See but this why they have the contests and officiate them properly rather than speculate.
Rico might have been stopped in the 12th or maybe he recoops and survives even winning the rd but we will never know because it was incorrectly stopped after the 11th rd had ended.
If Rico won the 12th and went to points. He still doesn't win the fight...
The judges are a joke
Usyk only won't 3 rounds
Even a 10-8 in the 12 he still loses
The ref stopped it despite rico having 60 seconds to recover from a minor knockdown in a champion fight
Minor knockdown? Lmao go look at it again. Also got extra time by taking their time with the mouth guard.
Draw after 10. 10-8 in the 11th to Usyk. Even if Rico won 12th without a knockout he still wasn't winning the fight.
No way it was a draw after 10. It was 8-2 Rico. Rico was outboxing Usyk. We all saw Fury look done against Wilder in the first fight; you never know. Most likely, Usyk would have stopped Rico, but we were robbed of that.
2 rounds to Usyk at 10? Lmao another idiot copying what Coppinger had it they kept popping up that scorecard and the casual fans think that is the expert
Rico was way ahead.
No he wasn't. People get influenced what the tv shows like Coppinger trash scorecard. 2 judges had ti a draw after 10, that was fine I had it the same. So either way Usyk was winning or getting a stoppage in the 12th even if ref didn't stop it
I didn't expect much from Wardley this fight and it went mostly as expected. Apart from the knockdowns Dubois gave him a beating, Wardley just had a great chin
There is no way it was a legit 1 fight 15m deal to fight Prograis on a co main I said back then he must have agreed a longer deal. They had this all planned.
There will be violence where I live (Liverpool) because of this - not in my immediate neighbourhood, but the city was the Kinahans' entry point into the UK and there was a sizable power struggle that spilled over to street level following the initial news of the RICO, and I'd assume that'll happen again.
No there won't. It was only a matter of time before the crook got arrested
I'm wondering if Floyd spent some of the advanced money already. Hopefully not. But both guys probably blew through a lot of money just to get to this pathetic point in life.
He has probably agreed the fight for the advance as he has money troubles. Then thought he will change the terms last minute and just pay the money back (if he can) having used it as a short term loan.
Seems like he has got financial issues, way too many different stories about them and that showtime law suit I think pretty much confirms he has financial trouble and desperate for anyway to get money
Conor Benn fought a shot to pieces 140 lber who hasn't beaten a ranked fighter in years and looked terrible.
He's no shot vs anyone even close to elite.
He is a clown, but he has a shot, he isn't as bad as some make out. Boxing fans have short memories. Rolly was trash apparently, then he beats Garcia and is hyped for some big fights. Garcia was s***** on after the Rolly loss, and it killed the Haney rematch hype and people said he was trash, now after his last performance and world title people rate him again and now Haney rematch is suddenly a big fight again. People s**** on Haney after the Garcia loss that got overturned, won world title since and rated highly again. Is Benn elite, no. Are Garcia, Rolly, Crocker far better, no.
Audrey Harrison, David Price come to mind.
Mike Tyson was being recognized at that mark in his career.
Tyson stat padded 16 fights in 1st year and like 14 the 2nd. He would be absolutely roasted in the social media age for that whereas in that age he could be hyped up as a beast. Itauma was being shitted on for fight journeyman when he was like 18 and 3 fights in.
Fighters in the current era have it harder than the past. Not the other way as some make out. Social media age has changed things everyone has an opinion every second of everyday day on boxers online
Audrey Harrison, David Price come to mind.
Mike Tyson was being recognized at that mark in his career.
Mike Tyson had 15 fights 1st year 14 the next. No one im this era with social.media will get away by stat padding with journeyman like he has or like fighters of the past have. More pressure on fighters this day and age. You had people saying Itauma is fighting nobodies whem he was only 18 and 2 fights in
I don't get it either but uck the wbc
Don't get what? It is not for the WBC it is just Suleiman trying to worm his way into the event as we know he has Mexican bias. Hoepfully WBO WBA stick to what they say and do not sanction it if WBC try to add a fake belt to it
Can't see it gaining legitimacy but hey, I never thought the WBO would ever be a legitimate world title and it became one, so
You never know.
There was originally only one belt in boxing, all of a sudden they starting bringing new made up belts in for no reason like the WBC belt and nobody liked but it but they swiftly became legitimate when the right fighter held them and fast forward 50 or so years and its as if they were always there.
There has not been 1 belt in over 100 years. Jack Dempsey over 100 years ago at the same time held the NYSAC belt the NBA (now WBA) belt and the Ring belt. But people love going on about need to go back to 1 belt days but don't even know when that day is, there were multiple belts even in their great grandads days.
