Gotta give Vergil his due, the only American last Saturday that made America proud. Honestly, if it wasn’t for his stellar performance against Madrimov the whole world would have left thinking American boxing was boring AF after witnessing that Shakur fight. Can’t wait to see what Turki got next for Vergil the kid is definitely must see TV. Maybe he can grease Mauricio Sulaiman palms a bit to order Fundora to fight Vergil next after the Booker fight.

No cap, Vergil fights in the best/deepest division in boxing. The 154 lbs is where a fighter can built a legacy on w/t names like Fundora, Conwell, Ramos, Zayas, Murtazaliev, Tszyu, Lubin, Tellez, Bohachuk, Madrimov, Crawford, Spence, Charlo and eventually Ennis & Ryan as well. As Vergil already shown he’ll fight anyone and now that Turki backing him, I think we’ll see many of these matches being made in the near future. Also, Vergil’s style is must see TV his aggressive come fwd style is what casuals love to see. Now that Canelo in the twilight of his career, the largest fan base in boxing Mexican/American & Mexicans will be looking for the next Throne bearer no doubt in my mind Vergil is the next man up. Oscar’s has built a face of boxing before in Canelo, I’m confident he can again w/t Vergil the kid is truly about being and fighting the best.

Got this info from one of my boys in the loop w/t RGBA. As you all know Brandon Lee & Jaron Ennis have been boys since they were both under the Cameron Dunkin promotional banner from what I’m told they’re still somewhat close. Anyhow, Brandon Lee joined the RGBA gym and made Robert Garcia his co-trainer along with his pops this past year. From what I’m told Lee has sparred Vergil a good amount of times in RGBA w/t Ortiz handling Lee rather easily and hurting him w/t gear on a number of occasions. Anyhow, from my source they’re whispers around the RGBA gym that Lee been telling Boots not to take the Vergil fight that he too strong and tough for him as Lee has sparred both of them multiple times. Take this for how you like but no doubt in my mind Lee been in Boots ear telling him to avoid Vergil at all cost.

Ennis was nothing like advertised… Dude’s defense was leakier than a woman on her period, while Bozy was ass on his corner. Honestly, don’t understand how this dude was hype up to be the next Roy Jones Jr. looked more like Jarrett Hurd 2.0. Man, if Eddie smart he’ll keep Boots away from 154 lbs and just keep him @ welterweight feeding on bums like he has throughout his career so far. Oscar doesn’t have many Champions besides Zurdo and Collazo but I argue Golden Boy’s stable is the most exciting in boxing. Most of their big names Munguia, Ryan, Vergil and Zepeda have a very fan friendly style. Add Conwell, Schofield, Bek the Bully and Duarte to the mix and you’re in for a fun night. Throw in some of their blue chip prospects like Joel Iriarte and Gael Cabrera both of whom are equally electrifying I’d say Oscar has built quite the thrilling and aesthetically pleasing roster for the fans. Hope DAZN gives Oscar a bigger budget next time around do enjoy watching Golden Boy’s stable.

Oscar needed that W last nite as much if not more than Ryan. BS aside, Golden Boy Promotions won big last nite. Ryan has instantly become a Top 3 cash cow after that win and without a doubt DAZN most valuable fighter. Oscar gain a huge amount of leverage against DAZN or any other platform he hasn’t had since Canelo was part of GBP. Upwards and Onwards for Golden Boy from this moment on Ryan made a lot new fans last nite which bolds well for Golden Boy.

Love it, Morrell will finally face a legit threat in Bek the Bully on the Munguia/Canelo card May 4th. Don’t care much for PBC or Canelo in all honesty but that’s a 50-50 fight in my book. This card is starting to shape up nicely FR

Gotta give the Golden Boy his flowers, man… Oscar been counted out multiple times throughout his promotional career 1st when Haymon stole 90% of his roster and 2nd when Hearn snaked Canelo from GBP. Fast forward to 2024 and Golden Boy Promotions are part of the two biggest events of early 2024 in Haney/Garcia and Canelo/Munguia while PBC appears to be on life support. Not here to dance on Haymon’s grave but to acknowledge Oscar’s ability to built stars in Canelo, Ryan and Munguia. Dude truly has the magic touch.

Anyone else notice the moves Golden Boy been making lately. They just signed Jose Ramirez, Arnold Barbosa and Charles Conwell in the last month or so. Now there the lead promoter for a big PPV in Garcia vs Haney @ the Barclay Center. Not to mention there’s rumors of Al Haymon only paying Canelo’s $35 mil guarantee if he fights Golden Boy fighter Munguia on Cinco de Mayo weekend… I think the rumors of Golden Boy’s demise where largely exaggerated.

