The size advantage is just too great. Marciano only has a chance if it is a Haye vs Valuev scenario but Tyson is no Nikolai Valuev and is too long, mobile and cagey to lose to Marciano. The 15 rounds and heat in the arena would be an issue with many big fighters but Fury's herky jerky style causes his opponent to expend more energy than he does especially when he is only flicking out his jab a few times a round.
Imagine Tua sitting down to watch tv and seeing title bouts between John Ruiz and Fres Oquendo or Oleg Maskaev vs Hasim Rahim and telling others I beat him... and him.. and him. But I am watching these guys on tv fighting each other for titles.
Such a shame about David Tua. He is certainly up there in the conversation with the best never. Great workmate, huge power, phenomenal left hook and a fantastic chin.
He probably would have achieved much more if it wasn't for Kevin Barry and all the financial shenanigans that derailed his career and ended up in court. He certainly would have had much more in his pockets. Very sad story and unfortunately it is all too common in boxing.
Thanks for the clip, very interesting. I haven't been impressed by Hrgovic yet and he almost looked more fluid in this short clip than he has so far. I'd like to see Hrgovic fight someone like Chisora, Bakole or even Joseph Parker. These fights should be fairly easy to make and would give us a sense of where he is.
Edwin Valero? Former WBC lightweight champion “El Terminator” Edwin Valero committed suicide in his Venezuelan prison cell.
Valero, established a world record by winning his first 18 prizefights by first round knockout, was forced by court orders to seek help after he was taken into custody on charges that he harassed his wife and threatened medical personnel who treated her in a hospital.
Edwin Valero was a great boxing talent who, with the proper mindset, could have become one of the greatest pound-for-pound pugilists in the history of the sport.
Regrettably, Edwin Valero instead was a repugnant individual who descended into a cold-blooded killer.
Valero is a fascinating character. The motorbike accident he had as a teenager possibly had an impact on his behaviour as he wasn't wearing a helmet and probably had a brain injury as a result.
They should make an English language film about his life. They made a film in Venezuela called El Inca that was the first Venezuelan film to be banned in the cinemas.
DAZN is losing money, of course it is. However they always knew it would lose money for years and Blavatnik has some of the deepest pockets around. They were expanding a few weeks ago and now people are cheering that they are supposedly collapsing because they are trying to raise money? Some people are just odd. Once they raise some money it serves to place a valuation on the company, widens the shareholder base and adds credibility to the story of the company. They may have struggled to get money at the valuation they wanted and haven't accepted any low ball offers but this is also a show of strength as they have the ability to fund it themselves.
I really shouldn't be interested in this but I am. Manny is ridiculous at his age at these weights to be even involved in a conversation never mind it being considered a close fight against one of the best who is 10 years younger than him.
Keep in mind that statement was a JOINT statement from UKAD and Whyte's legal team. It had to be approved by both.
The possibility of contamination was accepted because of his VADA tests. Hearn himself said the VADA tests were a huge part of the evidence to exonerate Whyte and that without the VADA tests he would have been in real trouble. The VADA tests are what got him off.
Those levels were actually HIGHER than the metabolite levels of the banned substance found in Canelo, who got banned.
Whyte was represented by the same lawyer who got Tyson Fury off and nearly bankrupted UKAD from their legal battle.
A few reporters wrote about this, that UKAD was in fear that Whyte would also bankrupt them - because his lawyers threatened that if they prove Whyte ingested something contaminated then they would sue for all of the paydays he missed out on.
Sounds a lot like rumour and conjecture from reporters to me. The UKAD bankruptcy theory is a red herring and as I said in another post was just UKAD's vocal begging bowl as the UK government approached the end of a review into their funding. It was an alarmist but ultimately successful tactic that ensured they were granted a further £6.1m in funding over two years. Remember Tyson was ultimately banned for 2 years. They didn't back down from him, they banned him, and however it happened and however much he has spun the story he was out of the ring for 2 years.
I'm confused that you are talking about higher levels of metabolites of a different substance than Canelo whilst also referencing and acknowledging the existence of other contemporaneous VADA tests that conclusively prove that no matter how low the metabolites reportedly in a sample could not have been there due to any form of doping. You say that the VADA tests got him off and that is likely to be true. Were these fake tests or were they part of his proof of innocence? This was the outcome of an extensive investigation by UKAD which is ultimately operating under the almost unlimited resources of not only the UK Government but also WADA.
