Why are you saying "the Brits" don't follow the sport outside of their own country?? Each British person is an individual and I know this "Brit" knows about Boxing from all over the world, just as I'm sure many others do too. I still enjoy seeing fighters from my country victorious but I'm certainly not bias or that closed-minded to not explore the fighters other nations have on offer.
Why do any of you call fighters bums? Pianeta might not be as good as Wladimir but that doesn't make him a bum. He gets in the ring and fights for a living. No wonder fighters laugh at these forums when little kids who've never been near a boxing ring think they've got the right to judge people. I'm backing Gavin Rees all the way. He is someone I can relate to. A hard worker lad from a humble background, travelling a long way from home to try and take something that almost everyone is saying he can't possibly. I'm only new to this site but I had to comment on this article as one of my first posts. I've been watching Boxing for a lot of years now, and to be honest, looking at the record of Fres Oquendo, if Wladimir did fight him, I'd seriously consider watching UFC(and that's something I only do now when there's no boxing on). Without disrespecting the man, as I don't disrespect any man brave enough to fight, this is for the World Heavyweight Championship. His record as of now stands at 35-7(23ko's) and the best men he's fought are Jean-Marc Mormeck who he lost to, and Oliver McCall who he lost to(when McCall was 45). Literally every world class fighter he's lost against i.e Tua, Holyfield, Ruiz with his best win probably coming against Bruce Seldon. For me, these are not grounds to give someone a title shot. Before Oquendo I would honestly try to sign up David Haye for a rematch, or give a shot to someone like Francesco Pianeta, Mike Perez or Kubrat Pulev due to other fighters prior engagements. They really need to sort the heavyweight division out.
Personally I think Tony Bellew will beat Chilemba but will find it extremely difficult to defeat either Dawson or Pascal. I hope he does though, as Liverpool deserves a World champion boxer.
As a fan of Boxing, I'd rather see Klitschko v Jennings than 99.9% of other Heavyweight fights being offered. So what if he's young and untested? He might cause a surprise and entertain us all in the process.
I hope he fights either Vitali, Fury, Povetkin or Arreola v Stiverne winner as they are the only fights I want to see before a possible Haye v Wladimir II. If I had to choose one, it would be Fury as it would be great to have another battle of Britain fight. It would sell a football stadium out on a warm summer evening, add to that a packed undercard and we have ourselves an event!
If Groves wins against N'Diaye and then against Abraham or Stieglitz, and Froch wins against Kessler, I would love to see another all British unification with Froch and Groves, in the same way as years ago we saw Calzaghe v Eubank. It would be huge for the British public and would warrant a stadium fight. Please make it happen!
I think because none of you are gay and come across as people who don't understand and agree with the homosexual lifestyle, it's impossible for you to comprehend homosexuality as you're looking at it through a heterosexual mind. It's like a man wearing red sunglasses and a man wearing green ones. He can't expect the man with the green sunglasses to see red in the same way as a heterosexual man can't understand a homosexual man's mind. Using terms like "getting your s**t pushed in" is a very crude way to view the love between two people of the same sex. A lot of homosexual people don't even partake in anal sex. If you're not an emotional, sensitive person you'll probably find it very difficult to comprehend finding a need in someone of the same sex as you, a need I might add that isn't completely sexual. If you're too laddish and a "dude" who likes to fk girls yet you're presuming a homosexual man has the same mindset and thought process as you, it's a recipe for disaster. You're entitled to your beliefs but your opinion will never matter as it's not based on anything. Some guys just don't need a woman...
I don't like it when people talk about Ward only fighting in his back yard. Do you people know Atlantic City is 5hr on a plane from Oakland? That's like Carl Froch fighting in Israel. Ward has proved he's the best and I think he'll beat Froch in the UK too!