No interest in “ young guy Itauma, I don’t wanna break this guy” and was asked if agit Kabayel was on his hit list, completely ignored the Kabayel mention, and said
Rico , Wardley-Dubois winner , & Fury
Thoughts?
If Wilder wins Chisora I'm almost certain Usyk Wilder is next. WBC will bypass their rules like usual and sanction another voluntary
Spray_resistant Parker's Cousin Buff Guy Jai isn't as buff as I thought. So if it's for undisputed Top Soviet Bivol would be fighting a 210 to 215 pound buff guy
Buff Guy Jai would have a 15 to 25 pound weight advantage on fight night against Top Soviet who would buff up to 190 to 195
Jai Opetaia remained true to his word and committed to the second-day rehydration weight check, although it was no longer required under the current terms of Sunday’s main event.
The lineal and RING cruiserweight champion tipped the scales at 210.6lbs, well under the maximum 214lbs limit in accordance with IBF’s rehydration rules for title fights and final eliminators.
Per IBF rules, sanctioned cruiserweight fights carry a 14lbs rehydration max for the second-day weigh-in. A 10lbs cap is applied to fights at junior welterweight all the way down to strawweight.
So from what I can see IBF have not stripped him. Still showing as champion on their website and no official announcement that it is vacant unless I missed it
It's called prize fighting. Usyk tried getting ex champion Wilder but that fell through. This guy Rico is 6'5" and weighs 280. Has a granite chin had good hands. He's more skilled than Ngannou.
We're you guys upset when Jack Dempsey fought a wrestler or when Floyd Patterson fought a debut boxer Radamacher, or when Ali fought a Japanese wrestler or when Fury fought Ngannou or Floyd fought McGregor or when AJ fought Paul?
It happens. You don't like the match don't watch it. Usyk is entitled to ONE of the ordinary guys for $$$ after fighting much bigger HW and every top CW.
Fury - It was not for his belt
AJ - washed, had no belt
Mayweather - Basically retired, came out after 2 years again, no belt
Ali - It was an exhibition. He had 4 pro fights the same year
Jack Dempsey - again, an exhibition, and after he was retired
Usyk - is not comparable. Yeah he has deserved to fight who he wants that is not the issue. The issue is it is a pro fight, but the bigger issue is, it is for his world title add to the fact this guy usually only fights once per year. So no it's not the same as those you listed
I'd say amazing, but it's just what you'd expect. I'm surprised Regis is still alive. Is this what Zuffa is all about? Riyadh, you are wasting your money.
This is not a Zuffa card. It is a Ring/Netflix card.
Eddie has Callum Smith plus Josh Kelly and Dalton Smith later in the year
The latter do not have any fights scheduled. Smith Morrell is a good fight. Kellys last fight Eddie was not even at his fight, he was instead listening to his bosses Turkis order and was in NY. For Daltons last fight he lost the purse bids so most in the UK had no clue he was even fighting since it was at 5am, and at £40+ PPV
"insisted that Queensberry Promotions’ contracts with Tyson Fury, Hamzah Sheeraz and Agit Kabayel will safeguard them against any potential promotional “complications” in the coming months"
The article says this at the start but then does not quote frank saying it latee. Can anyone tell me what interview it was. I want to know if really does have Fury under contract or not. As I watched a interview after Fury Makhmudov was announced and Frank said he was not involved in the making of that fight and that Fury made it with Netflix/Turki. Queensberry were not mention on the official fight poster either only Netflix and Ring logo. So I thought he may be a free agent but then they just asked him to the presser and be the promoter, but that doesn't add up either now based on Rings post if Turki now says they won't be working with Frank
Seems to me we can infer that Turki told Frank his plans from the jump to monopolize the sport and told him he'd be his guy to run the show.
Will be interesting if Frank did manage to get that in writing.
I think all these promoters trusting Turki wasn't a great idea. Seemed clear to me from the start what game he was playing. Especially when he purchased The Ring Magazine.
Something had to change. Eddie and Frank never even spoke let alone do a card together. They started working together because of Turki. Same for the other promoters. Fights like Beterbiev Bivol would never have happened as there was not enough money satisfy both team networks promoters. All that was put to aside with Saudi cheques. So boxing has been better since they came into it. Now we see a change with Turkis ego getting big and Zuffa coming into it. Let's see what happens. 2026 might be one of the biggest years in boxing in terms of changes and things that happen and Zuffa coming into the game