Effectively you would seemingly rather believe journalistic rumour and subscribe to fanciful international conspiracy theories or threat and corruption than accept that the extensive investigation by UKAD found that not only was he innocent but that also they didn't even have enough to charge him. On the contrary they had conclusive evidence to exonerate him based on the burden of him proving his innocence - which he did.
When exactly did Tyson duck Rivas? I doubt you'd ever heard of him before Eddie announced him as an opponent lol.
What exactly makes Rivas a good win? Who's he beaten? Jennings? He was losing that fight until getting a late stoppage and Jennings was never any good to begin with.
You Matchroom boys are all the same, any Matchroom fighter opponent automatically becomes a top 10 fighter after they lose lol.
Wallin isn't a bum either, he's a 6ft5 southpaw with decent skills & heart, he'd beat Wach every day of the week and I'd fancy him to beat Rivas as well. Rivas is a small, basic, muscled up stiff.
How exactly do you think Whyte can beat Tyson Fury? It's not even like he's much of a bigger puncher, Fury has a higher KO%
Fury ducked Rivas and the excuse was because he wanted to fight taller fighters.

Oh, OK so when Wilder beats Ortiz it's a fantastic win because Ortiz has such a great resume. Erm, his best win is Bryant Jennings.
So Rivas is a bum but Wallin is credible? Wallin's best win was against Adrian Granat but somehow he is this dangerous unbeaten prospect like Tom Schwartz was? The only thing that made them dangerous was that they were facing Tyson Fury. They may as well have been Mark de More and Arnold Gjergjaj.
Fury will be at a psychological deficit against Whyte as he knows that Whyte can and has hurt him many times in the past. People that say sparring doesn't matter are clueless. Tyson puts a huge amount of emphasis on an imaginary battle in the sauna against Klitschko and will know that Whyte has his number and he will not be able to intimidate him or win the psychological battle he lost years ago.
Whyte will pressure Fury and will hurt him with body shots and stop him in the middle rounds.
This fight isn't gonna happen without a decent live gate and, realistically, that's still some way off.
I was wondering the same thing. There may be a window before any second wave this winter but I doubt they will take the risk.
Thinking it’s to late
And you can probably make it 4 with his next BIG fight against Lucas
Smfh
You might be right. The Browne fight should have happened three years ago. He has been horribly managed and it's a shame as he seems like a good guy.
You care enough to comment. xxx
But I agree he horribly mismanaged.
Hes been a world champion, so a bit more than a contender.
Only man to go toe to toe with Ruiz and win. Something AJ failed spectacularly trying to do.
I guess Whyte only has time for the big names like 40 year old Wach, and midget nobody Rivas.
Thanks for the sloppy kisses, but save them for Joseph. It is odd that you equate caring to whether or not somebody comments on a boxer as you pathetically shoehorn comments about Dillian Whyte into every thread.
It is true that neither Wach nor Rivas would face Winters, Flores or Leapai. That is because they have self-respect and are well managed unlike Parker who is a lion being led by a mouse of a man with a misplaced ego who is leeching off Parker and is desperate to avoid a third loss which is why they pulled out of the Chisora fight because otherwise his manager wouldn't be able to maintain the lifestyle that Jospeh is paying for. I am however pleased that you actually accept that Parker has been horribly mismanaged.
Whyte pretending to want a title shot again.
Any true top 10 fighter KOs this loud mouth hype job.
Tut, tut, tut, even his biggest fanboy doesn't think Parker is even close to being top ten and this is even sadder considering Parker was dropped twice by Whyte. Imagine being dropped twice and losing to a bum like Whyte who apparently refuses to take hard fights and only wants easy fights like Parker. Doesn't make Joseph look good does it?
It gets much worse when you consider that since Whyte beat Parker they have both had three fights. 2 of Parker's opponents were outside the top 150 and two of Whyte's opponents were inside the top 15.
Oh, and he lost to Ruiz.
I'm just very glad you have nothing to do with managing fighters because you really aren't very good at this boxing lark.
I thought that was the fight he got suspended for?
No, Molina was suspended after his fight with Joshua. So was actually suspended for 2 years but just carried on fighting for the title and other fights all whilst under a PED suspension.
The Edwards brothers just aren't likeable, won't sell tickets and won't get people to watch. Apparently Charlie felt like he was taken for granted by Hearn. He over achieved and then embarrassed himself with his faking against Martinez and was too scared to rematch him.
Rivas? Oh I'm sure Fury lost a LOT of sleep worrying about a 6'0" heavyweight. What are you smoking? Whatever the strain you would make a fortune selling it. You and 1hourBum must be cousins?
The fact is that Tyson ducked Rivas who was far more credible than Tom Schwarz etc. Rivas was top ranked across all four ranking bodies not just one like Schwarz.
It is true that he turned down a fight with Bakole though. This is just bluster from Sauerlands. He could have fought Bakole but thought he was too much of a risk so if he would fight AJ without hesitation, as long as the therms were right, he is basically saying that he is prepared to sell his 0 but not prepared to risk it against lesser known opposition. Will be very interesting to see who Hrgovic fights next. If it is a complete no-hoper like Shawndell Winters then it is clear for all to see that he is just being kept safe until his unbeaten record is sold to the highest bidder.
Anyway Wallin could arguably have been DQ'd for deliberately pawing at the cut after the ref called break.
I agree that Wallin was pawing at the cut and not just after the break and the ref could have been much tougher with him. I am glad it wasn't stopped on the cut as well.
What kind of boogeyman goes the distance with a 40 year old guy a few fights removed from getting KTFO by a newbie with only 12 fights?
You CANT be a boogeyman if you're wrestling around in the mud with Mariusz Wach, the same Wach that got his clocked cleaned in 8 rounds by that household name we all know and love, Martin Bakole.
Fuque outta here with that bullshyt.
Whyte will wait his damn turn.
Aint nobody begging to see his worthless hide get worked anyway.
So an out of shape Whyte is a fraud but an out of shape Fury is a hero. Look at the way Fury, when he was in shape, struggled with Otto Wallin. He should have been stopped on that cut and 100% Wallin would have been stopped with the same cut. People have off nights and bad fights. Whyte was a fat mess and should not have been in the ring at all against Wach. He has waited his turn and waited other peoples turns as well.
Totally agree
I’d rather he fight one of the up and coming lions
He’ll get more respect and much more leverage for a big fight imo
They will announce that he has a fight with an unbeaten prospect who is a huge star and then it turns out to be the ghost of Sonny Bill Williams.
What that means, is that something Whyte came in contact with was contaminated (drink, food, supplement, etc), not the sample itself. Basically they are trying to say they accepted his explanation that he didn't knowingly take something.
Saying the sample was contaminated would raise far bigger questions on how an illegal steroid came in contact with his sample at the UKAD lab, and what was an illegal steroid doing there in the first place.
I understand what you are saying but under strict liability the contamination of a supplement would still have been a fail and then they would have a hearing to look at mitigating factors to reduce the ban from the normal tariff. It seems clear that there was never any substance in his system which is why the statement was put out like that by UKAD and why there were no charges. You have to remember that the statement mentions other tests that were done at the same time and basically it must have been impossible for any metabolites to have come from Whyte due to the levels etc.
This is a joke. All Luke Campbell does is lose title fights and then gets another one for no good god damn reason. Fortuna is the Mandatory he and his team need to speak up unless he’s okay with Haney beating Campbell then fighting Haney in December.
They probably should have stuck to the plan of having Campbell fight Fortuna for the interim in Hearn's back garden with the next fight vs Haney in December which would give him plenty of time to recover.
That still doesn't tell us anything about how Whyte's sample came to be contaminated with Dianabol.
UKAD is clearing him without offering a plausible explanation for how this happened. That's what a lot of people have a problem with.
Look at it this way. UKAD operate under strict liability and anyone has to prove their innocence and UKAD don't have to prove guilt at all. He must have been 100% innocent otherwise they would have charged him under their strict liability rules. It tells you that UKAD were completely convinced that Whyte had nothing to do with any trace of anything as they said so themselves. They never normally comment on cases like these at all and only did so in this case because some information was leaked.
