I like Berchelt, and IMO he is the best MEXICAN fighter active right now, not no canelo. But honeslty I think Loma still just a step ahead of him in just about all areas.
Stop it, Nelo beat Pvssy-G twice & ya'll started that "he's old" excuse when Jacobs beat Pvssy-G.
Nelo ALSO beat Lara. He had Lara on his bike when them body shots were hitting him :lol1:
Not exactly, Im not even a big GGG fan, I can care less about him. The last GGG fight I think he looked good was against David Lemieux.Dominic wade was a bum, he didnt look impressive against kell brook, in fact kell brook hurt him. by time the Jacobs fight happened it really confirmed what we thought, and that was that GGG was no longer at his peak. So then Canelo fights him, 1st fight GGG won, 2nd fight Canelo beat the ***** out of the old man.
Lara outboxed him for 12rds straight, canelo missing widly the entire fight, and looking desperate and one demenional.
Mayweather?????????
Read carefully my friend, he stated
"Has Marquez beaten any good boxers, or does he just beat the come face forward type"
Canelo didnt beat no floyd, He lost terribly, so why even mention. Marquez been in the ring with a younger, stronger floyd mayweather.
That’s s good personal list but an all time list needs Ruben Olivares, Carlos Zarate, Miguel canto
And who knows when it’s all said and done Canelo might work his way on it too
Your correct, Olivares, and Zarate definelty are top 10.
For sure, I think canelo name will always be mentioned with some of the Great like the ones mentioned previouslyonce his career is over with. He is a "GOOD" fighter in my honest opinion, but no where near the "GREAT" level of guys like Marquez, Morales, Barrera. Marquez and Barrera are GREAT counterpunchers, canelo is a GOOD counter puncher. there is a difference. There are "GREAT " fighters boxing right now, guys like Crawford and Lomanchenko, AND you have GOOD fighter like Canelo, Spence, Fury, Inoue ect.
Dont get me wrong I like canelo, but people just go overboard sometimes and it makes no sense whatsoever.
I mean he knocks out a 36 year old timid, glass chinned kovalev and people decide to loose their dammmmnnnn mind and start talking ATG, P4P, Better than floyd, fighter of Decade BS just like cmon cut it out with the non sense, like get real.
Yeah - a LOWER level.
It's not race baiting bro. It's facts. It cannot be refuted. Carnelo is at the top of the mountain. Marquez is salty for the reasons stated.
What boxing logic do you have my friend?
Name me 3 area's that Canelo excel in better than Craword?
Not IQ, Not Speed, Not defense, Not Reflexes, Not counterpunching, So where do you see Canelo excels in? and where is this logic coming from? your a$$
I dont know if it was fixed, I cant say that one, but one thing certain, That Wasnt The Krusher Kovalev we all known him to be. Thats not the same guy who was in the ring with Andre Ward. He was fighting like he was sparring.
Pretty much this... The other guys that keep being mentioned aren't known for boxing skills.
Salido, Diaz, hell nahh
Never said they were known for their great boxing skills, He asked who did he fight, and I gave him a list a good repuatble opponents he faced, I didnt even mention Mayweather because he specifically asked for people who Marquez DEFEATED.
Salido,Former two-weight world champion, having held the IBF featherweight title in 2010; the WBO featherweight title twice, from 2011 to 2014; and the WBO junior lightweight title from 2014 to 2015 and the same guy who gave vasili Lomanchenko his toughest fight.
Juan Diaz, former IBF, Held Unified WBA (Super), and WBO lightweight champion and IBO lightweight champion.
I came in this thread to genuinely see where some of you guys think the mexican greats are. OP has spot on knowledge of boxing. Can't hate on it. I wonder mostly where people would have ranked Chavez Sr. then the OP goes on and really displays a good knowledge of boxing and boxers.
I just ask, what about Jorge Arce? Is he far off that list or just outside?
Travieso was a name on my mind as well, I just feel the other's were a little better. I would put him in the mix with guys like olivares, and zarate.
Even though back in March, I said Canelo could beat Tyson Fury, Canelo's most realist chance of winning a HW strap would be to fight the winner of Joshua/Ruiz. After Ruiz beat Joshua, a lot of people said Joshua was exposed and proved to not be anything special, and with Ruiz, he has nice pop, but will anyone really say Ruiz will be able to land on Canelo like he did on Joshua? Pretty interesting and I think Oscar, if you're reading this, make this happen and push Canelo even further into greatness.
Thats funny is hell, sad but true.
Joshua doesnt have a chin, and Ruiz cant hurt canelo imo. and would be getting countered all damn night. They are just too slow. Now Fury would dance circles around Canelo all night easy win, Wilder would Stop Nelo, Ortiz would stop nelo.
