It was Calzaghe himself who actually went out of his way to avoid elite fighters. Like Glen Johnson for example and Tarver called him out relentlessly and Warren from what I understand was willing to make those fights and Calzaghe wasn't having it. The Johnson fight was scheduled, but when a guy pulls out on numerous occasions one of those injuries have got to be fake. To be fair Hopkins backed out of the deal with Joe and I give Cal the benefit of the doubt on that somewhat.
I think the deal with a prime Roy Jones was a case of both of them not wanting to fight each other to be fair. But Calzaghe definitely made a blatant case of admitting he didn't want the fight.
Now when I see Warren matching his fighters up with guys like Katsidis and Tszyu I don't necessarily view those fighters on the level of Pudwill. So why did it take so long for Calzgahe to step up? Hatton wasn't that protected before the Tszyu because he fought Vince Phillips who had a win over Kosta.
Calzaghe went out of his way not to fight the best basically is what I'm trying to say.
Lolz you took the Warren bait.
There have been many great British fighters over the years such as Lewis and calzaghe, and many Hof skilled fighters such as Hamed. While this is the case it bothers me how hyped some terrible fighters out of Britain have been. We saw khan get blitzed by a bum, froch outboxed twice on a row once to a green fighter with no prior championship experience, and once to a shot fighter. Now we witnessed the prompt destruction of yet another Brit who was being hyped as the next best thing out of Britain. There have been many great British fighters, and there will be more, but please quit hyping unproven fighters with no world class experience at alll.
For some reason I thought you were better than posting up something like this.
Which users were saying Mitchell was the best thing since sliced bread?
True story, Red brother. Always nice to see a smart Briton in this.
If he is from North London or from any part of England apart from south west he is not a Briton.
A Briton has celtic heritage, just to let you know.
I' there are still some Brits on here that hype up Amir Khan to no end.
Like who?
Khan has great speed and is a very decent boxer. I am not his biggest fan but I will give him credit and say he is a very talented boxer.
Floyd would beat all of those boxers listed.
I doubt he gets in the ring with 2 of those boxers. 1 if we are lucky.
I would like to see Floyd fight all 4. Floyd V Manny and Floyd V P.Will is the 2 I want to see.
present day boxers to do not stand a chance of being rated as highly as the greats from the past.
the truth is everyone looks back in the past with sunshine tinted glasses,
