They literally had to stop the fight at 3.02 of the 11th round to save Usyk.
idiots watching boxing think usyk knocking down rico in the 11th round and the ref stopping the fight after the bell in the 11th was the save usyk
Just pointing out something related to the whole thread. A ref technically has the right to stop a fight at any point prior to or post a bell ringing. What makes it controversial here is the ref’s own admission that he stopped it as he didn’t hear the bell. But technically, it is not against the rules; he stops a fight at any point he wants, including in-between the rounds.
:lol1: This guy’s so hurt he had to make a thread about it. Not sure you’re the right person to call anyone a casual, what was it you said again?
“Usyk won, look at Rico’s face if you don’t believe me.”
You then went on to argue that looking at facial damage is a legit way to judge fights. Your favorite, Usyk was losing to a kickboxer until the ref saved him. You’re just gonna have to get over it.

I noticed that post, who does 786 mean by "they", also? Perhaps he can answer in my thread here.
Usyk did not finish the job, the ref ended the fight outside regulatory time.
the ref stopping the fight has nothing to do with usyk.
I have no doubt Usyk stops him in the first 30 secs of Round 12 if the ref didn’t stop it. However, the ref should have let it go, as that was a correct thing to do. Maybe he made both men a huge favour setting up a very lucrative rematch.
100% agree, in the ali v foreman days, stopping the fight after the bell would be unconstitutional !! "save by the bell" has no meaning in boxing now.

Technically that is correct in the same way it is correct Usyk would be up on all 3 judges scorecards going into the 12th. Both hypothetical, as well as most people being convinced Rico would get stopped early in the 12th.
None of it really matters now. Factually Usyk finished the job in the 11th and the ref made a mistake. Not Usyk’s fault.
i can agree with this since i dont watch many usyk fights. rico had good moments but usyk got the job done and end of 10th and 11th round is proof.
if it went the 12th, rico would have got some more a$$ whooping by usyk.

No. Rico had good moments and made it very competitive, arguably winning going into the 11th. Full credit to Rico. Usyk had his worst night probably over the last 15 years. Still, he did what elites do. He found a way to finish the job.

It was this fight all night long

watch that short video with me, rico was actively going at usyk in the beginning and landed a few clean right hands and a few hooks landing during exchanges, correct about rico.
AND THAT WAS ALL SHE WROTE for rico. now look at usyk in the video, in the very beginning you can see usyk landing clean jabs to ricos head even during their exchanges.
usyk was the one landing jabs all night and keeping his distance. those jabs came with combos and then the uppercut started landing on rico.
AND THAT WAS ALL SHE WROTE for rico, usyk turned into swiss cheese 10th and 11th round from usyk's work.
