The first 3 and last 3 rounds could easily be Bradley's. Announcers, plus fan noise played a role in people's view of this one. Too many rounds manny wasn't busy and would flurry for 30-40 seconds, fans go bananas, lederman scores to many. Look at bradleys face, he was able to slip a lot of punches that were being scored by compubox as landed.
Brother, don't do it. Don't make it seem like the fight was close (or like some of the rounds could have gone either way)! Timmy fought his heart out and never gave up, but he didn't win more than a round or two.
If you look at the fight again with the volume off and dont pay attention to the score cards hbo thinks. you can give the first two rounds to bradley and the last three. you give manny rounds 4-6 and 8. rounds 3,7,9 could have gone either way. So you have bradley with 5 clear won rounds vs manny with four and three up for grabs. So I think in my eyes, just like the judges. I think it was a fair win. Not a robbery!! And I personally think bradley won the first three and last four.
Looking at the fight more than onnce is not how a fight is supposed to be scored. You have to score it based on your first reaction! Are you gonna sit here and say that you had Timmy up on your scorecard right after the fight finished? I saw the fight at a casino with no sound and only managed to give Tim one round! One round!!!
You'd hope Mikkel has the class and balls to venture to England for the bout seeing how Froch went to Denmark for the first fight.
Either way, I hope it gets done.
Don't confuse "class and balls" with stupidity! Dirrell got robbed blindly against Froch in England (in a bout that was somewhat close but absolutely decisive). If Kessler goes to England, he'll need nothing short of a KO/TKO in order to win. Also, Froch didn't go to Denmark very cooperatively. If I remember correctly, Froch was threatened with a lawsuit by Showtime for threatening not to fight in Denmark!!!
How can you not like andre ward?
Ward seems to be a genuinely good guy; however, he is a bit boring to watch. I think that's what most people mean when they say they want Ward to lose. At least that's what I think. On the flip side, though, besides that devastating power AA seems to have, he's a pretty boring fighter himself. He simply doesn't open up enough.
translation = roids can only do so much.
WTF??? Nonito is one of the few fighters enrolled in VADA's 24/7/365 program. If there is anybody who is less likely to be on PEDs it's Nonito Donaire!!!
Khan and Nacho Berstein would be a great combo. Khan has a lot of skills and he should be a boxer first. Berstein would correct a lot of flaws Khan has. I don't like how Khan is looking with the new trainer.
There's not much Berinstein would be able to do for Khan. Khan is very flawed (technically speaking), fights like an amateur, and has a very bad chin; however he's very athletic and has a lot of heart!
The only personal problem this guy has is that he can't make 126 and 130 lbs. anymore!!! He had a mediocre run at 135 and will continue to fail at 140! Fact is, he has no power above 130 in order to keep guys off of him.
Soto is not a three-division word champion. He's only won belts at 130 and 135 lbs. The 126 lbs. belt was an interim belt. It doesn't count. Please correct your mistake writer!!!
How did you find out the attendance number? Did you read that somewhere? The commentators kept saying 54k people but contrary to what they were saying, they weren't even there. I think they were calling the fights from a production room in the US.
In response, I would like to say that 1) he asked for the test, that says enuff right there, he was not given any performance enhansing drug, it was a medical procedure because in contact sports you lose more testasterone than a normal person (fact) stop being sheeple people - its like we are back in the Salem Witch hunt days - people take these types of drugs normally for recouperation purposes to heal nagging injuries and to help with the rigors of training. Lamont peterson is from the streets literally !! he does not have the education that most of you keyboard thugs posses, he does have an opportunity to make some good $ with which he would have never had the opportunity unless he turned back to the streets. Let the man's team present the facts to other educated people so they can make a good educated decision on his career and not be swayed by extreme thinkers who jump from one bandwagon to the next. Oh this and oh that - I hate that the WBA still calls him their champion blah blah blah - this is one of the hardest jobs / sports on the planet, this man has been doing this since the age of 9 !! Its like you are at a University and get accused of cheating or plagerism, but you know you did not do either. That is when you fight for your case infront of other educated people so they can hear the facts and make a good educated decision - this is what we have here .....
