You might need to define "hardest punching" here. Foreman I believe was probably stronger than any on the list, but he was slow. Mike on the other hand was strong and fast. With more speed behind the punches, I believe mike's punch would hurt more than foreman's.
Foreman was a bull, but mike was a bullet train
I think Hagler shadowboxed underwater, many of the good fighters have done it but when you see their routine posted it doesn't include it for some reason. What else would give him such an edge when it came to punching power, also swimming strengthens the neck, maybe that's why he was un KO'able..
I also know for a fact that Johnny Tapia shadowboxed underwater (not that he's a great fighter)
LOL, Ali started this "underwater" fighting craze.
I remember watching a sportscentury about him, Ali couldn't even swim, and he just jumped in the water and made up a story about practicing underwater for this writer watching him for a couple laughs. Now every body thinks it's required to be a champ LOL
I always hated ali, but it's so funny to think everybody that trains underwater, does so from a prank
true, but if we're dealing with "what if"s, then tyson would still be undefeated and obviously still the baddest man on the planet IF he wasn't nutty as my turds after christmas
Listen, i understand people are upset about the LJ tragedy, but headgear and heavier gloves is not what boxing needs.
If you keep adding shit like that, boxing becomes more of a game and I sure as hell ain't paying 50 bucks to watch to people pitty pat each other.
Boxing is a man's sport, there's blood, there's violence.
Hey I've got an idea, why not make punching illegal in boxing? Judge the winner by how well they move in the ring and leave it up to a pannel to say who would have won if someone had thrown a punch.
I mean come on guys, boxing is as safe as it needs to be, someone people get dealt bad hands sometimes. Sorry, but it happens, nothing is ever 100% safe.
LOL, it's funny to see everyone on Peter's side calling him green.
Just last night they were saying Wlad was going to be peter's bitch all night long, and now for some reason they are talking about him like he just got out of the ams.
Point is, wlad showed for the first time last night that he had heart, hardly anyone gave him a chance to win, but he did.
He's not the fucking machine we thought he was 4-5 years ago, but he's also not the Glass Joesque fighter we thought he was not 24 hours ago.
I can tell you first hand, storm surge is deadly, but the thing is, is that houston is 38 feet above see level, it might flood cause of rain, but storm surge ain't gonna touch it.
As to the moron that says New Orleans will appear unscathed...................
IT'S ALREADY BEEN FRIGGIN DESTROYED. Houston will be hurt, but not nearly as bad as NO. We're talking YEARS to get back NO, even then, it might as well be in a friggin dome if they are going to rebuild cause it'll just happen again.
I feel for all the residents of LA and TX, after we lost everything in MS, it's something I can't even imagine to have to go through this shit again so damn soon.
There's a god my ass
Thats crazy, when I did karate I kicked a guy so hard with a high kick his head gear flew off his head, but he was allright. Imagine if he had no head gear on. Its essential.
...............wax on, whack off
Katrina destroyed my home in Mississippi, my wife and I moved to Oklahoma, now this bitch Rita is projected to possibly come here too, won't be as strong, but it'll spin off assloads of tornados.
Guess I shouldn't have gotten that nun pregnant...
Hind sight's always 20/20
The eye of the hurricane passed directly over my house, and I can tell you, it'll hurt Houston, but it'll recover, MS AL and LA are fucked for a long time. I've lived in houston before, and I just don't see what happened to me in MS happening in Houston, the thing that was so bad about katrina was storm surge, and houston is off the coast enough it doesn't have to worry about that. With the exception of lower income households, I see houston making it out of this relatively ok.
I know the media wants to hype Rita as much as it can, but guys, I lived katrina, the casino my wife worked at washed up on the Hwy, the texas coast will be destroyed, but houston will be only inconveinced for a week or two.
He was charged with attempted sexual assault and battery of a stripper/call girl. Resisting arrest might have been a charge as well since the cops had to mace him to get him to leave his hotel bathroom.
Was it attempted? I thought he was charged with actual rape
So is freitas still considered such a b*tch for quitting? Or did he know he had enough and stopped so he could live to fight another day.
...still such a bitch
If he wanted to keep his rep, he should have stayed down, not get up then quit
Most of the time the ref doesn't change the outcome of a fight, and even when that does happen, maybe it was a good decision (e.g. Taylor-Chavez).
You're kidding right? Good decision?...............Taylor is damn near brain dead now from that fight and has nothing to show for it. The fight would have ran out of time before chavez could get across the ring and Taylor would have had the victory he earned that night, gone out with honor instead of getting it taken away from the gap-toothed son of a bitch steele.
Steele gets my vote not only for being the worst ref ever, but I'm also electing him number 1 ref I will gladly go to jail for knocking the fuck out of should we ever cross paths.
I think using accumulation of punches is a bad idea. If that should be the rule, Ali would never have beaten Foreman.
Boxing is about 2 different fighters, each have their strength and weakness, you've got to give a guy a chance to exploit those.
If you make accumulation of punches a rule, then that means weaker guys will always lose vs. stronger opponents cause after they get bull rushed the fight will be called.
Boxing is just fine as it is
Listen guys, I know you mean well, but this man was a warrior and deserves to be remembered as one for what he sacrificed.
Putting up LJ everywhere is low class all the way IMO, this isn't highschool football. A man died today and he deserves to be remembered by more than just a couple of letters.
Instead of putting up LJ, why not write to his family and let them know how missed he will be. I'm not going to pretend I was a fan of his, but any man that can let it all go in the ring gets top billing in my book anyday.
If I were an impartial fan, I would have to say boxing needs more safety measures
But I'm a fighter myself, and think a pro should have the RIGHT to stay in there as long as he wants, till death or not.
If you make pro boxing more safe, it becomes the ams where the goal is not to knock the other person out and really just stick and move, not to mention the friggin headgear.
Pro boxing is beautiful, no disrespect, but to an extent due to the fear of death. Grown men are fighting, they can make the decision if they want to get in that ring or not.
If you let the soccor moms come in and make sure their babies are always ok, you might as well kiss boxing goodbye.
I mean no disrespect to the family of johnson and wish them fond memories of him, but the fact remains, this is a blood sport and everyone who goes in that ring should be prepaired to die before the night's over with, that's just the reality of it.
Injuries and deaths are going to happen, making it safer will spell the end for boxing. You've got to admit, we've come a long ways since the early days of 75 round fights. Boxing is as safe as it ever needs to be right now.
Regards to the johnson family
judah can get his revenge on the guy who has ducked him for almost 4 years now.
let me see if I've got this right.............
From a single blow, zab feels numerous trips to the mat, looks like poultry with it's head cut off whilst falling over and over, and somehow Kostya is ducking him?
Zab is responsible for putting his head where it was, kostya's fist found it, game over. Nothing about that fight to me would warrant a 2nd fight.
I think a larger case could be made for a kostya/mitchell 3 than a kostya/zab 2, at least mitchell didn't flounder around when he got caught.
