World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman says that new WBC Silver welterweight champion Amir Khan would be an excellent opponent for pound for pound best and Absolute WBC Champion Floyd Mayweather.

Mauricio was at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to see Khan step up a weight category to defeat Luis Collazo in stride, for this vacant title, knocking him down in the fourth and twice in the tenth. On his return to Mexico City Mauricio said:

"Amir Khan is a fighter who has been on top of the world several times. He has punch, determination, great boxing technique and he will definitely be a very good opponent for Floyd Mayweather."

Amir was very close to fighting Floyd, but was pipped at that post by Marcos Maidana, who earned his claim with a super win over Adrien Broner. Now that fight is concluded and with Amir's victory on the undercard his claim has the hallmark of renewed worth and legitimacy. And Amir's fisticuff finesse, as well as speed, are inticing dovetail factors for a hawkish ring war.

Mauricio explained: "Styles dictate the outcome of fights and I think Amir Khan is an excellent opponent for Floyd Mayweather."