The last few years DiBella Entertainment has loss some of their best fighters i.e. Jalolov, Conwell, Serrano, Foster to other promoters. Think the only shows he puts on now are on UFC fight pass and those are few and far between. Just wondering Lou been in the business a long time but it appears as if the sport has left him behind

Crossroads fight for both of them, neither have anything scheduled next. Uncle Al ain’t got the money to pay Swift to fight cherries any more. Anyhow, just saw an interview with Danny callin out Benn next @ 154 lbs much rather have Danny give Vergil that shot instead of a roided up bum like Benn. The Puerto Rico Vs Mexico rivalry always sells even though both Swift and Vergil where born in the US their linage comes from those countries. Who else is excited to see the 100% KO artista Vergil Ortiz back in action this Saturday? Fights don’t come better than Ortiz Vs Stanionis two Top 5 welterweights in their prime going at it are what dream matchups are made of. Honestly, expecting this to be a bloody war with Vergil breaking down Stanionis in the later rounds before KO’ing him.

Canelo, GGG are both gone. Ryan will most likely be sitting out his contract for the next couple of yrs and AJ is coming off consecutive loses. TBH, the one fighter that DAZN needs to back 110% is Vergil Ortiz no other fighter in Golden Boy or Matchroom stable has the talent nor fan friendly style to carry DAZN. The kid is must watch television with a 100% KO ratio and legit P4P talent. Plus, he got the biggest fanbase in boxing behind him with the Mexican & Mexican/American fans.

This is seriously bad news for Oscar and Co. as Vergil is the one fighter in Golden Boy stable that can become a P4P fighter. Hopkins, Oscar, and Eric better head over to Manny Robles gym ASAP and have a talk with Vergil to straighten whatever misunderstanding must of occurred. TBH, wouldn’t be surprised if that snake Mirigian is in Vergil’s ear telling him to sign with Top Rank or Matchroom .

According to ESPN Chava the earliest Vergil would be able to fight is mid July. Doubt, Stanionis would want to wait that long to fight this year, wouldn’t be surprise if Bud/Spence gets made next that both the WBA & WBO consolidate mandatory positions and order Stanionis to fight Rocha for the winner of Bud/Spence. TBH, don’t mine that fight think is a very solid scrap with Rocha having a legit shot at beating the Lithuanian

Who woulda thought? Golden Boy’s 2016 signing class is what’s keeping Oscar & Co. afloat in 2023. Back in 2016 Oscar signed Ryan, Vergil and Alexis Rocha to Golden Boy. Now fast fwd 7 years and those 3 are about to be in the biggest fights of their careers. First Ryan vs. Tank followed by Vergil vs. Stanionis in April and lastly the Rocha vs Crawford bout in late May. Oscar gets a lot of flack and deservedly so at times but can’t say the dude doesn’t know how to develop stars.

Here’s a few (realistic) PBC vs GBP bouts for the Tank/Ryan undercard I love to see in April: 1) William Zepeda vs Frank Martin - The WBA’s #2 vs #3 rank Lightweights would be an awesome co-main of two undefeated up and comers. 2) Lamont Roach vs Hector Garcia - Roach is the mandatory for Garcia’s WBA 130lbs belt. Decent championship fight that would compliment the entire card. 3) David Morrell vs Bek the Bully - Two of the best young 168 lbs in the game, would be a solid rumble.

What a shameful act by Showtime, they just showed the Ellis/Villa replay and go directly to the Tank/Garcia bout. Skipping completely over the Boots/Karen fight they still trying to keep that invisibility mystique on Boots name. Got a feeling this Boots fight gonna be harder to get than the Wilder fight where he got knock down early in his career.

A few things I noticed about Boots last nite where: 1)His inability to cut off the ring, Karen ran circles around him the entire fight 2)His lack of defense, Karen kept hitting him flush w/t that left hook all night 3)Inability to adapt and change game plans when something ain’t working, Boots was head hunting all night & kept swinging @ air more than once 4)Lack of conditioning, dude has never gone 12th rounds before so is understandable but still kid seem beat after the fight Again, not hating on the kid but if an unknown Euro able to push Ennis to his worst performance thus far don’t want to see what Bud or Spence do to him. Honestly, the kid needs a few more tuneups against solid opposition such as Mean Machine or Butaev caliber fighters before he fights for a belt.

Honestly, there’s no way Ortiz vs Stanionis can be a stinker. This is the type of fight I pay money to see on PPV two undefeated, about to hit their prime come forward fighters = Fireworks… Got both of them ranked on my Top 5 @ 147 lbs Vergil #3 & Stanionis #5 it’s rare to see two hungry young lions go at it this early in their careers. Wow, was really high on Espino for awhile and still think he can turn his career around but it won’t be with Matchroom. It appears Hearn dropped him after getting KO’d by Aaron Silva back in May of last yr. he no longer shows up as a Matchroom fighter on their site. The kid is still only 22 yrs old and trained by Robert Garcia Golden Boy prospects seem to be dwindling every yr could be a good move taking a flyer on Espino and see if he can reach his potential.

Ya’ll know who that is… no other than Jaron Ennis… Dude, bout to turn 26 yrs old this yr going into his 31st fight and yet again fighting another Euro can name Karen. I mean enough w/t these bums time for the kid or his team to step up his opposition i.e. Jamal James, Mean Machine or Butaev are all with Showtime why ain’t he fighting them instead of all these cans. :confused:
