If it goes the distance, I can definitely see Canelo getting the nod, regardless if he deserved it or not. He's the bigger upside in terms of PPV potential and has the age to keep it that way for a longer period of time.
Possibility...
Pacquiao beats Thurman. Pacquiao's stock goes up.
Then Pacquiao is fed and loses to Spence. Spence's stock and more importantly, his popularity goes up.
This sets up an even bigger purse for Spence vs Crawford.
All business
Khan is an idiot for not seeing the irony.
Brook is retarted for trying to jump into a big fight after an injury. I agree with khan that he needs a tune up to make sure he's OK. He just looks desperate right now.
Murray fought bravely! He had great moments when engaging GGG in the middle of the ring.
GGG looked pissed after rounds 4-5. He probably wanted to really KO Murray under 2 rounds or something. LOL
Extremely close fight. Could have gone either way.
But fight was all business. Loma is entering the twilight of his career, while Devin is entering his prime star status. Top Rank is choosing the fighter than can get them the most money. They will continue to groom Haney and then feed him to the wolves with Tank or Shakur for a big payday.
Notice how this fraud is scared to mention crawford's name?! He's after a 40 plus year old pacquiao like that fight would mean sh** lol...hey spency stop ducking crawford..spence is always talking about Bud like he was his friend so he has an excuse not to fight him.
I don't think he's ducking him tbh. I believe the fight will happen at some point. It's being milked like other big name fights of the past. Spence is taking advantage of what he has. They're both under the same banner. And at the moment, Pacquiao is still near the top or AT the top of providing substantial financial purses. So not only will Spence be receiving his biggest payday, he will add the biggest name to his resume and propel his name further into mainstream households if he beats Pacquiao.
Teofimo acting like a damn diva right now. Dude fought nobody's before Loma.
Loma gave him the opportunity and won. All of a sudden, his balls went to his brain and acting like he fought everyone in the top and everyone has to go through the same to get to him. GTFOH with that diva ****. He's scared.
I think you misread, because I in no way thought Abel was saying that based on the title. I read the title and thought Abel was talking about the exact moment it was stopped in the fifth and sure enough it was about the exact moment it was stopped in the fifth.
Hey, I can't argue with you there. I DEFINITELY misread it. :)
Forget May. They should fight on July 4th(falls on a Saturday). Call the fight "Fireworks" and purposely have Manny/Floyd use Katy Perry's song Fireworks as their entrance music. LOLOLOLOL
yeah right. Dude looks like he feel asleep camping and got bit by some mosquitoes. This is not the face of a man who fought the biggest puncher in the sport.
No, he's right. GGG rearranged his face. You don't see it cause of the Photoshop, but both his eyes looked the same as Berto after the Guerrero fight.
Yup, Jacobs pretty much had it right.
Just protecting GGG for the ever-so-lucrative match-up with Canelo.
If anything, Jacobs laid out a decent blueprint on how to frustrate and maybe even beat GGG.
Not true. This was the last fight of Haney's Top Rank contract. They wanted Loma to win, so he could be fed to Shakur. There is zero guarantee Haney will fight Shakur, as both would want a ton of money and now TR has zero leverage to force that fight as Haney could simply go back to Hearn or go to PBC
Ahhh, I didn't know this was his final contracted fight. I stand corrected!
Still a great fight that could have went right way.
Horrible news. Shame on the referre and trainer for letting it go that long. He clearly didn't have a chance for a KO it was just a sensless sustained beating.
My condolences to his family. Sad day for boxing.
And that's the thing. I didn't even watch the fight but I shouldn't have needed to.
The referee and the trainer are fully responsible for the health of the fighters in the ring. There is no shame in stopping the fight in the event one of them realizes one of the fighters are in danger of their health.
For those who watched it, what was Maxim's condition prior to the KO?
Yea, gotta give it to Amir. I had him losing this fight, but the man had balls and rose to the occasion to fight Canelo. And after what Canelo said, he has to put the money where his mouth is and step up and fight GGG.
I'm worried, but not too worried about him losing the rest of the weight. The article did say he weighed more for the 30-day weigh-in for the trout fight. Now granted, he does have to lose an extra 1.5 lbs from his last fight, but now that he hired a nutritionist, I think hes on track to get to 152 safely and not feel weak.
GGG loses to Ward at 168, he'd be outclassed and outboxed.
GGG loses to Floyd at 154, he'd be drained, outclassed and outboxed.
This.
GGG is no where near ready for Mayweather or Ward. Aside from Macklin, his resume consists of bums just like Canelo. The only legit win from Canelo was Trout IMO and that didnt do $h1t to prepare him for Floyd. Even if they met in between at a catch weight of 157, I still see Floyd whooping GGG. Defense always wins games, no matter the sport. And with boxing, Floyd's the best south of 160 and Wards the best north of 160.
He was looking for a big fight and got offered $13million, of course he was going to take it. He was always going to get knocked out.
The guy blatantly ducking Brook shouldn't be talking about other fighters.
I dont doubt that both are possibly dodging fighters. But financially, no one else could have offered more money for either.
But at least Khan had the balls to go up in weight rather than forcing canelo to drop down at a much lower catch-weight.
Floyd is smart for taking this fight while Canelo is still quite green.
UD Mayweather 116-112
Yea I agree, but at the same time, something had to give.
If Mayweather hypothetically fought canelo as his 5th and last fight possibly 2 years from now, he may be leaning past his prime whereas canelo would be peaking towards it.
Either way, I think it'll be a good fight.
The problem is that everyone says they love being the underdog. And against Mayweather, EVERYONE has been an underdog and the outcome has been the same. I will be pulling for Pacquiao but this is a whole new ballgame. He will need to prepare for a whole alphabet plan against Floyd.
This time last year Brook was a bum with a padded record. Puts on a good show vs Porter and suddenly hes an ATG according to some lol. Interesting fight though.
This.
Although I disagree that some call him an ATG, it looks as though people are jumping on the bandwagon a bit too soon after he beat Porter. Very solid win, don't get me wrong, but Bradley is a whole other animal. His resume is 5 times better and a much more experienced boxer. If this match were to happen, I'd have Bradley winning it via UD.
They all look great but I've always had a problem with Ward's body proportions/physique.
Like.....his head looks like it's age, but his body is stuck in a 13 year old lifeguard.
All this talk of Crawford KOing Porter......
My take is that this fight will go the distance and will be the 2nd unanimous loss for Porter since Thurman.
Had it a draw. And these guys are closet but buddies. In the end, Broner is doing what he does best and talk ***** just to money hype a 2nd fight and stay relevant.
