Very interesting bout on paper. Danny however is the much more skilled of the two. However, Provo is one of the most durable forces in the sport, mix in his power punching, things can get pretty complicated for Garcia if he approaches it the same way he did against Lucas. Ruslan will not fold and will put Danny's will to the test as well as chin. This fight is a toss up but gotta give Garcia slight edge based on skill set.
Provonikov isn't nearly as crafty as Herrera.....it's actually crazy thinking now that Mike Alvarado soundly beat Herrera. Herrera should have W's over Danny and Provonikov. He's crafty, avoided Garcia's left hand, was effective with his jab.
Provonikov would attempt to bum rush Garcia all night, eating left hooks. I see it playing out similar to Garcia-Lucas.
Styles make fights. Second, Lucas does not possess the iron chin of Provo. Ruslan is a rock who throws his punches in a much more technically precise way than Lucas does. Those qualities alone make for a very interesting bout.
A lot of people get mad when a fighter is boxing, or "running" to them, but I get mad at the other boxer for not being able to cut off the ring. It seems like cutting off the ring is becoming a lost art within the sport of boxing. What do you guys think?
Agree. We have to consider the current culture of the sport. We live in an era where the "shoulder roll" and "Philly shell" style have been trending thanks to guys like Floyd Mayweather and Bernard Hopkins. Everyone has been trying to implement it in their fight game. Cutting off the ring has become a lost art and it's a shame cause it can play a major roll in the fundamental aspect of the sport. Good observation Frankie!
Why doesn't Mayweather fight Thurman, and do it for his fans again?
Why is there always a double-standard with Khan?
I don't think Thurman is a big enough ppv attraction yet to interest Floyd in giving him a shot. The reason Maidana got his was cause of that upset win over Broner.
It would prove Floyd was right to duck Pacquiao.
Smartest move Floyd made in his career, better than leaving Arum, signing with Showtime and anything else he has done.
If he took that fight, he would have taken a severe beating, his legacy of the 0 gone, his financial earning power halved if not quartered.
Would have been physically and mentally traumatised by the beating, could have developed health problems and gone on to suffer more defeats against mediocre opponents.
If Broner fights Pacquiao he gets the same. Floyd would find comfort in the Pacquiao win over Broner as he would know for sure he made the right decision by ducking.
I think the demand for a PacMay bout would sky rocket even higher with a Manny victory over Broner. More pressure would be put on Floyd to step up to the plate. Ppl would say "see, Manny will fair well against Mayweather." Regardless of Broner's legitimacy, weather we think he's a fluke or not, everyone views him as Floyd protege thanks to his style and flashyness and his close relationship with "big bro". There's a reason Floyd has labeled him "lil brother." Those who feel Floyd wouldn't be watching closely at that bout are fooling themselves.
Oh lawd poor Alvarado.... JMM gonna turn him into an avocado :o. Maybe there won't be the upset I predicted. Looks like he's back on that good chit.
hahahahaha, classic post B-Dew.. lol
rooting for Alvarado, just so there will never be talks of a 5th Pacquiao fight.
I don't think Marquez cares for a 5th bout KingFaze. He's said all along he feels like he was robbed all three times prior to the fourth bout. So considering his brutal victory against Pac, don't think he's motivated let alone interested for a fifth bout win loose or draw vs Alvarado.
I would like JMM to go out with an impressive win. A win over Alvarado followed by a victory over Bradley would be the perfect final two chapters for JMM's amazing career. I'm also ok with him retiring after the Alvarado fight.
No doubt about it. 7 world titles in 4 weight classes, always comes to fight. Could call it a career at any point. Alvarado bout will be a good one. It will be a slugfest at certain points before Marquez implements his ring IQ and takes Mile High to school late. Does he need a win vs Bradley? Absolutely not. His legacy was already cemented long before his ko win over Pac.
All this prefight/faceoff hype means nothing once that opening bell rings. At the end of the day, if Martinez goes in with the same type of mobility he displayed against Martin Murray, he's a sitting duck. Cotto will be in stalking mode the whole night trying to cut off the ring. More so than anything else, this will be a test of endurance. And if recent history is any indication, the longer the fight goes, the more sluggish Cotto tends to get. Advantage, Martinez.
The WBC has always been known to manipulate the ratings for the sake of business. However, Pac at #1 is something I can buy into and have no problem with. We saw him clearly beat Bradley regardless of what the judges said. At the end of the day his offensive arsenal of overwhelming speed and power might be to much for anyone to handle at 147 lbs with the exception of Mayweather of course. Newly crowned Provodnikov for example too stiff, slow, and flat footed to hang with Manny IMO. So why not have Pac ranked 1?
I'm a fan of Miguel but I think Cotto may have problems with Martinez's foot speed and angles.
I'll say Martinez by UD 116-112 is my prediction.
It all depends man. I think Martinez has shown his age recently. Sure it was a dominating performance vs Chavez but considering that final round in which we saw JC final put the pressure on, and looking back at his loss to Margarito a while back, and the fact that he looked very vulnerable against Murray, I think Sergio at this stage more than ever is a sucker for a legit pressure fighter. I like Cotto's chances considering he a much better pressure fighter than both Chavez, Margarito, and Murray. I think Cotto's new resurgence of going back to his old style of cutting off the ring and coming forward will take a toll on Martinez's durability and more importantly his leg movement. Once stationary, Sergio will be an ordinary fighter and a victim for Cotto's body punches. Regardless, should be a good one.
Nice video..Thanks.. I was thinking the same thing but WITH a different fighter.. What about a Ruslan Provo Vs Floyd Mayweather FIGHT? If Floyd would except that fight, I'd give him big props but we all know that he won't..:ghost:
PRPP:boxing:
Come on PRpower, Provo wouldn't stand a chance vs Floyd's elusiveness. Too flat footed, no defense, just pure power and ruggedness. Floyd wouldn't knock him out but it would be one of the most easiest fights for Mayweather. Similar to his fight with Carlos Baldomir. May would simply hit and move. It be a boring one sided affair. I want Floyd to step up to the plate as much as anyone, just not sure if there are any legit threats out there for him other than say a Danny Garcia at 147lbs or Pacquiao obviously. A bought with Broner would also be fun to watch.
Which Cotto almost certainly won't be at middleweight. If Martinez is forced to stand toe to toe with Cotto, that favors Martinez because of his greater size and strength. Murray and Chavez were much bigger and stronger than Cotto. Martinez also won't be fighting with an unhealed knee, a torn rotator cuff, and a broken hand.
That's a good point CB. But if Cotto, being the shorter guy, is able to keep at close distance and take Martinez's range away, I think that plays in Miguel's favor. Won't give Sergio room to punch. However, if he keeps his distance to where Martinez's reach and height advantage won't be sacrificed than I agree with your assumption. At the end of the day, it might simply come down to conditioning man.
