He allegedly also had a nightclub incident not too long ago that also quietly "taken care of". From what I've heard from friends in Miami/Hialeah area that he has sort of an attitude problem and has been occasionally seen in the company of a rather "thug-like" looking homies. Hope he doesn't waste his career away.
Ok but please tell me one boxer who does not have at least one "thug like homie"
Just saying.
Yeah, but that's two recent arrest besides the previous domestic violence incident. That's how it usually all starts and the eventual outcome is well documented in the lives of many other fighters seen hanging with "bad" company. I hope he gets it together. Just saying.
Who's Ducking Who??
JUANMA DUCKED CABALLERO...JUANMA IS DUCKING GAMBOA....AND JUANMA WILL DUCK CONCEPCION....I SAID IT!!!!:boxing:
Ahhh... Ducking?? Arum controls Juanma and Gamboa and even Concepcion and they will fight one another when the Bobfather says so, then and ONLY then. As for Caba... who's he fought in the last couple of years to make look so "avoidable?? Moliter?? And a lucky split win over the unknown South African that was never publicized. Caba won't beat either of the three
I agree that it was got a relatively close BUT... the right fighter got the not, Bika. wouldn't mind seeing them go at it one mo' time. reminded me of those old club fights 'back in the day' at Sunnyside Garden and St. Nicks Arena.
he lives here in ridgewood/bk and owns a house and everything. and has a mansion in the DR. he was supposed to fight khan instead mckloskey fought him..get your facts straight.
Really?? hmmm...I find it hard to believe. With all his idleness he surely hasn't made enough to have all that and live off his earnings, especially with all the legal managerial and promotional tangles he's had and I believe a suspension or two along with it all. One of the most irresponsible fighters of his era. Mansion, houses... good life??? hmmmm... Well, good for him if it'a true. I just hope that his irresponsible butt isn't into anything ilegal. Wouldn't surprise me either.
Good information but lets keep it all the way real. Cotto never pushed for the Mayweather fight. Sure he said he was ready but I saw a video one time when he was asked whether or not he wanted to fight Floyd and Cotto said "I fights whoever my promoter puts in front of me". We also know that when Arum wanted Floyd to fight Margarito he said he would if he got 10MIL guarantees from Hatton and Cotto also 20MIL for Oscar but Arum declined and once Floyd left Arum, the Oscar fight happened. Bob Arum pretty much has been a stumbling block for his fighters against Floyd due to their salty split. I'm talking styles and if a prime undefeated Cotto went back and forth with Mosley at 36.
There is no way I believe Cotto would have beat Floyd even back then. I see Floyd mentally discouraging Cotto and out lasting him stamina wise and hitting him at will. Cotto's going to come out strong but once he sees Floyd is able to neutralize him, Cotto is going to dance back wards and try to regroup while Mayweather pushing forward. I'm pretty sure with this. Don't know why people are getting so emotional with this. I respect Cotto but stylistically, he was never able to beat Floyd in my opinion.
GRUSTLER Yes, I agree that Floyd defeats Cotto at any weight, I never said the contrary, you're not a ventriloquist so kindly refrain from trying to put words into my mouth, please dude. BUT.. I do have the interview where he says he's open for Mayweather. If you wish I will make time to dig it out of my collection and sent you a copy when I do. I have well over 10 thousand fights of all eras. If you're ever needing a certain fight or looking to trade then let me know. I believe it was after either the Zab or Mosley fights, not sure, I'll have to check. Right now I'm helping out in the Dulorme camp but I'll dig it out soon enough. Now, as for your comment, "Zab had Cotto in big trouble..." ahhh.. "BIG trouble"?? "BIG"?? Really?? hmmmm.... Yeah, Zab scored two good blows but... "BIG trouble"?? Aw' com'on man, gimmie a break. Watch it again. Peace!!
Some of you might've forgot that Cotto OKAYED a rematch vs Pac TWO yrs ago. Manny INSISTED that it had to be at 147Lbs. Cotto said that he would agree to 152Lbs. End of story.
Good job by the ref and assistant ref JCC, with that point deduction
You might be delusion-ally BIASED. The point deduction was BOGUS!! See the replay. How the heck can any competent ref call that INTENTIONAL??!!! The ref was trying to $eal the fight for Chavez Jr BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!
"Done at featherweight"? He might be DONE period! He might get passed Oquendo who himself is a "done" fighter himself. Actually it's Oquendo that has MORE to win than Gonzalez, after all Gonzalez is expected to win. An upset won't do much for Oquendo chances at another world title opportunity.
Does a win over Collazo qualify him for Floyd's next rival?? Of course not, BUT.. Floyd will cherry pick him regardless, for sure! The only reason he's not fighting Khan tonight was because of the fans outrage of his bogus poll.
@Saldana I agree. 90% of the TRUE fight fans didn't want it. I'm NOT a Floyd fan, I believe HE wanted Khan but the FANS didn't and let him know. Even Showtime advised Ellerbe to reconsider and they did. There were OTHER fighters that we would've preferred but Floyd conveniently narrowed it down to either Maidana or Khan. The rest is history. Khan & his fans are still obsessed.