You think what you want to think. The rest of us will not be fooled by a doubt-casting lawyer. At the end of the day, the only fact that matters is that Lamont and his team were asked before the Amir Khan fight if he had recently taken "any" kind of drug or medicine (that he had never taken before) and they said no!!! They said NO!
The man is dead and deserves tribute.
The media cant tell me nothing, what they say goes in one ear, and out the other, i dont trust the media. Maybe there was a conspiracy against Valero, who the fukk knows, except him, his wife and God?
My only beef wit this is that his wife deserves tribute too!
I respect the dead, but thas just me
XOXO Sir Jabs-a-lot :boxing:
You make a good point in regards to the media; especially in a communist country. However, Valero's actions and problems were known long before his death or murder/suicide. His family were very scared of him, and by family I don't just speak of his wife and kids, but his mother and uncles as well. Not too long before his death, there was an article here on BS that quoted an uncle, or somebody else, I can't remember who, saying that Valero was completely out of control and that the authorities did nothing to him because of his close ties to President Hugo Chavez... On a side note, I found it a bit odd that he was able to commit suicide in jail (with his shirt, no less); however, what I didn't find odd or saw as far-fetched was when I heard he murdered his wife. And to me, that deserves no tribute!
In his prime and at 122 - 130 lbs., Guzman was very good. Now, at age 35 and fighting at 140 lbs., I wonder. Matched correctly he'll do ok. Matched with the elite, I doubt he'll have the power to keep them off of him.
We all know this is extrememly doubtful. Gomez is a solid fighter but has already proven to be ineffective above welterweight. I see Jr. TKO'ing him late.
This guy is the second coming of Panchito Bojado, except that Panchito was a lot better thann Gomez. As a matter of fact, I've never thought Gomez was anything special. He seems like a fighter with very average technique and MAYBE slightly above above average power; maybe.
sorry to disappoint fellas, but broner would beat this guy. he's growing, learning & perfecting his skill. the best chance against broner is when he's young & green......once he grows you have performances like his last 2 fights.
also takashi is 32 years of age, a 22 year old broner has fought tougher competition @ this point............
broner picks this guy apart..............
Sorry to disappoint you but Broner got beat by Ponce and his last two opponents were very weak. Broner is the US version of Saul Alvarez: both good fighters but fighters who have been moved very well and practically given their belts. Now if Broner beats Perez in his next title defense, then that would be his first win against quality opposition!
I am Puertorican but I have to say that Juanma is not the same fighter. I have not seemed a resilient Juana that used to be boxing and giving his foes a bad night. I do understand that he is having problems within his family. However, a good fighter should focus in his mistakes therefore he could make a better fight. My opinion is that Juanma should retire or he should change his trainer. Salido is a good fighter and I will strongly recommend him to stay as featherweight champion and strongly defend his title. :boxing:
I thought Juan looked as good as he can get. And physically, he looked and proved to be in great shape (there's no way a fighter can go through that without being in tip top shape). It may be that Salido simply has the style to beat him... Either way, they are both warriors and should both take a long, long rest before they even think about stepping into a ring again. Great fight. The best I've seen in a while!
Can he? Marquez wouldve been a PPV fight, at Cowboy Stadium. Winner gets Pacquiao.
Actually, the Kahn fight will also be PPV - in England! Also, not only will Lamont get 50% of the PPV share, he'll also get 50% of the HBO licensing fee. That's a good chunk of cash if you ask me.
This is a great fight IMO. I would love to see this on an undercard of a big/semi-big fight; or as the main event on ShoBox. As of yet, Brook is untested; however, that doesn't mean he doesn't have the goods. As for Jones, he has been tested various times; sometimes passing, sometimes falling a bit short. However, the fact that as of late he's been showing great improvement suggests that he's really coming into his own.
Phucken guys. Have they ever heard of a cross-bar headhear? Who knows when he'll get another title shot! Raul is 29 years old already and has failed to acquire a title yet. He really was a standout amateur and is a very solid pro; the train is passing him by!!!
