would get more criticism for going through all that trouble to take advantage of his size instead of his pretty good boxing ability...
I completely understand him not coming back to 147 after moving up to 160, whether he wins or loses.... BUT do not talk about how you are willing to come down and fight Spence and then start this mess. Don't start with this stuff about your missus and kids. That's when people start saying you're ducking. I get that it's hard, but this seems like unnecessary commentary to deflect a return to 147. I'm not feeling that talk... He is right though. If he wins, that would be incredible. I don't think I would know how to rank Brook if that happened....
Using Kell to build the fan base necessary to force the BJS fight... I like the idea... Hopefully, he makes it happen. This also reinforces the idea that he wants the belts more than anything else.... With that being said, I think if Canelo offers him the fight, he takes that over BJS. But whatever. BJS, Jacobs, Canelo, maybe Lara, or move up. Other than that (I'm probably missing someone), I won't really be moved. Hopefully these fights happen soon.
This article is weirdly written with topics all over the place.... But no. He didn't win. He didn't beat Floyd. That's just a loss that he will have to suck up. I gave him 4 rounds with one of them being able to go either way. Floyd just controlled the ring better in my opinion. He beat Pac to the punch (even though they were few and far between). It is what it is. No, I don't think his shoulder was seriously messed up (this excuse is getting less and less play as time goes on). No, I don't want a rematch. Yes, we should all just move on and acknowledge the dud that it was.
I don't think he would be number 1, but I also don't put GGG as high on the list as many others, mainly because he hasn't had the fights that he is seeking.... It doesn't matter though. I don't think Brook will win
Fun Fact: Approximately one month after Ward witnessed the destruction of Lemieux, Ward's team announced that they can't make 168 anymore!
That's a meaningless amd nonconsequential fact in my book. Ward just fought Kov. I have no reason to believe he is intimidated by GGG because he beat the great Lemieux.
I believe Schaefer would have made the fight. He is absolutely right that if this fight would have already gone down, people would ask for a rematch in the future. People are already interested in rematches of Canelo with Cotto and FMJr that will probably do better than their first fights. That "Let it marinate" garbage needs to stop.
So now are we going to ask this for every fighter who is pass his prime like BHop is the one fate you want to prevent? Come on, man! BHop was old a decade ago. I am not taking anything away from Smith. When fighters should retire becomes more sensitive the okder you get. BHop just had one fight too many. Considering that Cotto fought respectfully against a young Canelo, there is no reason to think he'll get banged out of the ring, even with the layoff because his opponent is coming off a layoff also...
Although I do think that GGG fighting at MW is a waste of everyone's time (I don't care about # of defenses, unifying meaningless belts, or any other motive that has been used for him staying at MW), the fact that a lot of other boxers keep coming out and saying that GGG should move up is telling. We want competitive fights. Seeing him whoop BJS's ass doesn't do it for me. He should move up and challenge himself. Once you are clearly the best of your division, why hang around at that division? Move up and continue to build on that legacy. This isn't a shot at GGG, but I want to see better fights than someone getting their ass kicked for 6 rounds. It's a waste of time.
Why does this even matter? Do you get a bigger pay cut? I reckon your name gets out there a little more and the fight would catch more casuals' eyes, but is that that big of a deal... Win the fight and continue building that resume so you can headline cards. Geez, this seems so petty..
Ummm. I can't say that I'm surprised. A lot of people who wanted to order the fight can't because we don't have cable. Therefore, we go watch it at bars. Also, the fight costs damn near $70. So I have to get cable, get HBO, and then pay for it... Nahhh. I know I'm not the only one who had this problem. Until boxing can figure out to get with the times and adjust to the fact people are not going to pay ridiculous amounts, even for the best, high anticipated fights, they will continue to see smaller and smaller numbers... There are also other reasons for the poor showing (mediocre promoting, people pissed about May-Pac, etc.) but boxing is behind in many ways and this is one of them...
I'm not sure who I prefer in this fight... However, I'm glad that it's happening. I'm thinking I want Williams to win only for the possibility of busting up the stagnation of Lara and the Charlo brothers not fighting each other.... Anyway, this should be a fun fight. May the best man win. 154 is loaded with young talent, so there is no reason why we shouldn't be getting more fights like this...
What would that make Bellew if he beat Ward? Not much. LOL. A guy who managed to beat someone who is significantly smaller than him. Although Ward refuses to, he could still arguably make 168. Bellew beating him at CW wouldn't mean much for him. However, Ward beating Bellew would say a lot about Ward, which I would favor Ward in this fight.
Few things: The Haye fight was irrelevant. Not only was Haye on one leg, but we don't know how good he was after he came back from retirement. The Stevenson fight doesn't translate here. Bellew was drained and he wouldn't be against Ward in a CW fight.
You're acting like Golovkin needs Jacobs and it's his fault the fight isn't signed. Golovkin doesn't need Jacobs. So are most people who are blaming Golovkin or saying he needs to be the one giving Jacobs everything to make the fight.
He can move on to a variety of other options if Jacobs walks away. Jacobs, on the other hand, has to make this fight if he wants to retain any credibility. He needs this fight way more than Golovkin, and will deserve the blame for asking for absurd purse splits if the fight doesn't happen.
I'm so sick of everyone blaming Golovkin for the fighters that duck him. That's exactly what's happening here, people preparing reasons to blame Golovkin if Jacobs ducks him. It's exactly what you're doing. The f*cking guy is reportedly asking for 40% and a tuneup. If that's true, he doesn't want the fight.