Bulls***!!
HAHAHAHA!!! Alvarez WON'T fight the winner, that you can bet on. The WBC/Suliaman will think of something and/or create a new "Super Duper Emeritus Diamond Platinum" title for Canelo and then go back and RETROACTIVELY declare the winner of Angulo/Vanes the "regular" 154Lb Champ. Canelo and Chavez Jr will first fight each other before facing any TRUE top contender.
Yeah, it was a great fight between two generally unknown "little' fighters. I resived a great copy about a week after. If the encounter would've taken place on the undercard of a major PVV card it would've been even more popular due to the greater exposure. But... some reason I enjoyed the Rodriguez vs Wolak fight a tad more, maybe because I was watching it 'live', on TV.
AND... as for the mentioned Dick Tiger vs Frankie DePaula fight, I was there that night. I've been looking for a copy of that fight for years!!! Anyone?? Let me know, email me at: emorales109@yahoo.com
This was a bad fight for Cotto to take. Because if Margarito wins, it nullifies the whole plaster argument. I'm not saying that is the case, but the perception will be that plaster had nothing to do with the first fight. If Cotto wins, it strengthens the argument that plaster had an affect. It's the first outcome that looks bad.
No, if Cotto's loses it DOESN'T mean that Margo didn't cheat the first time. Actually, it ONLY means that Margo didn't cheat THIS time. But no, I'm not implying that he actually did. He brought all this doubt and shame upon himself in the Mosley fight. Sadly, whether he did or not, he'll be BRANDED and remembered as CHEAT for the rest of his life and not for his victories
"Not too classy considering that Vazquez gave Arce a great career opportunity"
:haha: thats a whole load of crap becaues we all know Vazquez is a 10 time belt holder a ATG and makes and breaks careers (Sarcasm)
Arce didnt need Vazquez
it was Vazquez who needed the opportunity to prove he was more the a blue chip prospect AND YOUR BOY DIDNT PASS THE TEST
Yeah, yeah, yeah, BUT.. it's STILL no reason for Arce to reneg on his word. Judging YOUR words of "logic" I can imagine that YOU live by the same code and have little regard for YOUR word as well. Anyway, that's the impression that YOU are giving us according to YOUR comment. Look man, Arce is truly a great fighter and the word 'coward' does not fit him, I will be the first to agree, exciting and fun to watch. Vazquez is rightfully pissed because Arce/manager just should've been more sincere, honest and kept their word or at least informed them. Wouldn't you be?? Oh... I guess not, I forgot that you think that reneging on your word is cool.
Khan loses to Peterson, beats Molina (who recently lost to wannabe Broner) then gets KO'd by Garcia then looks terrible squeaking by Diaz (who got blown away in three by Thurman) and defeats a worn OVER-played Collazo and we're supposed to want to see him vs Floyd??? Oh my Lord...
He should have called him a "backpeddler or a lier". Technically you can still be a coward (though, I dont believe this is the case).
Scenario: You win but realize the fighter you beat is a legitimate threat and may have the logic and or skill to adjust.
...I aslo dont get how people are making it out Like Arce destroyed WV2...it was a great fight, back and forth. WV2 could have easily been the winner as well.
with that said. i hope they fight again.
That was a good and objective comment Mr. Einstein. That's exactly where I was getting at. It was a great fight, some experts said it worthy of 'Fight of The Year" consideration. To dare say that Arce blew this kid away shows LACK of objective knowledge, plenty of idiotic hate and ugly prejudice. They BOTH put on a fantastic performance. Vazquez' inexperience was a major factor as he gassed out and Arce rose to the occasion once more. Props to him. Not cool about not keeping his word but we've already been through that, BUT trying to insinuate that Vazquez didn't deserve a rematch showing how hateful and narrow minded some "fans" really are.
Why should Khan waste his time on this "One Hit Wonder"? He's LOST to EVERY fairly decent opponent he's faced. Besides, the pay would be lousy compared to far more lucrative purses Khan can easily make.
I've known Rocky since his amateur days. A really great humble kid, a true gentleman, no doubt. As for this fight, both have leaky defenses. Siri has been down a few times but seems to be the sturdier of the two going down the stretch. I'm gong with Salido but I hope I'm wrong.
by the way, for the benefit of those that care, his trainers name is DON Saxby not DON House and this guy is awesome for those that know him,n u will soon find out that he will be the Roach killa....go to gleasons gym n meet him if u get the chance.. guzman is in good hands now,,TRUST me fans..
@boxing4u I don't doubt Don Saxby's capabilities. I once heard an old friend Edwin Viruet say something similar. BUT... can he motivate a very irresponsible Joan Guzman?? And even if he can, which is an accomplishment in itself, how good/effective will Guzman be as a welter?? Let's be honest, he wasn't looking all that good in his last fights, rather soft, slow and carrying very little punching power. Some seem to expect the old 122/126Lbs Guzman. That version no longer exsists.
Thought Floyd lost the 1st fight. Interestingly, the judges scored the 2nd fight CLOSER than they did the first one. hmmm.... They were going to give the 1st fight to Floyd regardless. He was with ARUM then.
