There seems to be a new Cold War brewing, between the WBC and WBO. The president of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Sulaiman, said the leader of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Francisco 'Paco' Valcárcel, was "rude" for declined to participate in a recent summit between the WBA, WBC and IBF in Cancun.
Valcarcel went to the social networks and wondering if the other three sanctioning bodies discussed the prospect of eliminating "silver, platinum, interim, regular" and other side titles.
"There was a meeting in good faith, goodwill. But if you chose not to participate then it's their problem for not being part of a good proactive and positive meeting. I am also sorry that after the meeting Valcárcel was trying to downplay the meeting, by saying if we discussed the titles of copper or silver. It is an attitude that is very low. I thought he was a person of greater class," Sulaiman said to Carlos Narvaez.
"The WBO has always been a different kind of organization. The WBO had even ranked a fighter when he was dead. He was dead and continued to rise in the rankings.
