For me he could have been an ATG but he isnt, The competition wasnt there for him and he left somethings too late in his career.
I agree.
Joe certainly has the talent and ability to be a true ATG but he's missed the boat. Once he'd wupped Eubank he should have had the big fights but a combination of lack of confidence, bad hands and wanker warren put paid to that. Now Joe has grown in confidence and stature it's all too late for him. There isn't a legacy fight out there for him, beating B Hop again won't give him that and neither would beating Dawson. Despite lacking real power I think he could and should be remembered as a true great but he lost the chance to prove it and there is nobody around now that will allow him to change it.
Check Calzaghe's stats and achievements. He holds a few records that won't be broken again as long as there's a sun in the sky.
'Fight again to seal his legacy' notion is flawed because no matter who he beats, he'll always have his critics.
That's what I said man :pat:
The top line was 3zillas quote
but i think he needs to fight again to seal his legacy.
As I've said before there ain't anybody around for him to fight to seal his legacy.
If he beats Chad Dawson then everybody will be saying after that Dawson was hype job who'd fought nobody just like they said about Lacy after that fight.
If he beats B Hop again it will just be another win against an old has been.
Face facts, there ain't a fighter out there at the mo that will allow him to 'seal his legacy'.
no one says that about kessler . . . some people will always talk shit. but people are talking it now becuase its really there to be said. his win over bhop it was a close SD and he was down and rjj was shot theres really no arguing that. joe has a big mouth if he an enzo are going to call themselves atg i think they should back it up.
So who do you think he should fight to 'seal his legacy', 3zilla?
Do you really think beating bhop again will add to his legacy?
Do you think beating Dawson will add to his legacy?
Or do you have someone else in mind?
I don't even know how its considered an upset if paulie wins, I consider it an upset if Pauli loses to hatton
Well it's an upset on the oddsline as Ricky is a 4/9 favourite (UK books - no idea on the US oddsline). That said, if it goes the distance I reckon Paulie outpoints him. We'll see how much power & fitness Ricky comes in with to keep banging in those body shots he'll need.
I don't think Hatton is/was overrated, I don't think losing Floyd was any disgrace.
I have got bad vibes about tomorrow though, I think he needs to put Paulie away cos if it goes the distance I reckon Paulie outpoints him.
Calzaghe would go down a long way in my estimation if he takes this fight. It was so one-sided that a rematch shouldn't even be discussed.
If, as Calzaghe says, he's not interested in the money there is no reason to take the fight unless Roy has a cast iron legal rematch clause in the original contract that he intends to pursue.
I don't think there is a fight out there for Joe but if he insists on another it can only be Dawson or Bhop again.
Some of the comments on this thread are a joke. Turn the clock back substitute the name Lacey for Dawson and it's deja-vu.
Joe would get no credit at all if he took Dawson apart, the same people bulling him up now would be back after saying he was a nobody...just like Lacey.
Face it, Joe has missed the boat for a real legacy fight, there ain't no-one around now who could give him that.