So he forgot how to throw power jabs from the very first bell? Needed to measure distance? Made himself fight short and small instead of tall and reach, as he did his whole career?
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Mike was tough but the original post said good/great boxer, Mike doesn't fit that category. Let's not forget, this is the dude we're talking about...
https://i.makeagif.com/media/9-03-2015/_ufiPM.gif
Former WBO Jr Welterweight Champion, same guy who took 14 months off, and won five fights in a row, four by knockout afterwards, this the dude we talking about. He's not the best boxer we've seen lol but he damn sure was a tough customer solid jr welterweight at the time.
:lol1: I'm sorry bro, but Mike Alvarado!? :lol1:
Alvarado was a tough SOB, the equilvalent to Canelo fighting Angulo. Besides Alvarado, you cant name one person who i mentioned wasnt an elite level fighter. I'd whether have a win over a mike alvarado then a Julio Cesar Chavez JR, Liam Smith, Kirkland, Khan.
Easy.
1. Resume.
2. Resume.
3. Resume.
Or more accurately:
1. Went up TWO weight classes and KO'd a top LHW.
2. Unified middleweight champion NOW, super middleweight champion NOW, LHW champion NOW. All the same time.
3. Has never needed to get his opponents out of there with a low blow. It's either a decision or a KO/TKO. Unlike Crawford.
Are you seriously going to dismiss #2, much less the others?
..............my point exactly lol.
Lol Crawford #1 with that crap resume and Canelo #5? Casual.
I see you either cant read or just dont have the best comprehensive skills.
The definition of what P4P means was CLEARLY POSTED
according to the definition of P4P, resume was not part of that criteria. To reiterate for you buddy, it stated "based upon his or her skills whatever the weight"
Last I saw Mikey Garcia he was celebrating a 12-0 shutout loss at the end of every round. Shawn Porter's had some entertaining scraps with Thurman and Spence, but he's lost them both. You don't get on the P4P list for being a lovable loser. Danny Garcia doesn't have a single significant victory at WW since moving to the weight 3-4 years ago. He's lost to Thurman and Porter at the weight.
Taylor just unified two belts at 140 and knocked off three undefeated guys to get there. It's his time now. If he was to move to 147 and embarass himself like Mikey and Danny did, he'll get removed from the list too.
once again, you guys getting Skills confused with resume. P4P has nothing to do with resume.
Roman Chocolatito Gonzales was ranked #1 P4P 2016. At that time, he's only stopped Brian Viloria and beat Carlos Cuadras on points. He wasnt ranked #1 P4P because of his resume, but his SKILL SET instead.
All three of those guys I named, M Garcia, D Garcia, S Porter will all beat josh taylor and are better fighter period point blank. He hasnt even got passed Jose Ramirez yet, and he on your p4p list says alot.
same Mexican boxer that got handled by every Black fighter he ever faced, especially Freddie Norwood. It doesn't surprise me that he's now cucking for Crawford instead of his own.
Here we go with a race baiter. It has nothing to do with Color nor ethnicity, I just know boxing, and Crawford is on a whole another level then canelo.
Sadly this is accurate, both Marquez and Beristain are known Canelo haters.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9Oy06Fr0_s
Marquez not hating, he stated it was a great fight and great performance by canelo. He also said he had canelo up on points 96-94 and reccommends he stay at LHW to get other belts......but let you guys tell it, he's a hater...man cut it out.
this is my official pound for pound list updated!
1. Canelo
2. Usyk
3. Loma
4. Pacquiao
5.crawford
6.estrada
7.spence
8. Beterbiev
9. Taylor
10. Inoue
usyk over pac man, loma, crawford, spence......who did usyk beat??
you have lost your damn mind son. Chavez would break those 3 dudes in half. He was 130 to 135 all these dudes were 122 to 126 in their prime. He would hunt them donw and break them down.
you clearly know nothing about boxing. Im sorry for even entertaining you.
Manny Pacquiao isn't #1, but he's Top 5. Unlike Crawford. There's no contradiction. You just can't stop inhaling Crawford's smoke and mirrors.
I dont know who's the dumbest Revelated, HNRY, or Fredrekk
via GIPHY
Loma is on steroids and Crawford is average as fucckkk but both are “great” at beating ****inn bums lol
If Crawford Average Than Canelo is on a Remedial Level.
JMM isnt even the greatest Mexican Boxer ever. Ever heard of Chavez? Finito Lopez was better, Heck Morales and Barrera were better in my book. Morales and Barrera would have never lost to Chris John, Or been floored by Michael Katsidis.
wrong topic for your argument. we already settled this for the casuals, Marquez, Barrera, and Morales would have beaten Chavez. Go check some more forum post.
