People that rank Lomachenko and Crawford ahead of Canelo are placing a heavier emphasis on performance and, to a certain point, deemphasizing opposition. Lomachenko's best win is Rigondeaux at 130, which would be like Canelo's best win being over Pacquiao at 160. Crawford's best win is one of Gamboa/Postol/Indongo/Horn, which would be like judging Canelo based on his performances against a lesser version of Cotto/Fielding/Liam Smith/JCC Jr. What Canelo just did is what Lomachenko refuses to do (fight Pacquiao at 147) and what Crawford hasn't publicly considered doing (fight GGG at 160). Canelo just did an equivalent of that and stopped him. He is the best P4P. Exactly this ^