I see we are getting nowhere. LOL. We'll just have to agree to disagree. If the fight doesn't happen, they both can kick rocks until they find someone to pique my interest. I want good fights. Period. I don't care about their money, split, status, etc. If they make it happen, great. If not, wake me up when they fight someone who can offer a competitive bout. BJS, Lee, or Eubanks aren't it. If Canelo doesn't come, we can all see Jacobs and GGG fight people whom they will be highly favored against.
Burns is definitely cashing out. There is no way that he seriously thinks he would beat Crawford. His next fight is probably his last one, unless he beats Broner or Crawford by some miracle... If Crawford is going to stay at 140 (he should move up in my opinion), he might as well unify all belts at the division (this is an overrated concept to me). Crawford is the clear best at the division. Hopefully, he hurries up and fight the other title holders and move up... I haven't heard much ridiculous stuff from Broner. Maybe he's taking boxing seriously again. With more focus, he would be in a lot better position.
Ward totally didn't answer the question. LOL. Oddly enough, I do believe that he approaches each opponent with an immense amount of respect and you can see it through his preparation for each fight. Boxing is a dangerous sport and Ward understands that. Kov is Ward's biggest challenge to date, just like Ward is Kov's biggest challenge. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. 3 more weeks!!!
I'm glad Breadman addresses PEDs often. One of the most honest voices in bkxing in my humble opinion. With that being said, it could drift into paranoia for fans. As a fan, you have to remember to enjoy the sport instead of looking to accuse everyone of trying to get some sort of edge.
I respectfully disagree with all this Chocolatito praise yhough. Definitely an HOFer, but he started out at 108 and then dropped to 105 to get a belt. He balloons up in between fights instead of staying in the best shape. More importantly, he gets hit alot with his style. Once he couldn't bully people with volume and power, the ending showed up. Great career amd great fighter, but I'm not going to fet carried away by him moving up in 3 lb increments. He wasn't even that much smaller than Sor Rungvisai anyway...
Zlat should really focus on Mikey because he may not win this one to be looking far down the road. However, I'm glad he said this. People are talking about a weak ass Pac-Loma fight while not acknowledging that Loma would be overlooking a very good 135 pound division. Loma has the goods and could very well clear out the 135 division, but I got to see it. There are still a bunch of quality fights out there for anyone in the 130-135 group of weights. I think 2017 is going to be awesome for boxing...
People commenting clearly are not reading the article. He says that he would fight Canelo. He can't fight his brother. He and Lara share the same trainer. Therefore, if he beats Williams, what do you want him to do at 154. There's no one else. Should he waste his time with Vanes? Maybe he should fight the Yuri Foremans of the world? Geez! Get it together. If he does win and get opportunities, I don't think he will duck them. He could have delayed the Trout and Williams fights longer. I think this guy may actually want tougher challenges. Let's see if he can and will step up to the plate.
Let's see, Thurman is fighting Garcia. Khan is fighting Brook. We know it can't be Bradley! So the only fighters I can think of, NOT named Terence Crawford, that would be worthy of a Pacquiao payday are: Shawn Porter and Errol Spence Jr.! That is unless Bob Arum convinces everyone that Jeff Horn is a star in the making. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Jeff Horn!
It wouldn't surprise me at all either. Jeff Horn was going to have to fight Spence for the IBF title if Brook decided to vacate. That talk completely disappeared and then I hear rumblings about Horn being this good fighter that could do well against Pacman. Complete garbage if Pacman takes that fight. I don't care how you dice it. I would much rather he wait and face someone you mentioned than fight Jeff Horn. Competely unexcusable, given all the potential fighters at 147 and 140... I won't be surprised if a few months from now we hear, "We can't fight Crawford because he is going through legal issues."
Collazo is going to mess around and become the mandatory. If that happens, Spence needs to fight him no later than May and look to fight again in the fall. Don't waste time trying to get these other clowns in the ring. Get that mandatory out of the way and move on to clearing out the division.
Where do you casuals come out of? Lomachenko is fighting at 130 while Rigo last fought at the Super Bantamweight limit of 118 lbs. If you remotely had a clue about boxing or ever laced them up, you would know that NO fighter would go down 2 weight classes to fight anyone. That fight is a pipe dream for some of you casuals because you're clueless and that's putting it very very lightly...
Many of the posters here are fake fans or casuals whose only interest is in being able to say he ducking doe.
In reality this fight is far from happening because of the weight difference.
Ask Al Bernstein. But it's still good ammunition in hating on Lomachenko.
Rigo fights at 122, not 118. Also, there are 3 divisions between 118 and 130, not 2, although there are 2 divisions between Loma and Rigo. Furthermore, Rigo said he would go up to 130 to fight Loma. However, Loma ended up fighting Marriaga. The fight may not happen and I would say that it's due to weight. However, Bob Arum also doesn't want this fight to happen. Rigo already derailed the Donaire hype. If Loma fights and loses to Rigo, it would be the second time Top Rank gets burned by him. Not worth the risk...
I agree largely with what is being said here. This is one of the most exciting division out there. 147 has been at the top for a while, but until recently, no one was signing up to fight each other. I think 115 has a lot of good fighters that can lead to exciting fights. HW is interesting, but not as talented. 135 is super talented and has a lot of fights to be made. It's just a matter of making them. GIVE THE FANS WHAT THEY WANT!!! 2017 is going to be a good year. I just have a feeling.
