Leon Spinx was 24 yr old decorated Olympic Gold Medalist in boxing.
Rico was a 37 yr old retired kickboxer who had only competed in one 4r boxing match his entire life.
Muhammad Ali's resume makes Usyk's look like a joke.
Legendary wins vs a prime Foremon, Frazier, Liston...
He is universally recognized as the greatest boxer of all time.
Usyk doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath.
His greatest win is a split dec vs Tyson Fury. Don't make me laugh.
Anyways, I've realized you're in love with Usyk and there's nothing anyone can do to convince you otherwise.
Well said. Ali was also fighting 15 rounds, 4-6 times a year. There’s no comparison. It’s ridiculous that people compare Usyk to guys like Lennox and Holyfield let alone Ali.
Yeah, I’ve been saying for a while I doubt Usyk takes this fight. He seemed reluctant to fight Parker, didn’t seem interested in Wardley either. He was still talking about 3rd fights with AJ/Fury or fighting shot wilder. After taking a beating from a retired kickboxer, he can now go for a rematch and then retire.
Let’s say everything you’re saying is true, why on earth did Usyk struggle so badly against a past prime kickboxer?
It seems to me that the excuses people are making for Usyk are as if he was in there with a prime heavyweight boxer but he wasn’t, he was fighting a past prime kickboxer.
:lol1: This guy’s so hurt he had to make a thread about it. Not sure you’re the right person to call anyone a casual, what was it you said again?
“Usyk won, look at Rico’s face if you don’t believe me.”
You then went on to argue that looking at facial damage is a legit way to judge fights. Your favorite, Usyk was losing to a kickboxer until the ref saved him. You’re just gonna have to get over it.
Maybe Wilder? Or Rico rematch? One things for sure, it won't be a "prime" fighter.
Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking now. The media are pushing for a Rico rematch and I’ve seen his team mention wilder. I seriously doubt he ever fights Agit.
The reality is, Rico never deserved the shot to begin with. Agit does and that’s who should be next, no one else, but I don’t see Usyk taking that fight. Unfortunately, his next fight will likely be a Rico rematch or wilder.
You've misunderstood the intent of my post, it seems. I don't think there was a conspiracy, I am encouraging the conspiracists on here to flesh out their dubious theories rather than just allude to them to see if they have any substance. There would have been no need for the referee to have secret instructions before the fight on Saturday because no one thought it was going to be close - apply logic.
But again, if you think there's a possibility there was a conspiracy, flesh it out. Start by saying who was at the root of it. Part of the reason I get frustrated with conspiracists is that they rarely commit to anything specific, they want to hedge so it seems like they have knowledge with no possibility of being disproven. Oscar and Eddie regularly get accused of fixing fights, even when there's a joint promotion. Is there a bribe purse bid officiated by the Lizard People or Epstein's ghost in those situations?
You don’t think there was a conspiracy?! :lol1:
You’re the lead conspiracy theorist on this matter. You have a thread accusing Rico of ped’s, a thread blaming commentators of hypnotizing the vast majority of people into thinking Usyk was losing the fight. Some mafia involvement bullshit.
You said, if you ever use the word “they” it makes you a conspiracy theorist, yet here you are abusing the word and not realizing the irony. Stop being a fanboy and get over it. Fanboy.
People talk about PEDs all the time, it's a pretty major topic in boxing. Todd Grisham's commentary was theatrical (cringe in fact) and I disagree with Coppinger's card. I thought the official scorecards were about right.
You're just upset I called you out on referring to a nebulous "they" which you've since walked back to save face.
Nah, your feelings are hurt because your boy got beaten up by a kickboxer. Barely won a round.
You’re hurt because THEY robbed Rico and are now coming up with conspiracy theories to cope: hypnotist commentators, unfounded allegations of ped’s, mafia involvement to rob Usyk. But the ones who disagree with the ref’s stoppage and use the word “they” are the conspiracy theorists right? You’re projecting.
Don’t worry, things will get better with time once you get over the fact that Usyk isn’t who or what you thought he was. Fanboy.
No, I just didn't see what you did. A lot of these vaunted right hands were glancing blows and missed. I don't know what more you want me to say, that I'm on the Usyk payroll? I think he's a greedy dumbass for even taking this fight and that he should have fought Wardley, especially given he loves the belts so much.
This guy’s in both shock and denial. He’s got two conspiracy theory threads on the go, one saying Rico was on ped’s and the other saying that the only reason most people think Usyk was losing is because of the commentary. He’s then ironically calling anyone who disagreed with the refs stoppage a conspiracy theorist. I think he’s one of the lizard people.
