wow i can't believe people think his resume is better than Joe Calzaghe's
i know you American's might not recognise a lot of the names and haven't followed his career until recently, but it unquestionable that the standard of opposition of Joe's resume is, overall, a league above that of Ricky's in my eyes... i'm talking about all the fighters Joe defended his belts against too, not just the big names
top names on Calzaghe's resume vs top names on Ricky's resume:
- old but able B-Hop
- shot Roy Jones Jr
- prime Kessler
- old but potentially dangerous Eubank
- promising title holder Jeff Lacy
(all comprehensive victories apart from the B-Hop fight)
vs
- Floyd Mayweather Jr (bad LOSS)
- old and pretty much past it Kostya Tszyu
pretty clear that Calzaghe's ahead there if you look at it objectively
- and Robin Reid and Collazo are both borderline top guys, and both fighters struggled against their respective opponents, so no points scored there
and then the rest:
- Charles Brewer, Byron Mitchell, Mario Veit x2, Kabary Salem, Richie Woodhall (pretty good actually - although was knocking on a bit when Joe fought him), Evans Ashira, Sakio Bika
all solid opponents that bulk up his resume... it takes a very good fighter to get through that rabble unscratched
vs
- Carlos Maussa, a shot Jose Luis Castillo, Juan Lazcano, Ben Tackie, ermmmm Urango?
and there's the solid opponents that bulk up Ricky's resume... tell me if i missed someone
an objective person could clearly see Joe's resume is solid. no it's not on the level of someone like B-Hop or DLH's but it's respectable nevertheless... and they could also see it's far superior to Ricky's
when Ricky faced a fellow elite fighter in Mayweather, he was destroyed. the argument that "he lost to the #1 p4p, there's no shame in that" is flawed, as he didn't just get beat, he looked as if he didn't deserve to be in the same arena as Floyd, let alone the same ring
Can I point you in the direction of youtube: Please type in Tszyu Vs Mitchell 2.
when you have finished watching a top 5 140lb boxer ripped to shreads by Tszyu then hop over to Boxrec (since thats your sole source of knowledge) and look up the date.
hatton may be overrated by some, but he's still the lt. welterweight champ.
35 year old Tszyu coming off 26 month lay off and never fought again after Hatton.

I don't think Hatton is/was overrated, I don't think losing Floyd was any disgrace.
I have got bad vibes about tomorrow though, I think he needs to put Paulie away cos if it goes the distance I reckon Paulie outpoints him.
35 YO Tszyu > 43 YO Hopkins.
35 year old Tszyu coming off 26 month lay off and never fought again after Hatton.
vs
43 year old Hopkins who held consecutive wins over Light Heavyweight Champion Antonio Tarver and Top 3 P4per Winky Wright and went on to beat top 6 P4p Kelly Pavlik.
ricky's resume is better than joe's.
joe might be undefeated but at least ricky has the balls to fight good opposition.
Bernard Hopkins > Anything on Hatton's resume including Hatton himself.
his resume is terrible, and he's just not that skilled for an elite fighter
To be fair it's almost impossible to have a good resume when you fight for Warren, he's the worst promoter in the world bar none.
I think he is skilled maybe not elite skilled but he has other qualities that make him an elite fighter.
He's borderline p4p top ten and i can't really see a present 140 fighter who's capable of beating him, although a few might push him close.
I've seen a few threads the last week that try and make him out to be shot based on 30 seconds in his last fight, but honestly i don't see many shiot fighter dominating fights the way hatton dominated Lazcano.
Lazcano isn't a great fighter but he's not a bum either.
of course he's overrated lol
i thought it was common knowledge that he's pretty much just a cash cow
his resume is terrible, and he's just not that skilled for an elite fighter
and please note that overrated does not necessarily equal total shit
how did amir khan with only 19 fights get so famous anyway?, not to mention the opponent that ko'd him also with an undefeated record is unknown
Well, the first bit was sarcasm and the second bit was about Ricky Hatton..
Amir Khan was one of the prospects from the '04 olympics (media hype from the word go), turned pro after the olympics, started getting fights on terrestrial TV..which is why he is probably so 'famous', since the average joe saw him fight 18 fights on TV (on one of the 3 main UK channels) and since he was fighting bums, the average joe that dosen't have any boxing knowlege sees Amir Khan as someone that has beat 18 people so they assume hes the best boxer in the world..so basically hes hyped up by people with no boxing knowlege.
he's not overrated.
his fans see him for what he is.
he's a good fighter with a good resume who has fought and willing to fight other good fighters.
his fans come out to support him NOT because they think he's the greatest but because they love his personality and love watching him fight.
ricky has some of the best fans in the world.
they also don't go out there claiming he's the greatest. unlike fans of another british fighter who IS way overrated.
Amir Khan gonna' be world champ within the year yo'
Seriouslythough, he isn't over rated, he's been beat by the best, i admit hes slackin' a bit in his old age, but you can't say he's over rated because he's coming to the end of his career and dosen't seem as good as he was a few years ago.
