I'm not sure how much Margarito against Carson would have helped the undercard except to draw more Mexican fans. Still interesting why they took him off after they were saying how it was almost assured he would get his license in time to fight.
I think Clottey would be able to take him. Maybe after Valero gets a few more fights and a little more polish then he'd have a better chance. He also hasn't fought above 140 yet I don't think so that'd be a whole other test.
RIP S A M U R A I you will be missed by many many people on this forum. It was shocking to see that you had passed. You provided us all with great memories and great posts at BS.
I think Manny has a solid chance to beat Mayweather just because of the volume of punches he throws. If Mayweather can handle all of the incoming punches he should win easily. But its a big if and that's why I can't wait for this fight to get made.
Heavyweight is up there still but it is becoming much more interesting as of late. Middleweight just never seems to have any good fights. PWill is the one fighter that could change that, but he isn't even a full time MW. PWill and Pavlik is still an interesting fight, but beyond that there isn't much else there to get excited about.
I hope his source is legit. That would be a great fight
Dunno about the author though, he states that he's not sure Mosley has the stamina to pressure for 12 rounds, its well known that mosley finishes very strong.
Also why is he questioning whether Mosley is looking at Freddie Roach...Naz is as good as it gets.
Ya the thing about Mosley not having enough stamina seemed odd to me. And Mosley seemed to work well with Naz I don't see a reason to change his trainer.
I met Andre Berto at the Pac/Diaz fight a few years ago. He seemed pretty cool. Wish I could meet more fighters not too many of them up here in Washington.
It's put on by Top Rank and it's got guys like Clottey on some of the cards. Go to espn's boxing section there is an article in there on it. Sounds pretty good though.
I don't think Cotto wants to help Margarito moneywise or name wise. Who has the bigger name Margarito or Cotto? Cotto obviously would be pulling in the money and why should Margs get a chance to fight him, or anyone else again. He can go fight bums in Mexico if he really wants to fight again.
I didn't find a package but the Rio had rooms for like $50 a night around the time of the Berto mosley fight. I think rooms will be cheap, just gotta find some tickets. I was thinking about heading down for the fight as well.
I thought Oscar had that fight easy just because he was so much bigger than Pac and should have been able to keep him off of him. I though Pac would win against Hatton but that was a tough fight to decide but was shocked at how that one played out. Then I picked Cotto and I'm not even a fan of his. I was more of a Pac man fan but didn't think that he could stand up to Cotto's body punches from a true welter weight. And if he fights Mayweather I don't know who to pick for that one. Pac's proved how good he is, but I can see Mayweather running and pot shotting to a decision. Pac didn't look good trying to chase a hurt Cotto around the ring, and doubt he would against Mayweather. But who knows maybe he will surprise me again.
The Cotto fight did it for me. It completely changed my whole view on Manny and I felt bad for not giving him the credit from the beginning. I don't think I could doubt Manny's ability ever again. What he has done so far has proved that he's a hero
That's exactly how I feel about it. He's proved that he is a ATG and I hate that i picked against him so many times.

I couldn't believe that Arum said all of that about Pac. Is he really that eager for the fight? I doubt it he just wants the money I'm sure. Roach needs to shut his mouth because he is making it look worse especially if Pac doesn't agree to the fight in March. He said he'd fight Foreman but not Mayweather? Just shows how highly they think of Mayweather that they would need to "study" him until the end of the summer. Why wait though? These guys are not getting any younger. Pac's got the rest of his life to be a politictian. He is a fighter now. Man up and take it. Money will put a whooping on your ass.
you can win boxing like that in amateur fights, not in pro. floyd will be booed all night if he backpedals, he can't win with points. he will loose in the decision.
I just didn't like the way that pac looked trying to catch up to a hurt and battered cotto. I'm not saying pac has no chance, he has a great chance to win it but it just won't be pretty unless pac can draw him into a brawl, and pac would most likely win that.
Pac destroyed Cotto after the first round, but that's because Cotto was drawn into a fight in the centre of the ring and paid dearly for it. He didn't have the speed or defensive abilities to pull it off. When Cotto fought to survive and danced round the ring, dodging shots, Pac couldn't catch him and instead just followed him in a straight line a bit clueless.
PBF will fight in a similar way for twelve rounds, being elusive, looking for openings and accurately exploiting them like no other fighter Pac has faced before. There is no way Pac KO's Mayweather before the 6th if at all, but he will make it difficult early on until he adjusts.
Exact same thing I saw and was thinking. Pac's gonna be chasing a running floyd all night and it will not be a pretty fight. Pac likes to have someone come at him and engage in a brawl. PBF is gonna pot shot all night and not have big exchanges too often and win a decision.
I was at the fight and couldn't believe how hard cotto hit pacquiao and he didn't budge. Cotto unloaded with some body shots and had some pretty upper cuts, but Pacquiao proved he is just that damn good :boxing:
Yes, Cotto will be cut, probably early. Good thing for him is the fight won't last 12.
I was thinking the same thing! Pac will get taken out by body shots and will NOT be able to keep up his high work rate that everyone thinks he can somehow do for 12 rounds. Cotto is gonna work that body until Pac runs to roach and cries for him to stop the fight.
This is about what I expected out of this fight. There was more buzz about the Mayweather fight than this fight. It really wasn't promoted all that well and they didn't have a ton of time to try and promote it. Solid numbers but Floyd will never go 50/50 now. He did over 1 million buys in a tune up fight.
Looking forward to this fight. As others were saying it will be interesting to see how Wlad deals with someone who actually can move and throw punches with some sense of urgency. Still think Wlad will win this one but it will be a lot more interesting than his last fights have been.