There’s no conspiracy, the scorecards were off and the stoppage was awful. By “they” I mean the officials, whether there was a bias or not it doesn’t matter, they got it wrong.
I know you’re upset that Usyk was losing to a kickboxer and all of this “it was the commentary…” and other theories you’re using to cope makes this thread very ironic. Those damn lizard commentators must’ve hypnotized the majority of people to think that Usyk was losing. How dare they!
when you say things like "Your favorite fighter got battered by a kickboxer", but then say looking at the fighter faces at the end of the fight to see which one got battered is asinine, is why i call you a crack baby and you should slap your mom for smoking it when she was pregnant with you.
You still think fights are judged based on their faces?! :lol1:
Your favorite lost, get over it. It doesn’t matter how many paragraphs you type to convince yourself otherwise. I’m sorry your feelings are hurt but it happens in this sport.
what fight were you watching? another crack baby trying to speak..
usyk was the one in control, rico wasn't toying with anything except turning his head into a bobblehead..
look at their faces at the end if you are that blind to boxing.
“Look at their faces…” :lol1: is that how you judge fights?! Zero clue what you’re talking about fanboy.
again, you are a clown and stop being a crack baby
Your favorite fighter got battered by a kickboxer, barely won a round. I don’t expect someone who’s first exposure to boxing was AJ vs Usyk to know what he’s talking about so it’s all good. You’re new to this.
You can argue that he "ruined Fury and Usyk's resputations" but who's fault is that really? They took the fights and lost to an MMA fighter and kickboxer respectively.
Canelo has been on the decline for a while, again he agreed to fight Crawford and lost. - Unlike Fury and Usyk's losses to guys from other sports, people actually wanted to see Canelo v Crawford.
The Saudi shit has been hit or miss but you can't really blame Turki for these fighters agreeing to take these fights, getting paid millions and then losing. It's a weird take.
He lost to Rico? When was that fight?
The best thing for Usyk would be to retire, as it’s obvious he isn’t fighting with the same motivation as before (understandably, since there’s absolutely nothing else he can achieve in the sport). However, that’s easy for me to say, as I’m not the one being offered tens of millions. I’d like him to fight Agit and call it a day, if he needs one more.
It was last night. He got battered and saved by the ref. He won’t fight Agit. It’ll be AJ, Fury or Dubois, maybe wilder?!
Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great fighter and with his achievements at cruiser and heavyweight definitely belongs on the p4p list and will be a first ballot HOF pick. I’d say he’s even an ATG for all of his achievements. One thing he definitely isn’t is the GOAT heavyweight, you can’t just beat the same 3 guys, ignore everyone else and make that claim. Guys like Lennox, Holyfield and Ali (to name a few) who practically fought and beat everyone deserve that distinction.
What’s all this “with one second to go” bullshit. The ref stopped the fight after the bell. It was stopped about a second after the bell. One of the worst injustices I’ve ever seen in the sport.
We know he isn’t but he just beat up an elite boxer. This is Fury v Ngannou all over again. Usyk made Rico look like a world class boxer which is exactly what Fury did with Ngannou. As soon as Rico gets in there with any of the world class heavyweights he’s getting KO’d within a few rounds.
I thought the same, bullshit excuse but who knows how he was feeling. He looked bone dry in the ring before the fight and didn’t look as focused as usual. I just thought he was taking the whole thing lightly but who knows. He still got battered and it’s no excuse why he looked so out of shape.
He's nearly 40 and clearly didn't take it seriously for whatever reason (which is definitely his fault). And he did win the fight.
We rightly excuse Ali's losses after about 35. I think Usyk gets some leeway at nearly 40.
Usyk has fought once a year for the majority of his pro career and for the entirety of his heavyweight career. It’s not about age, it’s about wear and tear. Ali’s a bad comparison here because of how different the era’s were, as a result he had more wear and tear than Usyk and was also showing signs of Parkinson’s at that stage of his career. He also didn’t get beaten up by a kickboxer.
Usyk's never been #1. You can't just beat the same 3 guys in a division and be p4p #1. He just lost to a kickboxer. He'll fight AJ, Fury or Dubois one last time, his fans will be like GOAT  and Usyk will call it a day.
Well said. Usyk has been recycling the same fighters at heavyweight: Fury, AJ and Dubois. He won't fight Kabayel or Itauma when all is said and done. Lost to a kickboxer. He'll fight either AJ, Fury or Dubois one last time, maybe wilder and then call it a day.
