I would have to go with Jens Pulver and Takanori Gomi. They had a very good fight back in the Pride era and it was mostly boxing, no holds or takedowns. One of the best heavyweights in the boxing department was Andrei Arlovski although his chin has never been top notch and has gotten worse with time. Mark Hunt is another one with good chances due to his power and incredible chin. Gomi hasnt even response for a basic jab.You can see that in his fight with Nate Díaz.Pulver is even worst.I like Hunt but Ray Sefo is a better boxer than him and failed miserably in his trie in pro-boxing with a journeyman six rounder, Mighty Mo had his jaw broken with a four rounder and quit.Arlovsky has been brutally beaten by some good punchers even in MMA, and got dropped in an sparring sesion at the Wild Card Gym by a fat mexican with only one punch, the video is on youtube. I don't see any MMA fighter doing something in boxing, even Anderson Silva who has the better boxing technic and natural talent, loss by a random unkown guy brazilian in boxing.His record in pugilism is 1-1 or something like that. 1- Pacquaio is not huge in Asia, he's huge in one country. The biggest market for Asia is a super power country like China or a rich economic country like South Korea. The Phipinees just don't have that kind of marketing power China have. Just look at Yao Ming the basketball player, that guy wasn't even a top 10 player and China's marketing ability made him into a global star. Just imagine if there was a middleweight chinese Pacquaio. Manny's country just don't have the resources to fully market Manny outside of Mexico, the US, and his own country. Nobody care or even heard of Pacquaio in most Asian countries. Japan is a traditional boxing market with stabilished good ratings all the weeks since years.Also fighters like Koki Kameda do record numbers.Indonesia is a fast growing market for boxing and Chris John is a very big personality there.

2- Boxing is huge in Europe right now mainly because it is VERY VERY easy for Europe to have a #2 sport. What that means is Europe's #1 sport by far is Soccer. Soccer is the most watched sport in Europe and the most watched in the world outside of the United States. There is a MASSIVE gap between #1 Soccer in Europe and 'the rest'. So any sport could easily fill up the void for #2. It's not like in the States where there is the NFL,NBA, NHL, MLB, Nascar etc. In Europe there's Soccer and 'the rest'. Boxing is now taking over 'the rest' Much easier to do in Europe, because the competition that comes after soccer is very weak. Basketball or Boxing? In Europe that's a legit question, the fan bases are the same. It's just easier to market boxing in places where there's only ONE super sport to compete with. In the United States there is far too many sports for boxing to make a successful comeback anytime soon. In Europe tennis, cycling, Formula 1 and Moto GP are very popular sports as in USA are and baseball, hockey (very popular also in Russia, the best at the sport) or basquetball.
