Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40KOs) is prepared for a war when he faces Mike Alvarado (34-2, 23KOs) next Saturday night at The Forum in Los Angeles, California. Marquez, 40-years-old, says a loss to Alvarado would place the future of his career in doubt. A victory would position him for a fifth fight with Manny Pacquiao, who holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight championship. The fight with Alvarado will take place at catch-weight of 144-pounds.

his combination punches have been looking terrifyingly fast and stronger at age 40 thanks to heredia peds.......atg roider......i spit on his name...a blatant roider like marquez deserves no respect...pre-heredia roidquez was atg...but he has tarnished his reputation by being a dirty cheat .......
juan m-drol roidquez is his new name from now on....
You're an idiot and have no sense.

If you think Matthysse vs Molina is a FOTY candidate, you must be one of the dumbest boxing fans in the world.
5 months in and its the leading candidate whether you like it or not.
JMM had me at making that other boxer throw up during a fight! LOL. Dude is the goods man. If you pay attention you can see him setting up punches that are still three punches away. Meaning, he will throw a hook to set up a straight right two punches later. One of my favorite fighters all time. :boxing::boxing:
The fight didn't suck but I agree that it was foolish to call this a FOTY candidate because Marquez pretty much dominated the fight besides for one or two rounds.
he's definitely pleasing on the eyes. he always had it in him to open up, but he used to be a more cautious fighter.
some other good combination punchers:
ray robinson
joe louis
roberto duran
If Ruslan was there last night instead if Mike I think we would have had a foty. Marquez showed up in a big way. He was ready to go to war if he had to.
I'll have to watch a few of his fights. To be honest I don't really know enough about his fighting style and abilities. Nacho has definitely made his mark on the sport though. And they said last night he has about 10 young up and coming fighters that will be bursting onto the scene in the next few years. I can't wait to see what he has in store.
Watch his fights with Paul Banke, they are some of the best fights I've ever seen.
Daniel Zaragosa might be another one to take a look at, was his fighting style similar?
Yes, fairly similar style, naturally, except he was a southpaw. Very good counter puncher and tough as hell but he lacked the punching power of Finito and Juan Manuel Marquez. Very good fighter but a notch below those two.
JMM's bro, Rafael, is another awesome fighter that came under Nacho's tutelage.
Ricardo Lopez throws combinations very similar to Marquez. Which you would expect since both were trained by Nacho.
